Can anyone tell me if the Jaws ride is too intense foe a pregnant woman? Wife was looking forward to riding Jaws, and is wondering if there is a restriction for expectant mothers.

Also - if the restriction is due to fear, or due to the ride itself being "jerky".

Has anyone "expecting" ridden Jaws before?

Thanks.

I work at JAWS, and it does have posted warnings for pregnant women, as well as for back neck and heart conditions etc... The ride can be rather jerky (depending on which boat you end up on), but not near the level of Back To The Future. There are some loud and startling effects.

This is kind of like the question I get all of the time when I'm out at greeter. "Is this ride too scary for my kid?" Everyone has different reactions, and physical limitations. I would recommend that you ride first, and judge for yourself. I won't guarantee anything, but if you ride during a slow time, you can try asking the load attendant if Rolls can be disabled for your boat.

The best time to ride is before/during a "Wild West" stunt show. That is when our lines are shortest. Especially before the first show, since most people who have worked their way to the back of the park that early go to the West show.

Conversely, the WORST time to try to ride JAWS (and MIB) is right after a West show since half the people in the theater come to JAWS or MIB. In less than five minutes time we can go from a 5-10 minute wait to a 45-50 minute wait.

Thanks, chainsawwolf! We always appreciate expert advice!

I would add that there are some really gross smells on Jaws, especially when they're in the enclosed "boathouse", which might not be good for a pregnant woman. I know that all fumes made me sick when I was pregnant and found out from my obstetrician that the enhanced sense of smell is actually to protect the fetus! I have really bad sinuses and can't smell a thing now but those fumes really get to me.

Thank you very much!!

Since you are an actual operator - would you ride Jaws if you were pregnant?

It's hard to say (especially since I'm 44 and Male) and really depends on the individual. I've seen several expectant mothers on JAWS. My wife didn't ride while she was expecting our youngest, but only because she had uterine fibroids that almost resulted in early labor. Check with your OB, and get his/her recommendation.

And who'd think you'd find it on a thread about Jaws??? :p

OK....

You do read the strangest things here. I imagine that ET must make someone nuts then. That attraction has the most distinct smell of any that I can think of. My sister always talk about the "ET Smell"

One of my Leads complains about how her bf comes home with that "smell" every night. Bad ET! :p

I can hear it now...

Girlfriend: "Honey, what is that alluring smell?"

Boyfriend: "Eau au E.T."

:)

I don't think its that intense for pregnant woman u should be fine just don't get bit:p

I know that E.T. smell!!! Its like a mixture between stage Fog and manufactured fake dust...lol... it smells *exactly* like the science building where im going to school... I diddnt know anyone else payed attention to "the smell"
