Have a good week everyone, keep up the good work!

Looking for some feedback from the runners in the group....

I did my first half 2 weeks ago. No problems, felt good afterwards, ran 3 miles with my running group 4 days later. Walked the dog a mile or two a couple times. But for the last 5-6 days, my calves ACHE when I walk fast or try to run. Is this some muscle rebuilding that I wasn't feeling in the days immediately following the race? I haven't done anything else that would have hurt my legs, but boy are they sore now. Any ideas?

bike 6 miles - 25 minutes plus arms and "copy-machine wall-sits"

42 minutes

355/800

Not quite half way, but getting there.

Yesterday:

30 min C25K
45 min karate
30 min weapons class
45 min goshin jutsu

150+
920= 1070/2400

Halfway through the month already?!? Gotta step it up.

@2TxAgs, don't worry, it's not a symptom of getting old! Subsets/specialties of the 'big sport' martial arts are often obscurely named. Even Krav Maga, which is its own distinct art and has been growing quite rapidly in popularity, is not a household name yet. So you're really not out of touch, I promise!

570/850

30 minute walk on the treadmill. Which almost didn't happen because I don't feel well. :/

+31 or 328/700. Soooo close to being orange. It seems like a small # compared to some on here but it's a big deal to me. I am down 4 pounds!

My guess is muscle fatigue (over use). Did you have any calf cramps at all during the half? I have had calf cramps from dehydration and they took a long time to feel better. If it is just over use from the race I would take it easy for a couple of days--nothing that causes it to flare up--and then try again. I would also look at the towel stretch a couple times a day to see if that helps. Something else in your leg could be shortening and pulling on your calf (does that make sense?) Lay on your back. One leg straight up. Wrap a long towel around your foot and gently pull toward your head. My pt always said count to 30 because we count to fast and anything less than 15 seconds is useless. Repeat three or four times per leg a couple times a day. And as with anything, if it makes it hurt more--stop. :) If after another week it is still bothering you I would probably call the doctor.

Feel better!

Arms and a good walk

44 minutes

399/800

soooo close to half way!

45 min elliptical last night 30 min run this morning then the dog wanted equal time of 30 min walk :) 953/1600 Good luck to all running this weekend. 2TxAgs. My legs were feeling better so I did an easy run this morning. I found aches and pains during the run I didn't know I had. I'm no expert but I figured I have some more healing to do. I'm just going to decrease the frequency and ease up on the pace till things are normal again. I can't stop because I have a half on feb 2nd. Hope you get better soon. :)

363/700. Took a run break and rode the bike. My Thursday workout sucked and felt terrible so I am trying a "reset" if you will! But I am at 50%. Woohoo!
