The Cast:
Dave (jdads2), my DW Jackie (Dwofjdads2), Anthony (DS age 11), Drew (DS age 8) and Sara (DD age 5).
As I have explained on the resorts board we were given an upsell to concierge level from savannah view rooms. We were already given a great rate on the savannah view rooms to begin with so this was a huge upgrade.
Day 2:
During the past week my brother Chris, who now lives in San Francisco, called me to let me know that he would be meeting us in WDW. He wants to keep it a secret and yes, he actually confided in me. After being up for a million hours the day before I cant get any extra sleep because my brother believes that airlines only fly in the wee hours of the morning! No mater where he flies to he always arrives at 6:30am, that would be 3:30am PST (Psycho Time). So, I get a phone call from him at 6:30 letting me know he is at the front desk. I have already made arrangements with the staff at the AKL for my brother to stay with us so he just picked up his key and called me. I get of the phone with him and my DW mumbles Was that Chris
Yes
is he here?
Yep
Oh, that's cool...zzzzzzzzzzz
We chit chat and get some coffee from the coffee machine delivered to the AKL from the hands of GOD!!! We also take advantage of the delicious pastries, bagels, muffins and juices. There is also lots of fresh fruit to chose from along with oatmeal with some fixins you can add and some cereals. After about an hour we decide to wake my mom and dad. What a great surprise! They couldnt believe he was there! Next we had to try and get my sister from her resort to AKL in order to be surprised.
We called her and told her that mom wanted to ride with them to MGM. Chris had the idea to get a birthday card for her, meet her downstairs when she arrived and tell her he couldnt find a stamp so he decided to hand deliver it. She cried. After an impromptu reunion we let Chris get some sleep and head over to MGM.
HOT HOT HOT!! Its not getting any cooler out here! We have been told that this is Hunchbacks last day of shows, EVER!! So we head that way in order to get a seat. We grab the umbrella from Singing in the Rain and get a much-needed drizzle! Hunchback was packed! Twenty-five percent of the audience had to be CMs, they didnt want to miss the last day of shows either. It was a great show. We headed back through the park and did ToT and RnR 2xs each and then headed back to the resort for some snacks and to cool off in the pool.
The pool was almost too hot to be refreshing. Soaking in it for and hour did help, especially once you got out. The kids all loved the pool and Drew decided that he would try the slide. He did not like the slide at the Poly because of the dark tube you go through. Well, once he got on this slide we could barely get him off! He had a blast! As for the other two kids, they agreed that the pool at the Poly was better. DW and I liked the Poly pool more because we liked the sand. She liked the AKLs pool more because the temperature of the water made it possible for her to stay in it longer, I liked the Polys pool because it was colder .granted, it was late October when we were there last year. Temperature being equal we liked the beach at Poly more .but we also loved the hot tubs at the AKL .decisions, decisions!!
That evening we went to the Luau at the Poly. We have been to the Hoop-Dee-Doo Revue and loved it. The Luau would have been much more enjoyable if it hadnt been 90 degrees outside. The food and show were very good but it was too hot to fully enjoy. We had dinner there with friends of ours who are CMs and they told us that they are planning on closing this for a time in order to update it. What update means they werent really sure. Could be stage and show updates (more likely) to air conditioning updates (less likely). Time frame of soon.
Our friends also told us about the increase in characters around the parks. Even some characters were going to be on the ferry from the TTC to MK (Chip and Dale) and maybe on the Mono and busses! Was to start October 1st.
After the Luau we headed to MK to see Spectromagic. It was the only time showing during our stay. We were there in plenty of time so we got a pretty good spot for us to watch it. We had our kids stand behind a man and woman sitting on the curb. She was holding a camcorder. Just as the parade got near our location she stood up in front of the kids and started to film. I understand that she got there before us and she has the right to stand, but she was 510 (easily) and it would have been nice if she let my 1 4 son and the 2 less than 4 girls that were next to him stand in front of her. Her husband let 2 of the kids stand in front of him (he was 6 plus). I thanked him for doing it. She turns around and says to her husband Can you see OK? The guy is 2 feet taller than the kids! The floats are 12 high or more. Is she worried about filming the wheels? Maybe I shouldnt have been disappointed in her reaction. My DW and I always make sure we arent blocking the views shorter folks yes that is easier for us since we tower at 57 but the point is that we make sure kids get a decent view. Sorry for ranting. The kids finally got a decent view when another woman with kids had ours sit with her kids. Thank You!!
We all loved the parade and made an easy stroll out of the park and back to AKL. Early bedtime for us this night, only 11:30!!
Next: Time to end the crankiness!!
