January 8, 2005 Magic Cruise - Let's Get Ready to Cruise!

I was checking into the Safe Sea lotion that I read about. It's only available through one distributor or via a website. It's $9.95/bottle for 4 oz with SPF 30. They are offering a special of 2 day shipping for free if 3 or more bottles are ordered...otherwise it's an additional $9.95 for 2-3 day shipping. I'm planning on ordering this. Is anyone interested in purchasing a bottle from me on the cruise?

If you're interested, the website is: www.nidaria.com.

Staci: what time of year did NYDISNEYMOM go on her cruise. We've been once in March and three times in January. There has never been any problem with sea lice on our cruises.

We are doing the 'single digit' dance! :cheer2:

Just wanted to let everyone know that I checked the Virgin Island website this morning and it is saying that at St. Thomas the Magic will be in "anchorage" -does that mean we are "tendering in"? does anyone know if that might change?

Also, FYI- A few days ago I posted on the discussion forum the list of movies that will be playing while we are on-

Just a few more days to go!

On what discussion forum? I'm interested in finding out the movie titles.

Thanks,
Stacey "S" :flower1:

Brack, NYDISNEYMOM gave me that info this past summer. You are correct about the sea lice. I actually meant to delete that part out and completely forgot. I'll go edit right now.

Stacey S, Cathy posted that info on the cruise line discussion board. I'll see if I can find it and bring it back to the top of discussion.

Penny, we have not decided about the CW/Coki thing. If we do decide to go we will bring beach stuff to go to CW. You can go to the CW website and get discount coupons. I'm going to print some off just in case we decide to go. If you go to CW first they allow you to use the showers and facilities for free.

Ok, I called DCL to find out the ones that Chris missed. He told me the movies and said it is a generic list that the cruise line will choose from to show movies. They may not all be showing during our cruise.

-Around the world in 80 Days
-Brother Bear
-Confessions of a teenage drama queen
-Finding nemo
-Ladder 49
-Home on the Range
-Incredibles
-The Village
-Miracle
-Mr. 3000
-National Treasure
-Pirates of the Carribean
-Princess Diaries 2
-Raising Helen

I thought that new movie Racing Stripes was Disney. If it is, it hits theaters on Jan. 14th. So maybe we'll have a prem"ear".

Tarquin, I sure hope we won't be tendering in St. Thomas. It's not like we are there that long anyway.

Staci,

Thanks for the movie info.

RE: the safe sea (sea lice), would you recommend bringing it still or not to bother?

Stacey

Thanks for the movie info. Looking forward to seeing several of them.

Happy New Year!

We have never needed it in four cruises but just as soon as you do not bring it .... I do not want to steer you wrong so do what you feel is best for your family.

Stacey, I personally am not going to worry about bringing the seasafe. But don't let that change your mind.

Here are some random questions and information.
When is everyone leaving? We are leaving TX on Thur. 6th and will be at WDW on Fri. 7th. Plan on being at PC when they open Sat. morning, 10:30 I think. Renting from Budget so DH will drop us off and go return the mini-van. We are a party of 6. One family of 4 and one family of 2. DH- J. is 6'1", broad build, short black/graying/thinning hair (but don't tell him I said that) I am 5'4" blondish (depending on the color Lisa puts in my hair, yes I am traveling with my hair stylist :cool1: ) DS 8-Jack has a hearing aid in his right ear, and DS5-Nick is a madman, you won't be able to miss him. The reason I am telling everyone this is if you see us in the building or on the ship, please say hello. We are friendly people.

Does anyone have an 8 year old son? My DS8 is concerned that his brother has someone his age to play with and he does not. If you do, would you mind meeting sometime on Sat? Maybe this will help him out.

Write this one down in your paper work- our stateroom (as of now) is 7544. In case this changes, call the operator and ask for Jack (J.) and Staci Taylor.
If anyone wants to get together for sailaway, we'd love to as well.

Ok, let's talk about the official meet on Sunday. Brack you said deck 9 over the mickey pool. Do you mean deck 10? I don't care what time. We are going to try to do brunch on Sun. Brunch is from 10:30-2:30. Or, we can attempt to do brunch together. But I have no idea how to get that set up.

We will be at the sailaway party on Sat. Not too sure where but would love to dance and have fun with anyone else interested.

Lisa, do you think you can copy and paste the list from page 16 to the bottom? If not, that is okay.
Well, that is a bunch of info. If I have overwhelmed anyone, sorry!
I'm hoping to get to meet as many DISers as possible, put faces w/ the names.
Staci T.

