Jay-nee's journal

We still have sun! 3 days in a row. I'll take it!

WI day - I'm at 148 lbs. I really need to get back into a routine again, but just can't seem to do it. I've lost so much motivation, but I keep trying... Today I will bike and do my Bowflex routine too. I will eat OP, no extra "treats."

Thankfully, even though my eating has been off plan and my exercise more off than on, my weight is still within my "ok" range. I seem to be hovering between 145 and 149 and I am totally cool with that. If I could get back into my exercise routine, probably the last of my jiggles would firm up (my now little belly).

It's harder to set goals now. I want to maintain and want to stay fit. But what to "shoot" for? And, how do I do this day in and day out?

The guy that sits next to me at work has this candy store (free - argh!). Most days, 7 out of 10, I do great and just walk on by. But, he has this HUGE container of peanut M&M's that call my name! I need to stop doing that! NO more candy or ice cream either starting today! I will start walking all the way around to get to the printer and mail rooms. It will work!

Okay, my new goals for the summer.

(1)I will work out 200 minutes a week on the bike, Bowflex, and pilates combined (SUN to SAT each week).
(2)I will stay under 148 lbs all summer and will, healthily, work towards 140 with 145 being my high "ok" weight.
(3)I will eat OP - very few "extra" sugars, etc. I will allow myself one small "treat" a week (a small soft serve ice cream or 2 homemade cookies, etc).
(4)NO more candy at work!!!!
(5)I will establish a twice monthly reward for reaching these goals. On the 15th and the 30th, I will reward myself...(will come up with reward later).
(6)write in my paper journal at least 5 times a week. Journal my eating and exercise on WISH to help keep me accountable at least 3 times a week. WI on Tuesdays too.

Reevaluate these goals on Labor Day weekend and regoal for Halloween.

Ok, I think I hit everything, if not, I can add. I think this will work. It's relatively short term and it is completely doable. Today I have set my new goals and I will achieve them.

Happy Tuesday all! I feel better now, I have a direction and I won't worry about failing now. I know I can do this. :goodvibes

Well, I made it through with NO candy at work! I am so pleased with myself! I can do this one no problem! Especially after today, our system was down and it was so boring! I brought some old magazines into work and I even had time to read through one. That's pretty bad... Usually we are really, really busy.

I bought new jeans and 2 pairs of shorts too. I feel so good about this because I decided to stick with my 10's. I am just so happy to be a size 10 again that I don't "need" to be an 8. It is not a goal, it is stupid. I can fit in them snugly, but I want to learn to be happy here. (just firmed up a bit ;) ) Months ago, I was begging to be a 12. So, I am going to be happy being a very comfortable 10 in life. :sunny:

I've eaten OP yesterday and today and just to do that feels great! :flower: :flower:

I am working on getting exercise back into my life, but I was not ready yesterday and I am truly tired today (end of TOM). I'm ok with this too. At least I'm thinking about it and that's a start. I know I will work this back into my life in the next few days, I needed to get my eating OP 1st anyway.

So, that's the 2 day summary. How sweet it is! :teeth:

You have lost almost 50 lbs. That is so amazing and a size 10 is great. I think the summer goals sound good. I want to reach that point where I can be happy to hover in the 140s!!!!!! :cool1: It is hard to by-pass the candy, so one day at a time is great! I am eating sugar free fudgebars as my ice cream treat and they are low cal/low carb and low fat so that is a good treat.

Alas, another day without M&M's - my co-worker must have shaken that jar a handful of times, and I kept saying nope, no more of those for me! He said I'd break down and I said he didn't know me very well! I am very proud of myself for this feat alone.

Hi Calena! Thanks for stopping by! I appreciate the encouragement. I can't eat sugar free - I get migraines from all of those artificial sweeteners - yes, even Spenda too. Believe me, if I can do this anyone can, it was hard but I tried to be consistent. Now if I could just do the same with maintenance. I called WW and they found my lifetime # for me from 10 yrs ago, so I can go for free. I am going to start on Monday, it's just the next town over from here so it's handy. I really need the support, a lot.

Happy Thursday! :sunny:

going well. Today, I plan to begin my exercise plan in earnest. I am going to find a new time to work out on my days off - evenings are no longer working - summer weather is getting in the way of that. :teeth: And, I'm ok with that. I want to spend afternoons by the pool when I can and not have a schedule for dinner, etc. So, I'm thinking I will workout at 9am on my off days (Tues, Fri, Sat, and Sun).

So, here's the schedule:
Mon - ? pilates (WW meeting night)
Tues - bike and bowflex - 45 minutes
Wed - ? pilates
Thurs - ? pilates
Fri - bike and Bowflex - 45 minutes
Sat - bike and pilates - 45 minutes
Sun - bike and Bowflex - 45 minutes

So, as long as I do pilates on Mon, Weds or Thurs I will make my 200 minute exercise goal each week.

I am OP with my eating and am staying away from the candy and ice cream too. :goodvibes Of that alone, I am thrilled.

So, a good start...

