Jedi Training and new Rope drop

I have an 8:00 b'fast reservation in early February. My brilliantly thought out master plan was to have a leisurely early breakfast at Hollywood & Vine and avoid having to show up 45 minutes before park opening to get a good time slot for JTA. So now I'm guessing I should plan on having a nice but quick breakfast and plan on hauling **** at 8:45 with the rest of the rope drop crazies?

If my plan for the breakfast was to primarily get in ahead of other guests, I drop the $$$ breakfast, altogether.

So JTA will reopen on Dec 1 or 2? And will this be with, or without Darth Vader? I've got my DS5 and DD9 very excited about doing this but I'm not so sure they'll be excited to fight characters they've never seen from a movie that hasn't come out yet. Our current plans put us at DHS on the 2nd of Dec with a lunchtime ADR at %0s Primetime.

To save money we like to eat a big breakfast, have a snack during the day, a late lunch/early dinner, and maybe an evening snack. So the breakfast isn't my primary or only reason for the ADR, but getting the inside track on an early JTA time is a big benefit to me.

I just don't understand how some suit at Disney could possibly think "hey, let's take one of the most iconic villains of all time who is synonymous with Star Wars, and replace him with all of these new characters."

Really? How is that a good idea? Come on suits, keep Vader.

My guess is so they can hopefully drum up more viewership with the younger crowd for the animated show. Many of the younger crowd really have no clue of the movies/shows all of the characters they are meeting at WDW. If they meet or see a character they interact with at WDW they are more likely to ask about their movie/show. I have been at WDW many times and heard a kid ask about where a character is from.

With the potential loss of Darth Vader I am torn on if I should change my touring plan. I was headed to Toy Story Mania at rope drop and skipping JTA all together. Is JTA really that great? My youngest are 4 and 5 and I figured TSM would be waaay more appealing to them instead of rushing to sign up for JTA and then having to return for the show later in the day.

JTA has always been the highlight of our trips. But JTA is only JTA with an iconic villain like Vader. If they reopen without Vader, I hope there is a downright fan revolt. Maybe these new villains that are part of the new Star Wars will be as iconic as Vader some day, but I doubt it.

I just don't understand the desire to mess with this aspect of the show. I totally agree with moving it indoors (if that's what they're really doing), but I have to wonder why they'd remove Vader from it. I hope that's not true, though the casting notice for the new JTA does indicate that they're looking for new roles instead of Vader.

Sorry...want to jump into this question as well. We have a Sci Fi Dine in Pre Park ADR at 8:00 on 12/18 and it seems like we would be super close to the JTA and able to head that way after we eat....or will they hold us back somewhere and make us go elsewhere? This is one of my 9yo DS's top things to do when we are there...even if it not DV he gets to fight against since he has done that already at DLR. Thanks for anyone who might know how they will work this. I know that the Sci Fi Dine in breakfast will be sort of new then...but maybe someone who did it during SWW knows from experience how this was handled?

Whether they will hold you at the Sci-Fi or let you head to JTA is, as yet, unknown.

There is a form of this situation at early MK breakfasts.
And, generally, guests are held back from going to the MK attractions until about front-gate
rope drop time.

I know people keep saying that JTA is going to be down for the last part of this year, but I still have not found anything official from Disney. Is this confirmed yet?

Nope.

It only appears to be confirmed with the JTA cast. They've been told to clear out their JTA lockers by the evening of October 4th.

That is a huge bummer! My son was so looking forward to doing this! He got to do it when he was 6 at Disneyland and loved it. We did not do it at DL in May anticipating that he would get to do it at HS in Dec. Boo Hiss!

Just FYI, we were there at the end of August/beginning of September, and one day we signed up for JTA at the ABC Sound Studio. My son wanted to do it again, so we changed our plans and a few days later in the trip we went to sign up for JTA again and they had moved the sign-up area to the '50s Prime Time Cafe, so I think it's best to ask a Cast Member where to go as soon as you get there!
