The Cast:
Dave (jdads2), my DW Jackie (Dwofjdads2), Anthony (DS age 11), Drew (DS age 8) and Sara (DD age 5).
Day 7: A day at Typhoon Lagoon.
Well with the heat index at about 125 degrees we decide to surprise the kids with a trip to Typhoon lagoon. We get there about 5 minutes before it opens and I get to hear the schpeil about buying the refillable mugs.
Somewhere in the back of my mind I remember someone writing about finding a good place to put your stuff before you run off and get lockers or anything else GOOD ADVICE! We end up getting a nice place under some clothe so that well have shade all day. Then we head off to the lockers.
The park is mostly empty so it doesnt take long to get our lockers and towels should have taken towels from the lodge. After putting our valuables in the locker we head over to the part of the park I really wanted to take the kids, the shark tank! The first time through was tough for the kids, they forget to breath, lift their heads and suck in some water and almost panic. The second time was much better. The boys did much better but Sara panicked and had to be helped across the tank. That was the last time for her. The boys went back in again and thought it was great. We hope to take them to the Keys in a few years to go snorkeling in the Dry Tortugas, this was a good introduction for them.
Mom and Anthony head over to the speed slides and neither liked them too painful. Sara, Drew and I take the Lazy River to our spot in the park and go to the kids play area. After a few minutes we meet up with Mom and Anthony and hit the Family raft ride together then hit the wave pool.
We have lunch at Leaning Palms. Not that great but edible. The kids head off for the kiddie area and mom takes a quick nap as dad sits and watches the kids. We have a great day as we close the park.
Back at AKL we eat at the lounge and goof off in the room and on the balcony. An hour later the kids want to go in the pool. Seven hours in a water park and they want to go swimming. Im dreaming of bed, their dreaming of the water slide. We end up in bed at about 10:00 water logged and exhausted.
