January 7, 2006 *Magic* 1/7/06

Hi all!

We will be on our first DCL cruise this week. It is me(38) DH (37) DS(9) DS(5) and DD(4). This is our kids 1st cruise and our 2nd we are sooo excited. I just found this thread. It has been such a great help planning this cruise by reading DIS posts. This sounds like a fun group going this week. I know DCL is usually booked solid but is there anyway to find out how popular this week is? Has anyone cruised this week before? How's the weather?

Thanks

Hi
Welcome to the cruise. My DW and I cruised last year at the begining of January and the weather was very pleasent. Hope your kids are ready for a wonderful adventure. ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo

Welcome Flippin4Mickey

I'm glad you and your family will joining this cruise. I think it will be a wonderful time. My DD and I cruised 1st week of Feb in 2005 and it was cold in WDW and windy, mind you I came from No. CA it was beautiful, but as we left the states it became very beautiful in fact at the islands it was almost hot, we got sweaty just walking around. So if you are going early for WDW like my DD and I are pack some warmer things or at least a pair of pants and a thick sweat shirt.

Hope to meet you on the cruise. TTYL

Thanks for the weather report. That helps. I was wondering if we would need warmer clothes in the evening on the ship. We are not going to the world before or after. This is a cruise only trip for us. Any weather in the Caribbean has got to be better that Michigan in January.
Thanks :sunny:

My DH & I have a Palo reservation on night 5 (St Thomas & St John). Any pros or cons with this evening? Our reservation is @ 6pm thought we'd have the kids do dinner in the club that night. Does anyone have any insight on what our dinning rotation may be or what we will be missing in the dinning room that night. We are scheduled for early seating and we have 3 kids 9,5 & 4.
Thanks :boat:

I think we did the same night as you for Palo but our reservation is a little later.

Hi! This is my first post. I will be cruising this week with my best friend and my DD(4). I am hoping for good weather as well.

This is going to be so cool, we are all going to have a great trip.

Hi merlin1 welcome to the boards and the cruise. My DD is 4 also. She is really looking forward to the kids club. ::MinnieMo

I'll add my welcome to Merlin 1 also. My DD will turn 4 in February and is very excited about the club. I hope they still have the story time with Snow White since she is a big favorite. (Not as big as Princess Aurora, who I understand is normally not on the cruise). Have you decided on shore excursions yet?

Hi wiscbill It was difficult choosing excursions w/ a 4 yr old. We did choose St. Maarten island & butterfly tour & Atlantis Sub adventure on St Thomas. Did you reserve anything yet? What have you heard is good for this age? Story time w/any princess is going to be a huge hit. :cloud9:

I couldn't really find anything really interesting for the under 5 children. We are just going to do some shopping and beaches on our own. I would love to do something like the regatta and I understand that you can leave the children at the club; however, I just don't feel comfortable getting off the ship without her. EEEK!

Hello again guys!

Sorry I haven't been posting much-but busy with the holidays!

So has anyone with a GTY status gotten a room assignment yet? We are still waiting here-should be anyday though (I think).

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving Day, and hope you didn't shop too much today!

Well off to work I go!

Take care all
Dan
Hi Dan and Scott,

We were a GTY Cat. 6 and had a room as of Friday before last. I am a little worried because we got room 5124 and the only info. I can find on that room is that there is some sort of wierd grinding noise. Have you been on deck 5 in any of your many Disney Cruises?

For the repo cruise we were in stateroom #5627. The only problem we had was it was be a crew area and it was noisy on the first day and the last night-really late on the last night! We have also stayed port side and never had a problem!

Just checked-still nothing-LOL
This is our 12 (I think) DCL cruise, we have never gotten an upgrade so I am sure we won't get one! LOL Oh well-we really like inside staterooms, but with his mom going it would be nice to have a split bath.

Dan

We are staying at the Raddission the night before but have not yet decided to do after. Our flights do not leave until Sunday evening. We are not really interested in WDW(at least the two adults are not, don't tell my daughter) maybe Sea World, or sticking around the Cocoa Beach area. Does anyone have any ideas, perhaps things that you have done post cruise in the past?

Well guys I just wanted to let you all know that we are still stateroomless! Our friends from PA got their docs earlier this week and we can't even get a stateroom number? LOL

dan

Just thought I would give everyone an update!

We leave in 30 days to spend a few days at WDW before the cruise and guess what

Still no room and still no docs!
