Rules are simple: you decide what to track, how to track it and what your goals are. While many people choose to try for as many $0 days as possible (hence the "no buy" title), if some other target works for you, then go for it! [Stole this intro from MomtoOne]

My goals:
15 no buy days
Use my Starbucks tumbler every day - free drinks for all of January.
3 eat out days
1 - 2 errand days a week.

LOL Free lunch is still free lunch!

I need to give DS17 some date night no buy ideas. They went on a double date last night to the roller rink and dinner and it was expensive. They need to come up with some fun things to do that are free. I suggested the 4 of them each make items for a picnic and go to the park. they can bring a frisbee or something like that.

Joining :) last time I did one I was horrible and did not finish the month. I have DD birthday on the 3rd at American girl so we will have an expensive month......... goal is 15 no buy days

Put me down for 20 No Buy days. We need to cut back. Less grocery runs, less coffee and smoothies out, more planning. The boys said they want to go back to Disney so I told them to go we have to cut back. Thankfully I told them it might be a couple of years. :goodvibes

I am in. I need to start saving more and spending less.

I am aiming for 15 no buy days.

I will add this to my list. I'll go for 50% of days.

I have 12 envelopes(1 each month) to keep track of every single purchase.

Hopefully not buying will also help.

I gave up on No Buy years ago. Just makes me want to buy. Since I am about 25% through a complete remodel of my house, this will be a BUY year. Of course, since this is the first money I have put in the house in the 30+ years I have owned it, I guess I am overdue.

I am not buying clothes for myself for one year.
I snuck a pair of Keen sandals and workout shoes that I had my eye on and they both went on sale after Christmas.

I am trying to loose weight and get rid of clothes.

So this is my no buying for the year.

1. Nope
2. Gas - car. $38
3. Culligan -$17, Dr. Bill $20, heat bill $201. I made $15 by taking in my garbage bags that our Village does not want us to use. But my Water bill was $276. I had $100 from my parents for Christmas and. My son gave me $100, so I paid $76. Our car lease was due today too. My dh always insists on leasing.

I am trying to convince my dh to start remolding after 26 years. He thinks everything is fine, but I have been slipping things in that really need it. Our poor dog could not look out the front window, because the seal was broke and it had moisture in the middle. So, I got him to replace that window and six others. Now I am pushing for new carpeting downstairs and counter tops. It is not fun living in a 125 year old house, we want to sell and build.

I need to try the envelope system again. I did it over Christmas because I wanted to monitor my bank card after the whole Target debacle. I actually ended up wit money left over.

We had a big buy year last here in terms of new furniture. But 30+ years and no major purchases is not to shabby!!

DH went and bought me nothing but clothes for Christmas. And he did all his shopping at Nordstrom $$$$! I was like dude, I am not spending gobs of money on clothes that won't fit in 2 months. He's mad because I took it all back.

I'm going to try this for the month. I went kinda crazy on random purchases over Christmas (of course I need that Smash bOok accessory that's one sale...I can use those Christmas stickers to scrapbook for next year...- but most of it was in sale!). I have treated myself to the Sherman Brothers Songbook mp3 today from Amazon to help jump start my work outs hopefully and another album that was 3.99 but I think I can do this no buy thing. I kinda have an extra boost since I live at home still, but I can def. learn to cut back on eating out & Starbucks runs (w/o a gift card).

I'm aiming for no spending for 20 days.

Wow! Your hubby went all out! I would've done the same thing as you - returned them! I hate spending a lot of money on clothes. Comfortable shoes - yes, I will spend the money on.

I am going to try for 20 no buy days also, including groceries because I really want to try to stay out of the grocery store in between my big shopping trips every two weeks because I always end up with impulse purchases. The only other expenses I know of (besides bills and gas) are eye appts. for glasses for two of my sons this month so if nothing else comes up I should be good.

I'm in. I'll try for 15 no-buy days this month and no more than $100 on "me" stuff.

Could someone explain this 'no buy' thing?
If you need something, and it's a no buy day, don't you just go get it the next day? How does this save money? I get it if you are cutting out your daily coffee-down to every other day. But to just put off buying on Monday to Tuesday I don't get it.
