January must be a great time to visit

Stick a fork in me -- I think I'm done!

I'll see you at High Rock Springs! :teeth: I'll be the one yelling, "WEEEEEEEEEEE," as I make my way down the slide for the 100th time!

This is for January 2nd for the last five years:

YEAR.....HIGH.....LOW
2004.....80.........57
2003.....72.........53
2002.....61.........51
2001.....50.........41
2000.....79.........57

Let's just hope that 2005 will continue the upward rise in temp trend. We were there Jan 3-5 prior to a cruise in 2003 and at night I was wearing turtleneck sweaters! BUT, it was comfortable and you didn't have to worry about sticking to the person next to you in line! :scared:

We were at WDW last Jan 2 to 7th (2004) at VWL. The weather was great, sunny, warm and in the 80's until the evening of Jan 6th when a cold front and some rain came though. The day we left it was a big chilly (60's), but it made coming home to Michigan a little bit easier. We even had a great day at Blizard Beach one day. (with 2 children ages almost 3 years old.)

We were hoping for less crowds, but it was still rather busy. All in all it was a nice trip. I think I perfer early Dec (before Dec 20th or so) to early Jan, but the college where hubby teaches changed its schdule, and we have to go when we can.

This 2005 it will be March for us, but I found when we went to VB in May 2004 the weather was great, (we didn't do the parks at all.)

Good luck, and have a great trip.

We have visited several times in January, and it can be a great time - not too crowded. Just a few warnings, especially since you're from So. Cal. It can get quite chilly, even freezing, so bring warm clothes - it is rarely shorts weather in January, even in FL. Also, the parks close early each day, and usually the fireworks are only on weekends. And often you'll find a few rides closed down for rehab during this "slow" time.

That being said, if you are flexible and bring a good variety of clothes to wear, you should have a wonderful time!!

We go in January for the marathon, and I think this pretty much captures it. Expect shorter days at the parks, more rides in rehab, and bring more to wear than shorts, because it can truly get cold.

One year we only got to wear shorts one day, and my SIL wore a long wool coat the entire time. It was in the 20's when we got up one morning (we get up early). We couldn't walk on parts of the BoardWalk because it was too slippery! We had to stick to the grassy spots as much as possible. It was pretty sporty carrying coffee.

We will be checking in on Jan 2nd also, expect the parks to yourself and very up and down weather, very cool at night and warm not hot during the day. great place to excape the cold weather up north. Have fun.
