Hi everyone --

DH and I, along with another couple are planning a trip to WDW in January... We've tentatively picked Jan 8th to Jan 15th as our dates. That's a saturday to a saturday. Would we be better off (ie - cheaper airfare) if we switched our dates?

I've checked expedia as well as most of the airlines private sites and the cheapest I can find is Delta for $167.90 per person... Would we be better off waiting to purchase our airfare or should we just get it now? I don't know when the airlines tend to increase their rates...

Oh, by the way - it's from Rochester, NY to Orlando.

Thanks for your help!

Dont make the mistake of holding off buying tickets get em while you can.The prices usually end up higher the closer to your flight date.Ive learned the hard way.Is the fare you quoted round trip?If so,take it seems reasonable. :D

I checked www.itasoftware.com, and they had the same $167 as the lowest rates for those days, I also checked Wednesdays (which I have sometimes found to be cheaper, but no difference).

Also last year right before Christmas there was a air fare war for $99, but with fuel prices this year, and Easter being earlier, I am not 100% sure that you will find a lower price.

Hope this helps, good luck. :D

Check out Airtran. I booked a flight the week after you for the same price,
but it is non-stop!!! Didn't think you could do that out of Rochester anymore.

Just as an aside, when I booked our last trip through Song, I did so through their website. The price ended up going down before our trip, so I emailed them. They issued vouchers for the difference good towards future travel. The price dropped again, and they did the same. The price ended up dropping from $150-ish to $120-ish. This was for a trip we took in September. We are going again in January, and applied the vouchers with no problem while ordering (again through their website). Bringing our airfare from $104/rt to $79! I don't know if all airlines do this, but it may be worth checking into before ordering through an expedia or other service that may not be able to do the same if the price drops.

Thanks for all of your help!

We will probably go with the Delta flights and if the fare is reduced prior to our departure, we'll see if we can get vouchers for the difference. (Like we need ANOTHER excuse to go to Disney World! LOL)

If you can fly out of Buffalo, Southwest has non-stops to Orlando now for 59.00 each way...Mark

If you book via Expedia your chances for vouchers go WAY down. If the tickets are the same price book via Delta.com

I booked through Delta (SONG) website for Jan. 19 and the price I paid was $175. I checked it two days later and it had dropped to $127. I called SONG and they did issue me credit vouchers BUT only after they charged me the $25 change fee. So I ended up with $23 credit voucher instead of the $48 that I should have had. I didn't "change" anything - not the flight or the seat - they are the ones that changed the price. So maybe charging the $25 change fee is something new. Good Luck with it. :earseek:

Yes, that fee is definately something new, and/or the person made a mistake. I did mine all through the web, and was not charged any fee.

As an aside, Song called me with an automated message about a week ago, with regard to my upcoming January trip stating that my return flight times had been changed. The change in the time would have made it impossible to catch the last shuttle out of the airport. So, my husband called and got us put on another flight that ended up to be landing just ten minutes before our orriginal flight. We were not charged any change fees, (5 tickets were changed). So, I have found Song to be most accomodating.

You may want to e-mail their customer service department and comment that you do not think that you should have been charged the change fee since nothing had been changed. A price adjustment was made. See if that helps. As I said before, my rate had dropped twice for our September trip, and both times I got a full credit to the current price. Maybe the person was just inexperienced, or maybe new rules went into effect 1/1????? Worth a try to get the $25 back on each ticket!
