We're heading to DL next weekend and it looks like highs are expected to be in the 60s. I'm not sure what to pack! I know we'll need something warmer (jackets/sweatshirts) in the evenings, but is it warm enough for shorts during the day??? I'm coming from Seattle, where it's been 40 for a few months now, so I can't even comprehend what 65 and sunny is!

No, it is not warm enough for shorts. I live here and 65 and sunny is pretty chilly to me. If you are directly in the sun and it is not windy (which it has been lately) you will be warm in long pants and 3/4 or long sleeves. No need for jackets or sweatshirts. But once the sun goes down, be prepared for much warmer attire. I am very cold in the evenings. Maybe I am a wimp, what do others have to say?:confused3

BTW, have a wonderful vacation!

Unless you are just hot blooded, shorts really aren't necessary. Or likely a good idea.

With a high of 65....you have a couple of hours or not nearly that warm in the AM and at around 3:00PM the temp starts going back down.

So, long pants, comfy long sleeve/short sleeve shirts and a zip jacket so you can zip/not zip/zip halfway depending on the weather!!!

In December, I wore mittens in the morning...chilly damp, 42 and windy.(As did my friends from OK, so it wasn't just my whimpy San Diego blood!!!).

Have fun!!!!!!

I am from Longview, WA, so I can relate to the Seattle weather....We went at this time last year and are going next weekend. The weather looks to be about the same and I wore shorts and capris while I was there. The evening I wore capris or jeans. We were able to get away with shorts from opening until late afternoon without being uncomfortable. I am sure people will vary on this one.....We also swam in the pool at DLH when it was in the high 60's as well.

:) Here, 50 degrees is shorts weather, isn't it? :) Hubby will wear shorts wherever and whenever. He only changed into jeans tonight when I told him I thought it was about 36 out...he was out at 7am this morning wearing shorts and said he was fine. He was a bit chilly as we got in the car to go home, but that's probably only because it was a degree or two above freezing and his coat is more like a windbreaker with a cotton lining, then a good coat.

That said, it's wet up here, and it seems more dry down in Anaheim. The temperature difference over the course of the day is bigger, and so the nighttimes bug me more than I feel they should, and I think it's because there's such a difference between day and night! Much bigger than we have here.

So I would absolutely bring shorts AND pants, and bring the pants to change into in the evenings.

Now, if this were mid/late spring and we were coming OUT of winter, my advice would be 'wear shorts, absolutely!' because the same temperature feels SO much warmer when we've been through the whole winter and cold early spring. :)

Thanks for the feedback. Looks like I'll probably throw in a pair of shorts just in case, but I'm guessing I'll probably lean towards jeans or capris. I may get a little warm, but I seriously doubt I'll be too hot - and if I get too hot, it'll cool down fairly quickly in the afternoon or evening. Bumbershoot, my hubby sounds like yours - shorts wherever and whenever!

yeah, its a little warm in the day time and its freezing at night. So bring something to wear at night.

Well I'm from AZ & anything under 70 is cold BUT even tho the high was in the 60's, the low was in the 40's. I didn't need gloves or a hat, but a scarf was appreciated at night. You'll most likely be comfy in jeans & a light hoodie.

I think this is a regional thing. As Bumbershoot says, 50 is shorts weather in most of WA. We went in December and DH was determined to wear shorts. He wore shorts and a sweatshirt during the day but changed into pants after our afternoon break. I wore pants both days and was very comfortable. I think his was more of an attitude thing - "I'm in SoCal, it's sunny, I'm wearing shorts!"

Yep, I'm from WA state as well and I think 65 degrees is short weather, so I would bring capris and shorts as well.

Hubby & I just moved down here from Everett area. He has worn a jacket once in the past 2 months. We both have worn shorts on the weekends and at night (and it is a bit chillier where we are - not as far inland as Anaheim). We can't wear them during the week because of work dress codes. Remember that you will be moving around too, so that will keep you warmer too.

I do say though that whenever we go to DL and are going to be there after 7 pm, we still bring sweatshirts because the breeze can get pretty cold. And, weather.com states that it is going to be cloudy next weekend... Shorts & Pants are prolly your best bet (or capris). Don't pack/wear your heavy jacket to the airport though - you'll just end up lugging it around.
