We've been to WDW in May, Sept., Oct. and first week of Dec. If I can talk DH into it, what would the last week of Jan. be like? Weather? Crowds? Hours? And where should we stay? We've been to the Disney Inn, GF, YC and BC. We are a family of 4 but with DD at 12 and DS at 10 we feel like we need some extra space/privacy (or I get to sleep with DD, the octopus!) Any input would be greatly appreciated!!

We have gone to Disney every January for the past 10 years....don't tell anyone......its the best time to go!! Yes, the park hours are shorter, example 9 to 6 even for magic kingdom, but there are no crowds, lines and no need for fastpass. The one exception is over the marathon weekend and martin luther king holiday weekend, I hit these each once and now always try to avoid them. This year we are leaving the end of january thru the 1st week of february....it should be perfect. Another drawback to january is the weather, it can be very cold....although we always manage to swim at least one day, we even wore our winter jackets last year......Its just the best time to go!! As far as rooms go, I have a family of 5 and we all usually dont go together anyway, but when we did I opted for 2 rooms at the carribean beach, this way, and most importantly, 2 bathrooms!!!
I have also been in the summer, and december and later in february and always go back to january!!
:D

We've been to WDW each January for the last 3 years. We love it! With the exception of MLK Weekend, there are no crowds--we didn't even notice anything different last year with the Marathon. Crowds are LIGHT and you can easily tour the parks in just a few days. We've never waited longer than 10 minutes for any ride in mid-January.

Weather can be iffy. 2003 was the only COLD vacation we've had. The other years we were in the 70's for most of the time. Rain is usually non-existent the week we're there.

Have a great time!

We only go during January. And like the other poster stated the lines are 10 minutes max. and the characters spend alot of time w/the kids. My girlfriend has gone during the summer, Xmas, spring break and mid January. She liked the January trip the best.
She said she got so much more done.

I'm also from MN. We've gone in Jan. the last two times we have gone. It's great! I agree with the others, the wait time for rides, etc. is very minimal. The weather has been warm enough for swimming, hey, anything over 60 at that time is warm enough for swimming for my family. We've had jackets with us (spring-type) but I don't know that we've ever worn them more than twice on our two trips.

Thanks for the replies! Sounds like a trip in Jan. might be in order. It's getting harder to take DD - 12 out of school but she has a two-day break the end of Jan. so would only miss 3 days. My 4th grade DS could miss a week (he's a good student and has a great teacher this year who would be ok with it). We'd be going Jan. 25 - 31. Anyone know when the marathon is next year?

miche61 -LOL I know what you mean. My kids swim every Memorial Day weekend in northern MN - I swear the ice has only been out for a month! Jan. in Fla. should be no problem!!