Great new goals! I bet you look great in those 10's.

and shame on your co-worker for shaking that candy at you! You'll show him!

Thanks for stopping by my journal- your comments were really helpful.

Have a great Friday!

hi jaynee!!
i cannot believe you hae lost so much weight--i am so proud of you! thanks for keeping an eye on me too--i have missed you guys and i need to get back into journaling...hope to "see" you soon

1st - thanks Jen and Christin for stopping by! Plus Kathy for the nice PM too. It helps alot...

Well, I did it! I rode my bike and did my Bowflex routine also! Yippee! Plus, I actually enjoyed it! I think I am on the road to regular exercise! Today, bike and pilates once the kids are up. I think my new time will work better too. It's funny - all evening I kept thinking I was skipping out and I kept having to remind myself that I already worked out! :cool1: So I enjoyed myself instead - I watched "Hope Floats," it's a cute flick. I haven't watched a movie without the kids in ages...

I ate OP all day yesterday. I did have my once a week treat (a small chocolate soft serve in a plain cone) - very yummy!

I am just so thrilled to have exercised yesterday. It's so good for my psyche. I need those endorphins so badly! :)

Well, I just wanted to share!

Happy Saturday all! :sunny: :sunny:

Have a great day with your kids. Enjoy the nice weather while you have it. Lynne said it basically rained the last 2 months she lived along the coast near Biddeford. She moved out of her apartment on May 25. It was nice that day because she was leaving (according to her).

Keep up with you great job at maintaining.

Hi, Jay-nee! Congrats on getting into those size 10s. :sunny: Thats a great accomplishment. I'm stuck in my size 14s now & can't wait to get where you are. Heck, I'd love to be in 12s. Every week I try on my size 12 shorts & they never fit!!! Don't let the candy guy at work get ya down. That would totally do me in. I can't imagine having to sit with all that temptation next to my desk.

I kind of already blew it for today, but it's cool... I made peanut butter fudge for a grad party we are going to today. I cleaned the bowl - oh, so, yummy! The good thing is that I won't eat any at the grad party! :flower:

I also made mac salad - I've been kind of busy today because I'm trying to beat the heat today...

I rode my bike and did pilates yesterday. It feels so great to exercise in the morning and have the whole day not stressing about where I am going to fit it in. Plus, it's cooler in the morning too. It was 95 here yesterday, it was like being at WDW in Sept without the AC everywhere. We only have 1 AC in and had it cranked up all day yesterday and will do the same today. I need to put at least one more in - hopefully 2, but they are a pain in the neck!

So things are good.

Jane E and Kathy - thanks for stopping by. No extra time today, but I will do journals hopefully later today... :sunny:

Happy Sunday! :sunny: :sunny:

Hi Jay-nee

I'm learning to love the morning workout, too. With these hot days, we have no choice!

How'd the grad party go? Hope the fudge didn't call your name again :earboy2:

Congrats on the size 10s! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

What pilates do you do? Do you follow a tape? I love Pilates but haven't been doing it for a while now.

Keep up the great work!

Sunny

We are also enjoying a heat wave, which makes some exercise a challenge! I am concentrating on swimming right now, with jogging in the water too. Yesterday I was going to go jogging before church and DH said I was nuts! So I did T-Tapp instead in the basement where it was cool. Once we got going to church, I realized it was not as hot as he thought. This morning is much hotter.
In January when it is -10 I will remember my complaints about the heat - too hot to jog! Then it will be too cold and icy to jog! It is funny, when you live in the Great White North and complain about the winter and the heat in the summer! :rotfl:
Your new plan sounds great. You have come so far in your weight loss journey! An inspiration!

Yippee! I'm doing pretty good. Yes, Sunny, the fudge fairy has called my name (ooops!), but it's ok. I've done well other than that!

The grad party was GREAT! He is such a great kid! What a huge feat for him. He now has a job and he seems so happy now. It was nice to meet his "other" side of the family (really his only side). I feel so lucky to have been invited with the kids too.

I have to work M-T-W this week, but then I am off until July 11th! My 40th is on the 5th! (excited and bummed ;) ). I've got a petsitter! So, the kids and I can go to DMs for my bday! I am so excited that it worked out. Plus, I have some exciting news and I will share it as soon as I can.

Sunny - I do Winsor Pilates. I just stick with the basic DVD mostly, but I have a bunch of them. I just am not consistent enough to incorporate the others yet. I try really hard to concentrate on the biking as my primary exercise (for my knee) and everything else is gravy from there.

calena - it is so sticky here - the humidity kills us northerners. I live about 5 to 10 air miles from the ocean so usually it keeps the humidity down, but dang, when it sets in, it likes to stay. People who love this kind of heat need to move to Alabama or Mississippi! We just keep jumping in the pool each day!

Well, I stayed away from the peanut M&M's again today - day 3! Yes, I am proud. He's still shaking that jar though, but now I just laugh! :rotfl:

Happy Monday all! I am thinking about going to the WW meeting tonight, but I'm not sure...

I'm doing ok with my new goals. I have been mostly OP with my eating and exercise too.

