Hi! So after scouring the internet and old posts on the dis, I found a lot of information on the jawas location and trading, however I can't find anything about times. Are they there all day? It seems odd that they would be there as early as park open? Is it random? Are there typical times?

We saw them yesterday at around 10 am and again about an hour before closing. They were trading in the morning but not at night. I haven't seen a schedule and last year they were not in the cantina when we arrived (possibly just a break, I don't know). So unfortunately I don't have a good answer for you. The storm troopers seem random as well.

I'm not sure what they typically give you in return because they refused to make a trade with us, but I can tell you that they won't take those free Disney stickers the CMs hand out or Mickey straws
I suggest being more prepared than we were!

We got droid parts. We brought light up bouncy balls - and they had star wars characters on them - they had a blast with them (got them at target dollar aisle). They were trading in the afternoon when we went.
They wont trade for maps, straws disney stickers napkins.
Think shiny metallic or light up.

Did they trade random trinkets or droid parts?

Both. They trade what they've got. We got droid parts and trinkets that got from people before us. One little girl was happy to get the glow ring my DD had just traded away. When they didn't have anything to trade they took the trinkets the kids had and just swapped them around and gave them back. They liked the glow rings and light up balls we had (played catch with my DD). They also liked anything that looked like a droid. They were very interested in trading for a little boy wearing R2D2 ears.

My kids traded light up rings with them on Thursday. Got glow sticks in return. They were thrilled.
