This is probably a thread that's been posted a million times, but sorry, I'm new to the boards and can't find anything. I was hoping someone with a little more "Disney" experience could tell me if they remember any packages coming out for January in the past and if so, when they usually get advertised. We are set on staying at one of the Disneyland resorts for sure, most likely The Disneyland Hotel. I'm just waiting to pull the trigger on our reservations, but we want to get the best deal possible of course. Any insight is appreciated!

Since the opening of Carsland, the resort hotels have been booked 90+% most of the time so there were no fall discounts this year, and likely not to be any winter discounts.
If you have a parent that qualifies as a senior going with you, they can get the senior discount of 30% off of the hotel rate. That is usually the best discount out there.

I think Mousesavers.com has a list of the promotions for the past 3 years, what they were and when they were released. BUT I agree with what Girimama33 said about Carsland. Good Luck!

Also - you can always revise your reservation if a deal comes out that works for you.

PS - I noticed with the resort hotels that I can save about $100 if I do not book a "package" but just book a room and buy the tickets. I would look into that option if you do not have a Senior travel partner.

Does anyone know if the senior discount is applied before or after taxes? Also, what is their cancellation policy? I noticed online I had to pay for the first night to book and hold my dates. This is refundable if I cancel by a certain time, right?

Discounts should be before taxes. If you're booking direct through Disney, the cancellation policy is usually that you have until 5 days before arrival day to cancel without penalty. Inside of those 5 days, they keep your first night's charge. There should be some link to follow on the online booking page with policies. You do have to pay for the first night when booking room-only.

Also, in 2012, DLR tickets were on a promotional rate from January 4th or so until May 28th. It wasn't announced until December 2011.

We'll see if that returns. I am waiting to buy my tickets until mid-January if nothing shows up before then. And I'll either be buying my tickets with Target or Grocery Store Disney Gift Cards bought at a discount, or with a Premier Disney Visa with 5% back in Disney Reward Dollars.

Thanks for the input everybody! I'll look into the price of booking them seperately, but I really wanted to get the package through Costco if I couldn't get a deal through the Disneyland Hotel itself as the Costco package has the free Character Dining and whatnot. I may hold tight for a little to see if something comes up in the next week or so, but I figured if I didn't see anything by November 1st I should book the dates. We're going on Jan 2nd through the 5th for my youngest daughter's 1st visit!

Last January there were some great deals with rooms as low as $240 at the DLH. I even remember looking on expedia in January and finding rooms for $200!!!!!! I agree with everyone else though that i doubt they will have any great deals this January. If you use the seniors discount, a room that is $325 before taxes ( which is a standard off season rate) will work out to $267 with taxes.

Now that you mention your exact dates, I wouldn't expect any deals. January 2-5 is the end of the holiday season for Disney, many schools will still be out, and it will be a very popular time to visit. I doubt it will be crazy like the week before, but I wouldn't be surprised to see spring-break-like crowds.

I called today to make a change to our reservation today and the CM said that they were told by their bosses there would not be any winter discounts. I asked why since I had received one from WDW. She told me that WDW has 30 hotels to fill and DL only has 3. They have had no problems filling them so no need for discounts. :confused3
