I just spoke with a CM and decided to ask her about the JTA sign-ups, just to see if any info was floating about regarding sign-ups in or out of the park. Her "new information" surprised her, too - the info she had was that children would be randomly selected during the show and that no advance sign-ups would be taking place. It even went so far as give "tips" for being chosen. Is this really the case now? It seems an awful way to do it - leaving plenty of kids in tears. :(

Oh, no... this would be a serious bummer. I hope more info comes out soon :(

The tips were nothing you would not already do yourself. Try to sit in the front; be enthusiastic; jump up and down; wave your arms; shout, "Me! Me" (okay she did not say this one, but it is equally obvious). I just hope this is false and a mistake on someone's part.

This is the way they do it at Disneyland, so I wouldn't be surprised if it is true. Check the DL board for more tips. Lots of people bring hand-lettered signs to wave in an effort to draw attention to themselves.

I think this could actually be beneficial. This way they can select the kids who are into being in the show right now, not the kids whose mother was willing to get to the sign up desk first thing in the morning.

I am going to say that I think there is absolutely no way that WDW will go back to random selection. It caused far too many problems and complaints. I'm betting that phone agent looked up Disneyland by accident, or was looking at very old info.

WDW requires the child to be present at sign-up, so it's not like mothers can go sign up for kids who aren't even there.

I agree. There were to many families wasting time going to the shows and the kids never got picked. And then there were some kids that would get picked multiple times in a day.
