We ate there last Tues night, and it was incredible! We ate on the top floor balcony, with a wonderful view of DtD. Great spanish guitarists outside, beautiful weather... The perfect way to end our day at DLR.:thumbsup2

I had the Abita beer battered catfish, DH had some sort of chicken fried pork, and DM had the Pasta Jambalaya. Kids were very happy with their meals too. For dessert, Paul came by the table and made me the best bananas foster ever! And he taught me step-by-step how to make it at home.

It is yummy! We had Thanksgiving dinner there a few years ago and I had turducken...it was really good. And I love the atmosphere of that restaurant. We didn't have a balcony seat, we were inside at a window facing DTD though.

We ate there Sunday night. I was expecting chain quality food (like Bubba Gumps) - not bad but not out of this world.

Man were we surprised. I was in heaven with my first bite of food.

I had:
Panéed Chicken Bercy
Pan-fried Parmesan and herb breaded chicken breast, topped with artichoke hearts, portobello mushrooms and sun-dried tomatoes. Served with andouille grits and a roasted shallot white wine sauce

They were out of the grits - so it came with Mashed Potatoes. It was to die for. The best food I have had in years.

My husband had:
Blackened Salmon and Crawfish Tails
Salmon filet blackened in a cast iron skillet, topped with crawfish tails and served with green onion popcorn rice, bacon pecan green beans and finished with a champagne beurre blanc sauce.

He loved it. The kids kept eating his crawfish tails (looked kind of like little shrimp)

This was by far the best meal we had during our visit.

I love sitting on the balcony and listening to the musicians. The last time I went there, I had the bananas foster for the first time. Practically all of the burners were broken, so the waitress was having a hard time. Then when she tried to make the big flame appear, it didn't work. So another waiter came and guess what? More rum for us! I was sad that the ice cream was melted since it took so long, but man was that a lot of rum.

totally off-topic and I fully apologise....

I am glad you had a wonderful meal :) sounds like a nice place to go, and the food sounds great

here is my :offtopic: what are grits?

Jazz kitchen is really amazing. :wizard:

I love their ‘Big Easy themed’ private party facilities and event planning services. I love their mouthwatering Louisiana cuisine and the live jazz played at Flambeaux’s every night.

I had to look to see where you were from. Grits are a corn dish from the American south. They are what they sound like, little bits of ground corn with a gritty texture. They are often flavored with cheese, brown sugar, or a variety of other things, but are much more often left uneaten. I worked for Crackerbarrel for years, the world's largest purveyor of grits, and 70% went untouched. They are traditionally eaten at breakfast and are white or a very pale yellow. I wouldn't put them in my mouth for big money.
Often pronounced in an exagerated "gree-itz".

Thanks for the info, as you saw I am from New Zealand and we don't have this....delicacy here....other things like Paua (abalone) fritters and Chocolate fish (marshmallow filled)- but no Grits.

to be totally honest, I don't think I'd eat them either - but good to know before I mistakenly order some! Thanks :)

Lots of people do like grits - they are like corn porridge. They can be either savory or sweet (I prefer savory with lots of cheese!). It's basically the same thing as Italian polenta (soft).

I've heard good things about this place before. Do you need reservations?

I would suggest making a priority seating. They can get pretty busy at peak dining times.

The double chocolate bread pudding is my favorite dessert in the whole world. Not to be missed!!!!

Yum! I love their pasta jumbalaya.. My boyfriend and I did brunch there last year for our 7 year annaversary and the jazz band was great!

I'll have to try the banana foster, I keep hearing it's amazing! :cutie:

I thought it was good here, but not up to the hype that others have said. It was good, not great.

I am so thrilled to see this thread Paul is AWESOME! So is Ric!

I think that overall Jazz Kitchen is really good, but I have had two off trips, with bad servers and once a worse manager. But I have also had so many great trips there it has made me really enjoy eating here. I really like Jazz Kitchen!

BTW always ask the servers what they suggest and listen to them, every time our table listened to what the server suggested everyone loved their food, the times they didn't they were disappointed.
