My DD will be turning 10 the week after our trip to DLR (smart planning on my part, last week of "kid" pricing) and I wanted to do something special for her birthday while we are there. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

WE just did my DD's 10th yesterday. We went ot Goofy's Kitchen and I had pre-ordered a 6 inch cake. Her kids party is Sat, so this was just DH, myseld and her. THe cake was beautiful. I have no pics yet, butwill try to post when I get them loaded. Belle and Chip brought her cake out and sang to her.

You can also do the happiest birthdays at palza inn around 2 om ish where charcters come out. Mickey & Minnie I think and get a birthday bucket. You can get a birthday bucket just about any dining location.

How far in advance can you make the order for the cake? Do you remember the cost?

We did the same thing as Tiffer. DD was 4, the characters delivered her cake, sang the song & signed her tablecloth (we idn't have a book). Although shy, she still enjoyed it. ;)
I heard there is cake decorating at Plaza for $10/person but it didn't taste very good was the consensus.

We probably will never do it again (kids B-days in Summer) but it was worth it to just have the memories.

Edited to add...I can't remember the cost (4 yrs ago) but I called about 2 mos ahead...mainly b/c I'm an anal planner.

birthdays at all the character resuraunts are great! Be sure to get the birthday pin if staying on-site or sticker at the park so there will be birthday geeting for Cm's . Mine have had their b-days anounced over the speaker at the rockets ! If staying on site you can also let the front desk know and recieve some b-day magic in the room , sometimes balloons , and autographed photos of the Disney characters. Also if staying on site yu can pre order a gift basket. All charater meals will bring out a b-day cupcake if you let them know you are celebrating , altough they are not the best tasting.

We aren't staying on site, not enough $$ with the wedding just this July and Christmas, but, had to squeeze this in. 10 is a big one in my book. Where do we get the sticker? Thanks.

Go to the city hall on Main St and ask for it ...........then by magic the birthday person recieves a phone call from Goofy ........maybe that changes........to wish them a happy birthday !

Great. Will it really matter that we are a week before her actual day?

No they ask for no proof .........my little one last May wore his button all week and got one at each charater meal too ! We never seem to be there the exact day either , but still celebrate!

Thanks for all the help. Now, I just have to decide which character dining to do...Hmmm...Have you ever tried the Ariel (I think) one in CA?

Sorry not me , I have sons...........but guess what they said when we go I get to have a princess lunch.........so if you go please post about what you think.
Last trip we did Goofy's kitchen for dinner........it was lots of fun ok food
and Lilo and Stich breakfast ...the most interaction we ever had and great food.

Are those at the hotels or in the park? We did a breakfast at Paradise Pier last time we went, but, that was 9/22/01...

Goofy's kitchen is at DLH
Lilo and Stich at Paradise pier, I think when you went it was a different name.

It was Minnie, Mickey, Donald, Daisy and Max and Goofy I think. Too long ago.

Last trip we did lunch at Ariels. My DD loved it because each princess came around separately and we were able to take pictures, and she talked to each and gave them hugs (and got autographs). We were not there for a bday - so I don't know if they do anything specific - but my daughter loved it. Ariels is located inside DCA park.

I was there in 2004 with my ex and no DD and we saw that. It is towards the California Screamin' area by the water if I am not mistaken.

OK, after seeing quite a few posts today, is it wrong for us to do the Birthday Pin and cake for lunch when it is a week before her birthday? We get a 3 day weekend which is why we are going the week before....Any thoughts? Is it ok to do "Birthday" stuff for her since this is her birthday trip????

of course! me, hubby, and a friend are going for new year's. that's when we'll be celebrating: 1) hubby's 25th b-day, 2) our anniversary, 3) friend's first trip to DL and DCA, and 4) new year's! :cheer2:

that, and from what i've heard, lilo and stitch's breakfast is really good too. apparently has more character interaction than the others...

have fun no matter what!
