Yes, taking the stairs. One thing I will not do on vacation is actually visit the gym. I'll will walk and walk but on vacation I really forget my daily excercise routine. In the meantime, I will continue to do my daily workout M-F. But forget it on vacation. :jumping2: My "excercise" will relaxing in a lounge chair, getting some sun, and reading a book. Oh... I forgot reaching for the tropical drink will be my upper arm workout. :rotfl:

Normally on the cruise I always visit the gym, and do a lot of walking/jogging. Right now (at home) I'm at the gym 6 days a week and jogging 6 days a week. The cruise sails the day after I do the Disney half-marathon, so I'm thinking for those 4 days I'll skip the exercise completely (except Vicki's version <g>). I'll be "retired" from the jogging, too - might still jog once/twice a week, but no more of this 6 days a week nonsense!

Well, ummm, I visit the gym on the cruise ship too ::yes::

I also look at the kids clubs and the baby nursery and a lot of other places that I don't really intend on using while I'm on the ship.

:rotfl2:

I know what some of you mean about using the gym...LOL! :rotfl2:

I just called and had our room changed from a cat. 5 to a cat. 7, and the DCL rep told me that it would save us $200! WOW! I was happy!! :Pinkbounc :cheer2:

I am really thinking that some of us may get upgrades since there seems to be so many open rooms! It seems as though we may have the run of the ship afterall! :Pinkbounc :cheer2:

Welcome, JoyCrazy! I am sure that you are going to have such fun cruising with your family. I would love to take my neices and nephews on a cruise, but right now they are too young...I would be a nervous wreck the whole time!! :earseek:

I wonder how far out they start assigning cabin numbers :confused3

That's a good question...I was wondering the same thing. I can't remember at what point we found out our number. :confused3 Hopefully it won't be too much longer!

From what I've read and averaged out from posts on the main board, I'm guess-timating that those of us who are in GTY status get our rooms assigned about 3-4 weeks before.

But I'm not a statistician, I just play one on TV. ;)

I have to say, I hope I'm wrong and it's something like 2.5 months out. :earboy2:

They can take their time if it's going to help us all get upgrades :teeth:

Hello fellow cruisers!
Yet another Canadian (Ontario) reporting for the January 8 cruise. My wife and I and our son (9) and daughter (7) can't wait to visit Port Orleans Riverside Jan 3 to 8 and then cruise the turquoise waters with you folks!

I am looking forward to running the half-marathon on the 7th and then relaxing aboard Disney Magic (category 10, deck 1). pirate:

We will be visiting Cape Canaveral and Discovery Cove after the cruise, before flying back to face the remainder of the wonderful Canadian winter. :wave2:

Welcome aboard to you and your family, CanuckwithLuck

:wave2: Hi and Welcome aboard Canuckwithluck and family. It's great that our group keeps growning in numbers. Looking forward to meeting you.
My husband and I are also going to visit Cape Canaveral after the cruise before heading back home. It's our way of keeping the vacation going. :cool1:

Welcome aboard Canuckwithluck, to you and your family. Wow...our group is getting bigger by the day...that's great...The more the merrier!
I hope that I'm able to meet some of you onboard!

So do any of you have plans made for our day at sea yet? I'm excited about it, and hope that we get to do the Palo brunch that day!

Only 96 more days and counting...

Welcome Canuck! You know, I tried very hard to get some married friends of ours who moved here from New Brunswick to sail with us . I guess a Bahama cruise isn't as appealing to them anymore since if they want to get warm in January now they just have to turn off the A/C ;) Though their family sure likes to come visit them for Christmas! :cold:

Just FYI though...if you are sailing on 1/8, you're sailing on the Wonder, not the Magic. Just wanted to let you know. :flower:

 This might sound a little strange but I just booked a Royal Carribean cruise for Nov 7 - 11 :teeth: We are taking the Monarch out of LA, for a 4 night cruise to San Diego, Catalina Islands and Ensenada, Mexico.

We will be travelling to LA the day before and staying somewhere near to the pier.