Still no peanut M&M's!

I am now officially on vacation for 11 whole days! I was so in need of a change of pace, this was great timing. I better enjoy it because no more time off until Sept... We'll be heading to my DMs on Tuesday for 5-6 days, that will be fun! I'll spend my Bday with family. :goodvibes All my Bdays when I was with my husband were really, really not fun, so I am so looking forward to this! My 1st really HAPPY Bday in a lot of yrs!

I got 2 Kristen Hannah books out of the library for my long week. I started one last night, it's pretty good. I need some light, quick reading. I'm so glad I've started reading again. I really love to read...

Because we are taking next week off to go up to DMs the kids won't be finishing school until the end of July. They don't care. They will still have the whole month of Aug off and possibly the last week in July too. Then we are taking 2 weeks off in Sept, so I think it will work out fine for them. DS will be doing his foreign languages through the summer anyway, just to stay fresh. He's taking latin and trying to teach himself russian too. I told him to go for it! He loves them both. DD is taking French, but wants to learn Italian too. We'll see, she's only 11! So ambitious. She's finally started playing her keyboard again! I am so pleased - I LOVE to hear her play. She plays so well, so natural for her. DS likes it when she plays when he is working on his school work, he told her it too. She was pleased because she thought it might drive him crazy so she was turning the volume way down...

Well, I will be exercising when the kids get up and start school. Bike and bowflex today.

Happy Thursday all! :sunny: :sunny:

Happy Birthday, in advance! I love spending birthdays with family, although it's been a while since I've done this.

Isn't the summer a great time to read. I read all day yesterday since I was traveling, and it made the day so much better!

Have a great friday!

Enjoy your vacation and use the time to relax. I know the stress you are dealing with. Take some time just for youself and give you mind a chance to clear.

Thanks for the support on my journal. The hotel has put in all new cardio equipment (2 treadmills, 2 ellipticals and 2 recumbent bikes). I usually use the ellipticals because I can get my heartrate up higher and feel I have accomplished something. The time seems to fly by becasue each piece of equipment has a TV built into the console so I usually find something to watch instead of the timer.

I am feeling better today but not 100%. It would be nice to know what is causing the pain but at least the medicine has reduced it.

Hope you get in some quality time with your mom.

Stay away from the M&M's and enjoy this tiime with your family.

Good morning all! (Jen - thanks for the Bday wishes)

I've been so busy! I cleaned out the hay loft in the barn yesterday. Brought an entire truckload of scrap wood to the dump. Plus, I just moved stuff around up there to see what was actually there. My soon-to-be xH would never take anything to the dump nor would he fix it so I have all of this junk just everywhere. Plus, he's going to get the truck in the divorce, so I just want to make sure I get as much to the dump as I can while I have the truck. There is scrap wood everywhere. I will make another big dump run when I get back from DMs. I wish we could go now, but we can't so I'm trying to make the best of it.

The kids and I went in the pool yesterday afternoon - the water was 80 degrees and really, really nice. There was quite a breeze though and once you were out, it was quite brisk. But I laid out in the sun to dry off anyway and proceeded to fall asleep - oops! But it was a nice nap. I needed it. Thankfully, no sunburn for the extra 20 minutes or so. Hoping to enjoy the pool again today and tomorrow before we head to DMs.

I went to mow the lawn and the stupid tractor won't start - the battery is dead. I knew it was dying, but it's officially dead now. stb-xH has the jumper cables so I will, hopefully, be able to get someone to come up to jump it today for me. What a pain. These are my daily trials though and I am growing accustomed to them, I barely stress anymore about them - a little bit, but then I move to solution mode. No time to wallow in self-misery - I have things to do!

The garden is starting to grow. The zuchinni, summer squash, pumpkins, and pickling cukes are all up. I replanted one mound of cukes (I think the deer ate them) and 2 days ago planted baby watermelons (hope its not too late), green beans, and green onions. I also put a string fence around the garden and hung tin pie plates off the string - hopefully that will keep the deer out, we'll hope! Sadly, the rhubarb has gone by. I will fertilize it for next year in the fall (pony poop is a wonderful thing to have available!). It came in so good this year and the kids LOVE it!

The weather has been beautiful here. Crisp evenings, perfect for sleeping, and comfortable, sunny days. This is Maine summer and I LOVE it! I hope it continues all week for my vacation - that would be a very nice Bday present in and of itself! (keeping my fingers crossed)

DS still wants to climb Mt Katahdin for my Bday - we may go up and do some of it, just for fun! DDs foot is not a ton better, but she didn't want to do this anyway, so she can stay with DM if we do an attempt.

Well, hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the LONG weekend.

Happy Sunday! :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

I like you positive attitude. I hope you and you ds have a great time hiking. They grow up so fast and the next time you blink they will be in college.

Have a great bday with you dm. It's always nice to be around family for important days. My own dm is 2.5 hours away and I don't see her near as often as I used to before my crazy schedule of spending 2 -3 weeks per month on long island.

Enjoy your vacation. i hope the weather stay nice and you get alot of time to relax.
