I went to JCP yesterday to look around and wanted to find DD13 a piece of jewlery. Found a cute little silver frog necklace holding her birthstone. I asked how much it was. The sales lady said it was on sale for $55 regularly $145. I said that I wanted it and that I had more shopping to do. I go and finish shopping and go to get the necklace. The sales lady said she had made a mistake and the the price she gave me was the BF price, but I could still buy it at that price. I just couldnt take it until after BF starts. If I wanted to buy it and take it, it would have cost me $80 at the current sale price.

So I went with the BF price and got a claim check, to comeback with to pick it up. The sales lady said that they were doing a lot of items this way. Pre-buy it and pick up later.

I don't think I would be comfortable doing that. I would be to afraid they wouldn't keep track and would run out of stock, leaving me without whatever item I had already paid for. Sounds like a very strange business practice from a store like Pennys.

The item was boxed and bagged up receipt and claim form stappled to bag, and then put into case for such items. Its kind of like lay away.

It is called "pre-sale". Fine jewelry items can be purchased at the BF sale price. Credit cards are the only form of payment accepted. Items are bagged, tagged with customer's name, and locked in the safe. Customer's can pick up the items at their convenience :).

I've done it quite a few times. Perfectly safe. :thumbsup2

It is only in the fine jewelry dept.,and only for certain sales. We usually offer pre-sell for BF, Billion Dollar sale in the spring and fall, and sometimes for Valentine's Day and Mother's Day.
