January/February 2018 discounts, who else is in?

Soooo stressed! I gambled and waited for a discount and now my dates 1/1-1/12 are sold out :worried: for POP. This is the third time I've gone at this time of year and it's never been an issue!! Only freaking out because I'm going to run the Dopey challenge and POp is perfect. The two food courts are a huge help and it's close to the expo. Unfortunately, I gambled for a friend too :(.

Is there any chance things will open up!?
I am also going for the Dopey challenge. :) I qualify for the military discount and have been trying to get a discount or upgrade for the past two days but no luck, it seems everything is sold out :( I have an annual pass too so I will check for that when those are released.

But I do think there is a chance that POP could get more availability as we get closer to the race--people get injured, have work situations pop up, family emergencies, etc and end up bailing on the races and cancelling their trip. I'd keep checking, but also come up with a plan B.

We already are booked at POP for Feb 1-8. Do we just call and have the discounted rate added to our reservation?

If you booked on the phone you will need to call but be prepared for the potential of a looooong wait! It is not unusual on the day that new offers drop for wait times to be in excess of 4 hours and occasionally we hear of calls being dropped after that time. :worried:

I book an average of 15 - 20 trips a year for our family plus others. My experience has been that I much prefer to wake up early (checking online hourly at 3am, 4am, 5am....) and once the deal is offered online I either modify my reservation (if it is available to be modified) or, I book a completely new reservation and then when the madness slows down after a few days I call in and cancel my original reservation.

Once 7am hits the day the offers drop the phones and the online systems seemed to get slammed and it's often hard to get through on either.

Just sharing what has worked for me numerous times in the past and hopefully what will next week too as this time it's our family trip that I'm also hoping for a discount for.

Another thing to keep in mind with value availability is that once the discount is released, how many people currently booked for a value will upgrade to a moderate when they realize that they can get "more" for what they're already commited to spending anyway? This will lead to rooms opening up at the values, I'm sure.

That is exactly what I was thinking. Good luck everyone!!! Hoping for some pixie dust for all of us!

Does anyone know if we booked though a Disney TA, do we just contact them to have the discounted rate added to our reservation?

You can contact them and they can attempt to have the discount added but as with all others it will be based on availability at the time that they contact Disney.

Hi all! A Disney spanish internet site has posted in twitter (@viajeromagico) some details about Stay Play & Dine 2018 promo. This site owns a travel agency in Argentina. They say it will be for stays between 1/1/18 and 3/10/18. All Star Movies and POFQ excluded. 2 day tickets base minimum. And that can be booked beginning 10/3. They are usually very solid when giving rumors. Anyone can confirm this?

If this is true, I'm going to be irritated, because of course we're booked at All Star Movies. Any thoughts about me calling and making a change to another value? We're staying 01/03-01/09.

No offence at all to the original poster but it seems the information they were able to obtain is incomplete. It doesn't mention the AoA LM rooms being excluded and since the resort opened these rooms have always been excluded.

If it were me, rather than cancel my ASM reservation I would be tempted to book a second reservation at another resort that you think may be included in the discount if you want to hopefully have the discount applied.

Each person feels differently about booking/waiting. I tend to err on the side of booking and then cancelling what is not needed after.

Actually, if you look at the site the original poster mentioned, the source adds that the Little Mermaid rooms are also excluded. And the source also mentions that both the Moderate and Deluxe resorts should both include the Regular Dining Plan in the Play, Stay, Dine offer.

Hopefully, everything pans out next week and we can all book these discounts and move on with the rest of our obsessive overplanning! I need to start planning Fastpasses!

Ugh, it's just so hard to know what to do. I might call later tonight and see what else is available. If nothing else, I enjoy listening to the "on-hold" music.

After dealing with no availability at Pop for a couple of days now, I decided to book at AS Music even though the AS resorts were my last choice. This morning I woke up and immediately checked availability. I saw availability at Pop and was able to modify the reservation and grab two rooms at Pop. On top of that, there was a lot of availability at other resorts that were sold out yesterday. All this to say, keep checking! Things will become available.

What time do they normally release the discounts? Can you book online earlier than the phones open? (rookie questions, I know)
Yes you can book earlier online. Phones open up at 7, but the deals come out earlier on the website.Times have varied for the exact time they are added from what I hear. I think it was 6:00am the last time I woke up early to book.

Historically have they ever released the visa discount or Stay Play and Dine on a weekend?
