Japan Trip Report-May 2024

I chose Peter Pan for standby because the Frozen one seems to always have a long wait but I had a feeling Peter Pan would close down. I just didn’t expect it to last all day. We did the Snuggly Duckling mobile order early this morning because I figured those times would be gone fast too. We ate there around 10:40. It was really cute inside.

The weather was awful this morning. Very windy and raining pretty hard for a while. It wasn’t fun waiting for the park to open.
Terrible weather today! Way worse than yesterday here in Kyoto too. That’s crazy happy entry took so long. I have a 6:30 breakfast opening day but I might just skip it and get in line instead. Quite frankly all the Disney food looks pretty dreadful to me so I won’t be too bummed if I miss Oceano.

They only had one security line for all of the happy entry people and it moved very slowly. Close to the time the park opened they finally opened another security but it still took a really long time.

We’ve been eating a lot of food from the convenience store at the Disneyland hotel. The food lines at the parks are extremely long and mobile order times run out early. I also have a hard time finding things to eat

Wow, hopefully they open two for opening day, I imagine they have to set the happy entry people all on before regular guests so you’d think they would want to speed it up!

I hear you on convenience food. I think I had 3 tuna mayo onigiri in my first 12 hours. I’m glad I have a couple reservations otherwise I’m not sure I’d eat much interesting stuff despite being a foodie I’m a bit anxious to just walk into places still so combinis are safe right now. I’m looking forward to Disney being a bit “easier” at the end of the trip in that sense even if I have to wait in lines.

I’m really confused by the huge groups of school kids. We saw them yesterday and today

I saw several in Sept and some stayed at the hilton which was the only time I really noticed them. One night there was a bunch of them in the konbini in the hotel. I just felt bad they have to wear their uniforms in the parks.

Around 12 pm today I saw at least 50 or more entering the park together. They’re all very respectful though. I was just surprised. I guess they come here for school trips.

I probably won’t type up full day reports for Disney until we get back because it’s been a little hectic. We’ve been waking early and staying until close most days with a nap in the afternoon.

Tonight we were able to ride Rapunzel and Peter Pan. Rapunzel is short but very cute and has great animatronics. I was pleasantly surprised by Peter Pan. I was worried about the amount of screens on the ride but it’s really well done and lots of fun. I’m glad we picked to ride that over Frozen since it’s so different than Peter Pan at WDW.

The weather was insane tonight. Wind gusts of 54 mph and raining hard. It was hard leaving the park. The next two days show no rain and sunny so I’m excited for that

You had better luck then I did. Since I had an alarm for 7:15 yesterday, I needed to change it one hour and set it for 8:15 instead of 6:15 which actually messed up my day.

I actually woke up naturally at 7 something and was able to get to the park in time to grab Standby Pass for Peter Pan even without Happy Entry but as I was waiting in line to enter Fantasy Springs, the ride went down and never reopened.

It was also frustrating going into mobile order, selecting a time, then having it error and tell me that time was no longer available. I think earlier times in the day were still available for a while but there were just no slots available for my late timeslot despite Lookout Cookout looking like it had availability. So I ended up basically doing nothing in Fantasy Springs other than walk around in the evening and take pictures. I guess I did buy one of the newly released items from a restaurant outside Fantasy Springs. The winds starting around 8PM where the strongest I've ever felt in Japan so it actually felt a bit dangerous. I actually know someone who got stranded due to public transit shutting down so I can understand why so many people left early.

Wait times for rides outside Fantasy Springs were really low today but I didn't take advantage of them since I left after lunch before returning in the evening. I actually had something in the afternoon and wasn't planning to go in to the park today until I saw DPA and Standby Pass being available. Not sure the ticket money was well spent but I guess if there's more sneaks this week, I'm a bit more prepared.

The winds were really bad. We were pushing ds in the stroller and he cried on the way out because of the wind and rain. We don’t have a plastic cover for our stroller.

We do DisneySea again on Thursday but I’m not sure we’ll even try to visit fantasy springs. It’s so hectic and far away from everything else in the park. Ds hasn’t talked about it at all. He LOVED tower of terror and aquatopia and really wants to do those again.

We went this morning and they did a much better job with Happy Entry. On Tuesday they let regular day guests through security at the same time as HE and it was a disaster. Today they only let HE guests in and had more security lines open. It went very smoothly and we were able to get a standby for Peter Pan and a Premier Access for Frozen. We also got a standby pass for the Emporio and bought tons of Fantasy Springs merch. We feel very lucky we got to visit the new area twice before it opened. We all agreed that Peter Pan was our favorite out of all of the rides.

Oh yay! I am so happy that you guys got to see it!

Watching very carefully what is happening over there. We will be there in July but are staying at Hilton, so not sure we'll be able to see much. You might have gotten to see more than we will getting there before it even opens!

We got into the park around 8:05 and the first time I tried for Frozen they were all gone. Dh tried on his phone and was able to find one pop up. So if you have more than one person with you I would definitely have all of you on the same account trying. The premier access went way faster than the standby.

Also, know where you want to eat (if it’s in fantasy springs) and mobile order right after getting your ride passes

Did your ticket show two entry times or did it only show the earliest entry time?
Like time 1/time 2 for the DPA and Standby Pass?

I'm sure a lot of people will find it annoying being stuck in Fantasy Springs prison if their DPA and Standby Passes are separated by several hours.

Oh that is interesting. And that is a good tip on the dining!

It showed two separate times. Each one was about 3 hours long. The standby pass was for morning and premier access was for around 5 pm. The rides break very frequently also so sometimes we walked back there only for the ride to be closed. Then they gave us a multiuse pass

If you have a DPA for a FS rides and one in in the morning and one is hours later can you leave FS and come back in???Could you for instance go to DS and ride things there and come back for your DPA for FS???

What color was your Multiple Experiences Pass and did you use the priority or standby line when you redeemed it? I got a purple one for Peter Pan and had to go back in the Standby Line. That was weird because whenever I got a Multiple Experiences passes in the past, I could use the Fastpass line.

Yes you can. We left and went back to the land a couple times each day, usually once in the morning and once at night. Each pass we had booked gave us about 3 hours in the land. We were never able to get more than one PA though

Ours was pink and we had to go in the standby line also. However, one day we decided not to wait the 45 minutes for Peter Pan so instead used the multiuse pass at tower of terror and there they let us go in the fast pass line. So my guess is if it’s a standby pass for a FS ride you have to still go through standby but if you use it outside the land you can go through the fast pass line

That makes sense. I only had a 20 minute wait for Peter Pan and actually wanted to see the queue anyway so I actually preferred going in the Standby Line.

Was this a Standby Pass that turned into a Multiple Experiences pass automatically when the ride broke down? Or were you already in line when the breakdown happened and got your ticket scanned by a CM?

It was a standby pass that turned into a multiple experience pass but we had to enter into fantasy springs for it to change. Dh found that out. We didn’t have to be in the ride queue, just scanned into the land
