I have heard about the frequent early afternoon showers during summer but I wanted to know if the same holds true for the winter months, especially Jan? I know each year is different but I wanted to know in general what to expect as far as typical rain. Thanks!

We were there this past January for almost two weeks and it didn't rain at all. I don't know if that's typical, though. You may want to check historical forecasts on a weather site. The weather was quite chilly, especially by Orlando standards, and we were only able to do a water park once, and then just barely. The crowds are almost non-existent, though, and we practically walked onto every ride. Have fun planning!

We have been there in Jan for 1 week for the last 3 years and it has only rained once. It is a great time of the year to go but you never know what the temp will be. Two years ago it was 90 every day and last year one morning was only 28. You just have to pack for any kind of temp.

We were there in Jan 2000 & didn't see a drop of rain all week! It was great! Most days were in the 80's but it did drop into the 50's for our last 2 days. (Much better than the weather we ran into last December - monsooned for 3 days & then got down in the low 30's for our MVMCP.) We can't wait to go this Jan - we'll be packing for all types of weather! :D

January is a part of Florida's winter dry season. It generally doesn't rain a lot unless a cold front is advancing. And then rain doesn't alsways come with an advancing cold front. There may be ocassional rain but nothing like the summer.

I'm starting to worry that more and more people will discover the wonderful times to be had in Jan at WDW . . . then we can't have the place all to ourselves!

Kessieann - you will love it in Jan! As others said it may get cool at night, but the days are beautiful!

Harambe, I am getting that same feeling! I am making reservations at AKL for Jan. 16 - 20 today. DD is a member of the honors chorus for our school district and they are singing at MK on the 17th. We decided since this will be her last chorus trip(she's a junior and it's an ever other year thing) we'd go down and be groupies! LOL! Wear your lime green ribbon!

Great Tiggerkeeper! Sounds like a wonderful MLK weekend for your daughter! Now - I did buy a bathing suit that I'm trying to diet for - so maybe I'll see you at the AKL pool (and no, it is not a lime green bathing suit!)
