Day Five
Since we were in anchorage in St. Thomas and we didnt have any excursions planned and wed been there before, we decided to just stay on the ship this day. Besides, Steves (DH) foot was hurting him a little and Isabel really wanted to go swimming in the Mickey Pool. We headed up to Topsiders for breakfast and Roland from the Philippines paid a lot of attention to Isabel (DD4) and made her giggle. It was nice to have a leisurely breakfast outside in the warmth. We headed to the Mickey Pool not too far to go and it was not crowded at all there wasnt even any line at the water slide. It was a great time to be there. Roland was cleaning up in that area too so I had a chance to chat with him about his family and his work on the ship while Steve headed to the Quiet Cove pool and hot tubs. I kept my sunburned legs up and set towels with cold water on them again, they looked horrible but didnt feel as bad as they looked, thankfully.
After over 3 hours of swimming and sliding (because there was no line, she must have gone done the Mickey Slide about 15 times), we got Isabel something to eat for lunch. We took her back to change and then she headed to the Oceaneer Club, Steve headed to the spa for his Deep Tissue massage and after dropping Isabel off, I headed to the spa for my reflexology appointment. My appointment was scheduled for 2pm and I had 20 or 25 minutes so I stopped by the Cove Café for some tea. I had African Nectar (the same flavor I had at Palo Tea) its very nice fruity, dark but not too strong and its caffeine free. The tea was accompanied by a biscotti and a little cookie with jam as if I needed more food but trust me, I ate them. The Cove Café was very comfy with headphones, magazines, nice sofas and chairs.
My reflexology session was heavenly. It was totally relaxing and I had a great conversation with the therapist Im ashamed that I cant remember her name. She was from Scotland and was just delightful. A lot of people Ive talked to about reflexology say that theyd never be able to let someone rub their feet. Now, I realize that one does feel a little vulnerable and trust me, my toe nails werent even done. But it truly is one of the best treatments that any spa offers, in my humble opinion. Theres all sorts of research about different areas on your feet corresponding to the different areas of your body and you can help lots of aches and pains through foot massage. I encourage you to try it sometime.
I had a cruise-long pass for the Rainforest but because of my sunburn, I couldnt use it after St. Maarten I was kinda bummed but I certainly enjoyed it while I could and went quite a few times. I told Steve he should try it after his massage, which he did and he thoroughly enjoyed it (plus, it wasnt crowded because we were in port and it wasnt very crowded). I only ran into crowds there one time and that was on Monday afternoon (sea day). Even then, it was still nice, although one enthusiastic couple wanted to try each area and they were shouting to each other from each shower and sauna to give their reports. That didnt really bother me, it made me smile, actually. But I can see if you wanted peace and quiet in there, it might have been annoying.
I tried to pick up Isabel but she wanted to stay and finish whatever activity they were doing so I headed back to the room and vegged out for a while. We had a lovely view of the island and I watched the boats and activity and water. I ordered some fruit from room service and the server even commented on what a pretty view. She said shed like more time on St. Thomas so they could explore but since the ship isnt there many hours, their time is limited when they do get off the ship there.
The theme for dinner that evening was Small World I was afraid theyd sing the song during the whole meal and once I was trapped on the ride and I still have nightmares but thats another story. I had paella and Steve had fettuccine alfredo. Isabel was so tired she could hardly get through dinner. I decided to take her back to the room because she was in no shape to go to the Oceaneer Club Alyssas mom decided to do the same but both girls, of course, came back to life as soon as they left the dining room and wanted to head to Pumbaas PJ Party. Isabel wore her Aurora nightgown and they made pillowcases at the party.
Steve and I went to Who Wants to Be a Mouseketeer. We had read on these boards that the contestants for the game, which is almost just like the TV show, are selected at random by row and seat number. If you sit in an empty room, and any seat is called in that row, whoever is sitting to the right of that seat is called. If no one is to the right, they select the person to the left. So, Steve sat in Row S and I sat in Row T. There werent too many people around us. The first contestant was in Row V (she was the only one sitting in the row) we talked to her later in the elevator and she didnt really want to go play she thought shed be safe sitting in the back. Muahahahaha Anyway, the next contestant was also in Row V and he had come in late and filled in the first contestants chair. So, you never know where the contestants will come from. There was another contestant, a young girl whose mom helped her and then it was time for the fourth contestant to be drawn. We watched as the computer chose Row S, Seat 2. Well, no one was there but Steve was the closest and soon he was headed down the steps to the show! Woohooo!
I was so proud he did really well. He reasoned out one question about who was originally going to be the Sorcerers Apprentice in the first Fantasia and I was really impressed. Now, I know the mans smart but he truly surprised me and after almost 25 years of marriage, thats pretty impressive!!! Anyway, he ended up winning some onboard credit (I was surprised he stopped because he usually takes chances on these things) and it was a good thing but the next answer he would have given was wrong. Coolest of all, he got the Who Wants to Be a Mouseketeer pin!
We went back to get Isabel and she refused to leave the club. Man, she was getting bossy but who are we to argue when we could spend a little time together? We walked around the ship and just talked and laughed. We finally dragged her out of the OC she was still determined to stay awake until her head hit the pillow and she was out like a light!
