Hello All. I could only find old information on this so here goes. We are going to HS tomorrow morning and want to sign our son up for the Jedi Training activity. Has anyone done this in 2020 yet? I’m wanting some advice on when to be there to sign up. When do the groups usually fill up by? We don’t really care what time slot. I don’t want to deal with the rope drop crowd again like we did Monday. Thanks!

We were there last week. On Monday we were at HS and went to sign my son up probably mid-morning time. They still had spots open for the late afternoon/evening times. We didn't end up doing it because the timing didn't work, but if you aren't picky you should be able to get a slot without dealing with the crowds at rope drop.

Signup is to the left of Indiana Jones (if you veer left after 50's Prime time you can't miss it).

it RARELY fills up these days, maybe on super busy park days but nothing like it used to be.

If you HAVE to have a specific time, go to signups on the early side. But if it doesn't matter, just do it whenever you happen to be in that area of the park. We were there a few months ago, had gotten an afternoon time and then our plans changed a bit - we walked up to change the time around 1pm and they had more than half the spots open in the next group that was starting.

We were there two days ago and it was full. After we got our boarding pass online, we immediately went to the line to sign up for Jedi training. There was a long line behind us.

We plan on going there in August -- this will be my first time doing this as well. Am I correct that the kid still needs to be with you at the signup? Would be great if I could run over there without him if that works but I have a vague memory from these boards that they need to see the kid.

Correct. They do have to ask the child a few questions to make sure they are old enough to understand/follow instructions.

Are they letting people sign up prior to the official park opening time? So is everyone in the park early waiting for rope drop and RotR able to go over and sign up?

We have a 8am H&V ADR on a day the park opens at 8. Hoping to sign up before 8.

AFAIK it is staffed at rope drop, so with an 8am park opening you should be able to scoot over there and sign up before your ADR.

Thanks for asking this question. I am new to the forums and have a very similar question. I am planning a trip where the park opens at 9am but they also have early magic hours at 8am. I plan to get to the park at 7:30am and rope drop SDD. When I get into the park (presumably before 8), would I be able to head over to sign up for Jedi Training before rope drop, or will I be prevented from doing so (either because it is beyond the rope drop point or because it isn't staffed yet)?

You are not allowed back that far before "official" rope drop.

They gather the crowds at the intersection of Hollywood and Sunset (where the gift shops are but before you get to Hollywood & Vine) Jedi signup is beyond H&V and 50's Prime time off to the left after the RD holding point.

Thank you so much for your quick answer! That's what I figured. Jedi Training is one of the must-dos for my son, and I care about when his time slot is, so I think I'm going to have to rope drop the sign up and head to SDD right after.

Has anyone else done that? Will I have to wait in a long line if I do?

Also if I rope drop the Jedi Training sign up with my son and send the rest of my family (8 people) to SDD at rope drop, will we be able to join my family in line or is place holding like that a no-no?

By the time you get to SDD after signing your son up, the line will be well over an hour.
No, you will not be able to join other people in line. That's considered cutting.
Basically, if you choose to RD Jedi Training, you are giving up any advantage with the SDD standby line.

Were you able to get a spot?

Also curious to hear more Jan-March reports on this! We’re going in early April.
May skip rope drop madness and ROTR (!)
Wondering if we get to Jedi Training sign up about an hour after opening if we have a good chance at a spot after 3:00.

Does anyone know what the latest Jedi training is?