I was just re-reading the name of this cruise meet thread - "Let's Get Ready to Cruise!" Okay, by all indicators, it looks like we're READY!!! Well, except for packing. :earboy2:

I've got some SeaSafe, which i bought for a previous cruise in April. From what I can find, the threat of sea lice off the Florida coasts runs from March to August. So, theoretically, we should not be in danger. I'm bringing some with us but it's pretty gooey and sticky so we'll need to be highly motivated to use it.

We're riding the Disney bus to PC. We're heading down to Orlando on the 7th and hoping to be on one of the first buses from the airport to the port on the 8th. That's what we did last time and it worked out very well for us. DD was first in line to have her pic taken with Captain Mickey at the ship model and that is my very favorite pic from that cruise.

We look forward to meeting some of you. I don't think anyone else has a 4-year-old daughter but our little girl loves to play with boys, too. Should I worry yet?

When we cruised in April, we missed the DIS meet which took place around the time of departure. It's a really exciting and busy time. I'm all for meeting on Sunday. But I'll keep reading to see what is finally decided and we'll try our hardest to get there!

Safe travels to anyone who is leaving soon! Have a wonderful trip.

We will be leaving home on the 6th and driving down....14.5 hour drive. We've done it so many times though, I think our van could drive itself. After a quick trip to Belz Mall, we'll make our traditional trip to Downtown Disney for our first meal at Wolfgang Puck's Express Cafe and will then stay the night at Pop Century. We'll be at the Port early on Saturday. After the cruise we will return to WDW for 3 nights at Pop Century and 5 nights at the Poly. We have been very busy doing homework for 3 kids over Christmas vacation so they won't miss anything while we're gone.

I'm still a little unsure about our days in port. I appreciate any and all insight from everyone.

Thanks,

Penny

We are leaving from Philly on the 2nd. Staying in the Radisson for two nights, and then going on the 4-day before we go on the 7-day! We are SO excited!

See everyone there!

Oh wow, you are my hero. You have FINISHED packing! I hate being a procrastinator, I really do and maybe you have inspired me to pack. Tomorrow. LOL.

We are leaving on Monday (yikes! so soon!) and driving down. We are taking a couple of days to do that and then spending a couple of days at Universal.

Lisa, thanks so much for moving the list. I cannot believe you are packed, you go.
Fawn, how awesome that you are going on the 4 day before hand. Are you doing the special 4 day on the Magic or the usual on the Wonder? If you are going on the Magic, you'll be there with Verandah Man, Andy. What a great guy.

Well, I just got back from Walmart, buying some of the necessities for the cruise. I cannot for the life of me find a water wallet. I looked every where. Oh well, I can just buy the one on the ship I guess.

Maybe I'll get a suitcase out and through some stuff in. DH and I always pack the night before. But, we are so used to packing that it goes pretty smoothly.

About the meet, I guess we need to decide on something before Fawn leaves on Sunday. Tell you what, 3:30 on Sat. my family will be on the outside deck at deck 7 aft. For anyone interested in meeting then. Then on Sun. we'll be at the "official" meet as well. If we meet about 10:00 or so on Sun. everyone will have time to do the brunch and Matinee of Golden Mickey's. Or, we can meet around 3:30 after the matinee yet before everyone gets ready for first dinner seating. Please, everyone tell me what you think.
Staci

Staci, et al.,

I'd prefer the 10 AM timeframe (or even 9 AM) on Sunday. This allows us to meet early in the day (over coffee?), then everyone can enjoy the events/festivities on board. I, personally, know that my kids will want to either swim or be in the kid's club and I'd hate to have to pull them away from an activity in mid-afternoon (for a 3:00/3:30 meet time). Looking forward to meeting everyone.

Stacey S.

maybe you can pick up a water wallet near the port, would you have time to run to Ron Jon's or somewhere like that?

We are flying in late Wednesday night, are doing the cheepie route and staying at Days Inn Lake Buena Vista till Saturday morning-going to try and do the things around WDW that we never have time to do when we are down to go to the parks-

Since some people are already packed , I guess I should start actually putting things into suitcases, huh?
What is everyone doing about the weather?

We are planning on jeans/short sleeved shirts during daytime in Florida, then shorts when we hit the islands, does that sound right?

When it is 20 outside, even 70 sounds really really warm, but I know once we are there we will get spoiled quickly!