Anybody ever sailed out of LA? Anybody have any advice about getting from the airport to the hotel and from the ship back to the airport again :confused3

Cruisin--What port are you leaving out of ??? Long Beach or San Pedro ?? Then I can try help a bit more. Not much to do or see in Ensenada . Just my opinion) San Diego is always beautiful to visit.

Are you going to be able to visit Disneyland while you're in California? The 50th celebration that is going on is just wonderful.

I THINK that we leave out of San Pedro but now you have me second guessing myself. Maybe I better check that out. :scratchin I'm 99 % sure that we are leaving out of San Pedro but will check with the travel agent for sure tomorrow.

I was thinking about staying at the Marina Hotel in San Pedro ~~ any comments ~~ good or bad?

I'd appreciate any advice or help that you could give me. ::yes::

Unfortunately I couldn't talk my husband into doing Disney :sad2:

We might be going to California for the annual car show in Pebble Beach next summer and he wants to combine that with doing Disney. I'd have rather done Disney this time and not the cruise but since we are doing Disneyworld in January, I think he's Disneyed out.

 He's not quite the same fan that I am :earboy2:

Cruisin, If you go out of San Pedro there are a couple of hotels in the area. Nothing fancy at all!!!!! Sorry, I am not familiar with the Marina Hotel. What you could do is check out the hotel and guest reviews on Trip Advisor. That site is so very helpful. It can also give you info. on other hotels in the area.

We actually stayed at the Sheriton. I check my AAA book and the official name is Sheraton-Los Angeles Harbor Hotel. We stayed there two years ago and it was somewhat run down and was not up to the usual standards that a Sheraton should have. But it's close to the port and they have a shuttle that will drop and pick you up. A lot of cruise travelers stay there. Most of the hotels in the area will either have a shuttle or arrange one for you to get to the port. Just ask and ck out TripAdvisor for helpful info.

I understand completely that your husband is Disneyed out. Mine is just about there. :earseek: Before our cruise we have not one but two trips planned to visit beloved Disneyland. One will also tie into a business trip but we will still be there three weeks apart. I'm so excited, and I am also blessed since my husband puts up with this. He also enjoys Disneyland but not to the extent that I do. I could go there anytime and it would still be magical.

But congrats on the additional cruise !!! Hope this helps.

Hi guys!
I can't belive that we're on the 95 days to go mark!
I am going to be leaving out for NC today, and probably won't be back until Friday. hope y'all have a great rest of the week! I'll be sure and catch up when I get back!

Look at all you lucky people, getting to go somewhere fun! Have great trips!

I know what you mean about DH not being as big a Disney fan :) When we went to MK, he said "it's nice, but it's not that different from Six Flags." I gave him SUCH a LOOK! :earseek: I whispered frantically, "are you mad, do you know how fanatical people get about this place? Are you trying to get us beat down at Disney World?"

So I guess since this first time cruiser is within a few weeks of booking her DCL fun stuff, then you returning cruise members are REALLY close! You'll have to tell us how that goes! I'm actually skipping school on my booking day since I have to stay up until 2 am (ok, I don't HAVE to, but I haven't gone this far being anal retentive to relax now! :rotfl: )

I think we've decided to not do a DCL excursion on Nassau. It just sounded like the snorkeling excursions were too packed with minimal exprerience. I taught enough swim lessons in my life to remember what it was like to be kicked by a flailing swimmer, so no thank you ;) Besides...me and crowds, we don't mix. In Nassau, I think we're going to leisurely wake up, eat breakfast and then taxi over to the Atlantis casino. I'm only allowing us $100 total for gambling, so that shouldn't take too long (not with our sad, sad luck). Then we thought we'd change in the bathrooms, and head over to Cabbage Beach behind the Atlantis. Hope it works out, goodness knows that usually on our trips, one thing stands true, "the best laid plans of mice and men...yadda yadda.." :teeth:

Anyone else changing their plans up?

Yes, we have to wait a couple more weeks to book the fun stuff. I'm going to try and book brunch at Palo's. If we don't get it I'm not going to stress. I don't think the Nassau City tour will sell out, so I'm sure we will get our tour.

Pre-cruise question:
Any suggestions on where to eat at Downtown Disney?? We will still be on California time so maybe somewhere quiet. It's so hard to adjust to the time change.
