Jedi Academy question

My DS was picked when we went in October. He was passed over for the first show, and to cheer him up, we decided to go to Tatooine Traders and let him build his own lightsaber (which we had planned on doing later in the trip, anyway). When we were done, we went back to wait for the second show. The Photopass photographer that was setting up to shoot the second show advised DS to A. show off his skills with the lightsaber, and B. (and this was most important) STAY BEHIND THE LINE!!! Not sure if this was why he was picked, or if the Jedi Master remembered DS from the first go-round, but DS was picked the second time and had the time of his life. It's been a month and DS is still working on his training sequence...

Good luck!!!

We were there in September and two of my three children were picked at the first show of the day.

We arrived early, so they were in the front. I made simple signs for them ("The force is strong with this one", with an arrow pointing down.) My oldest didn't want to hold his sign, but the other two did. He was not picked.

Also my middle son had on a birthday pin. He was actually the first kid picked. I think it had to do with his age (8), his Star Wars t-shirt, his birthday pin and his sign. He also has red hair and tends to get noticed.

I was surprised that my daughter (6) was also picked, so I think it had to do with the sign.

I also noticed at that particular show that all the kids with birthday buttons were picked.

Now, a few days later we went back and tried to get my oldest son picked. He agreed to the sign this time and we even put the birthday button on him.
It was a different Jedi master and he didn't choose him. My son decided he didn't want to try again, so we didn't go back.

If your kids are huge SW fans you might want to let them know that there are no guarantees that they will be picked because I've seen more than a few kids, and parents, almost in tears when they (or their kids) weren't picked.

My entire family of four are huge SW fans. In Oct. '07 my oldest DS (6 at the time) tried for a week straight (at least every other day because DHS is one of our favorite parks) and never got picked. It is a really cute show regardless so we watched it each time and DS knew that being picked was completely random. In May '08 we again were going to try each day that we were in DHS. DS (now 7) wore Star Wars shirts and jumped around very enthusiastically when the Jedi Master started picking kids and always got passed over.

But on the last day of our week long trip he was finally picked and it definately ended up being the main highlight to his trip.

I never saw any real method to the picking of kids and saw kids with signs and costumes get passed over so I wouldn't say props help, it just depends on the Jedi Master.

But, of course, "May the Force be with you!" :darth:

This might help:

PM me if you would like the design(personalized) to iron on a shirt for your kids. My friend's DS wore this and was picked by name. Of course he was also jumping up and down like crazy too.

Tracie

I'm quoting myself, because I'm too lazy to open photobucket to post the pic again!

There is no charge from me for the image to make the transfer. You will need to buy t-shirt transfer paper(office supply, craft store or Wal-Mart) and a plain t-shirt to iron it on.

If you want a name on it PM me with the name and I will PM you back the finished design for you to print out and iron on.

I will post the blank design (without a name) if anyone wants to grab it to print.

Tracie

PS I can help you with iron printing and ironing on instructions if you need it

Our grandson was selected when we went last November - he was in an ordinary navy shirt, almost 10 yrs young, and did manage to get closer to the stage than we did. It was a wonderful experience for him, and he loved the certificate which they gave each participant. That particular day we did not notice any pattern that was followed in selecting the kids - seemed very random to us.

Tracie,

I would love to get a personalized shirt graphic, but I do not have enough posts to send you a pm. Would you be willing to pm me?

Thanks so much!

Peggy

Hi Tracie,

I'm in the same boat--I don't have enough posts to PM you, but I would LOVE to have the graphic personalized with my son's name (Anthony). Can you please PM me?

Thanks so much,
Danielle

+1 for making a sign. I made one for each of my daughters--cut a manila folder in half and used a magic marker. The first show my 11-year old held one, and was picked right off. The second time my 5-year held the other, and again was picked early. (She was the only girl that time--executed a great jumping attack on Darth Vader.) It was the high point of our trip.
