January 7, 2012-- 7 night Western on the Magic!

Meet ups: As I've said elsewhere, I'd like to meet up sometime after boarding but before the muster drill (afterwards is the Sailaway Party and we don't want to miss that). This way we could also pass out a list of everyone and their room numbers, especially for those participating in the FE so we could make any room change updates.

I also like the idea of setting up some additional meets occasionally. However, since there will some who have early seating and some who have late seating, meeting up in the evenings could be difficult for one or the other.

Weather - I just go with what happens and enjoy myself as much as possible. We just returned from a cruise to Alaska (not DCL though the Magic was tied up next to us at one port). Weather went from absolutely beautiful, to slightly cool (LS shirt and a polarfleece vest worked well), to cool and damp (well, very wet to be more accurate). When I was in both Ireland and Scotland two years ago, we had everything as well. I just try to be as prepared and adaptable as possible.

When we went on this exact same cruise earlier this year, our weather was so-so, though on the weeks on either side of us it was absolutely great. I'm hoping we'll be more fortunate this year and getting the usual, average, daily dose of sunshine.

DISmeets info is updated per my earlier posting but.......

ok: I think (someone please reconfirm this) the Adventures Away party is at 4:30pm to 5:30pm?? Can someone please reconfirm thiis?????? so if true, have the DISmeets from about 2:30 to 3:30pm ish?? then break it up in time for the boat drill at 4pm??

is the DISmeets time ok everyone??? please let me know as I dont know what the exact time the boat drill is. And yes, if the vote is to have it for 30 minutes, thats ok with me.

But about the boat drill:
4pm deck 4 is what I am thinking about the boat drill info - again can someone reconfirm this??

I am guily of running off of an old ships navigator via an old DCL blog:

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2589370&referrerid=0

can someone post a more recent one onto our thread?? and yes, to those of ya who would like to meet up througout the cruise - theres always the in room phone (to leave messages) or in my case, i will have my "erase a board" up on the outside of my cabin door so feel free to write on it.

Hey All!

Been away for awhile and I see all kinds of "stuff" happening here - that is so cool!

I'm really ticked at Airtran - thay decided not to service one leg of our trip any longer - had to cancel and start over for flights!

Fortunately within a few days I found better flights on American for about the same money - so all is set!

Is anyone staying at the Hyatt at MCO the night before we sail? That is our plan and then take DCL transfers to the ship........

Hey everyone I have also been neglecting you all and been very busy with all that is involved in back to school etc...

We are all paid up and awaiting our window to online check in and book port adventures. Soooo excited.

We will be flying in the day before and staying at the Hyatt. We have our flights and transfers etc all booked through Disney.

We have not bought flights yet. We're waiting for Airtran to post sales for January. We plan to fly down two nights before and have booked two nights at All Star Movies resort. This is the first time we will have stayed on Disney property. We are considering taking our girls to Magic Kingdom the day before, but the cost for one day, yikes!!!! We're still deciding what to do about Magic Kingdom!

Alas, we will not be sailing with you in January.

Due to a number of scheduling conflicts for everyone in the family except me, we've moved our cruise to May. I was looking forward to setting sail in a few months but the rest of the family was having trouble with the dates.

Have a great time! I'll be thinking of you.

Hey everyone...I've been neglecting this board since I first signed up back in April. Had a busy summer trying to get a house on the market and 2 other cruises in the meantime! :thumbsup2

Sounds like there's some college aged kids on this cruise...my girls will be happy! My daughters will be one week shy of 21 and 22 on this cruise. If anyone is interested in facebooking before the cruise, drop me a message...my girls have often done this in the past, and it seems to work well for them.

I see a M&G and a fish extender is being organized. Didn't see an exact time/date/place for M&G...did I miss it? Any other plans...brunch, high tea, cabin crawl, tastings, slot pull (oh wait, no casino, forget that!)?

OK, I'll try to be a bit more diligent about checking in...have a great day!

....then there was the time over in Ireland I (along with 12 other fellow adventurers) helped to close down the pubs 3 times over a 7 night period - fun was had by all with lots of dancing over some wonderful trad, craic and oh yes - a "few" pints of Guiness were downed in the process.;) - and yes....there were some who could dance a pretty good Irish jig. And I mean a serious Jig.
There was something about Bulmers - I even tried a glass of Bulmers (apple cider) ....not bad.:)
yes, we also welcome other plans or ideas. Like for example making a graphic (for our thread) for this cruise or say lanyards / t-shirts ?????

anyone? anyone??

ANYWHO -

M&G: We are attempting to have it on the day of Embarkation - say around 2:15/2:30pm to about 3:30pm - kinda a rolling M&G - this way people can come and go as they please. I plan on being up at the Promenade Lounge around 2;15pm ish and just relaxing as I will be coming off a very busy am at Magic Kingdom and the Contemporary.
WE always welcome input about the m&G so please feel free to chime in with a suggestion or two.

All right - been real. Just finished watching "UP" for the 1st time (a few days ago) and now I am off to watch ......"Bambi" for the 1st time.:goodvibes.

Although my children are only 16 & 11 we are Facebookers and would welcome that idea. It's so much fun to share the excitement of the upcomming cruise! :)

Update: I just found a facebook page for a cruise leaving in february and copied their page for our cruise **Thx to the orginal creater** If anyone is interested you can type "Disney Magic Cruise January 7, 2012" in your facebook search bar and join the page. My kids are excited about this one because they find this forum hard to navigate.

Have a great day!!!!

It's just a suggestion, but if you make it an Event on facebook, you can control who sees the page and who views what we write. I'm uncomfortable with my travel itinerary being out in public?

On one of our cruises, a gal set up a Group...not sure how to do it, but it was really nice. You can search "Disney Magic May 26-June 5, 2010 Mediterranean Cruise" on fb and get an idea.

I like the pic you used!

DONE! I completely agree! I never thought of treating it as a group. I've deleted the page but it takes 14 days before it will no longer apear on facebook.

The group "Disney Magic Cruise, January 7th, 2011" is created! When you join the group you will be able to see the posts and write on the wall. Much more secure that way. Thanks!

We're sooooo excited! 100 DAYS TODAY!

Can't find the group? Did you put 2011 or 2012??

100 days...oh yes!!

yep - that would be the problem. I put 2011. It's changed now :)

Disney Magic Cruise, January 7th, 2012.

Happy Dance!

I just sent a request to join the group on facebook - you may get requests from my kids!

OK so we are a couple of 50 somethings with a couple of 20 something kids on this cruise.

I'm considering a cabana at CC - was wondering if there was anyone who would want to share it (and of course the cost).

Not sure of this idea - there were no cabanas last time we were there.

My daughters will be one week shy of 21 and 22 on this cruise.

My 2 twentysomethings are a boy 24 and a girl 21 - I'm sure they would like to meet up with your girls!

I'd love to share a cabana! Do you have to wait until you're onboard to reserve??

Absolutely...my girls have made the best friends on cruises thru the years! :)
