Jedi Academy Pre Registration

This is good to know. We've been pretty fortunate. We've had 3 of our 4 kids picked (we were some of those crazy hand waving parents), but we always prepared them to not be too sad or disappointed if they didn't get chosen. Our youngest is the only one who hasn't had a chance to be trained in the ways of the force yet and she's already been asking about it for our trip next month. I'm assuming registration opens when the park opens, not during Extra Magic morning? What happens if someone registers their child in the morning, but doesn't go to the show? Will they pick a replacement child from the audience?

Neat! My 12 year old has a mustache and looks way too old, but really still has 6 months before he's 13 and can't participate anymore, and he gets looked over time and time again. Maybe this time he can get one more whirl at it!

We got lucky when we were there the last week of August. We happened to be in the area close to when the show was going to start, decided to watch the show (I think it was the first or second one of the day), and were able to just walk up, do the jump up and down thing, and both kids got picked. While I understand the reasoning behind pre registering, we are a family that loves the spontaneity of Disneyland, and it seems like they are starting to make it harder to do that. We didn't do the show in the Royal theater this time because of the fastpass needed, and I don't know if we would have done the jedi training if we had to pre register.

Would you be able to find out if they are starting the sign up during Magic Morning? And also what time the sign ups start in the afternoon?

This is pretty cool news. Rebels got my DS interested in Star Wars and he likes Darth Vader after the episode that came out this summer. He's 4 though, so we'll have to practice with him a little ahead of time to see if he can do it.

Sign ups were after magic morning, but you could line up before rope drop. They did not have the sign ups today (9/11) so it may have been a trial for two days.

thanks for the info. Is there an age limit? Our 4 year old was recently introduced to SW by my husband and she LOVES is.

Our daughter did this at 4 y/o. She liked it and we have some pictures from our PP+. The little ones aren't as good at following directions, but that also makes it funny as the speaker will narrate things to make up for it.

It's kind of nice to see the sign ups. It can be stressful to not know if your kid is going to be picked. We were lucky in that it wasn't terribly busy so most kids got picked. One nice thing is that more older kids will get to participate. They say up to 12, but they generally picked kids who looked younger than 10.

So does anyone know if this is a permanent feature or if it was just a test. Tried Googling this topic and it looked to me like they were just testing this on select dates.

They seem to be holding the signups on days that are expected to be very busy. For instance, while we were there during the week, it was the "pick me, pick me" format. Over the weekend they held pre registrations.
