January 4, 2014 Fantasy, Trust, and Pixie Dust!

I agree, I dress up for dinner but not very one does and you'll feel just fine no matter what you wear, there is such a mix of people dressing up and people dressing down... You'll be just fine wearing whatever you like on princess.

Hi Everyone! Back from the western on the Wonder - we had a great time, Miami is a beautiful port to sail from. Grand Cayman and Cozumel were lovely. I am really looking forward to the Fantasy now as it will mean I have been on all 4 ships.

We couldn't resist booking the Southern Caribbean (fall 2014) while on board - so much to look forward to!

I was very interested in the information about Princess - so many lines - just don't know which others to try. Thanks for sharing about that.

It is a bit sad to be back to winter.

Did you see much of Miami? I remember it being pretty run down and dirty. This was about 30 years ago though so it might have changed by now

No, didn't see much of it - just drove straight to the port. From the ship it was very beautiful - much more impressive sailing out than from PC! The port area was run down - not unlike industrial areas in any big city. The terminal was like an airport - not Disneyfied at all and freezing cold inside.

Just booked our air yesterday! Pretty much set with everything now...just waiting for online check-in for BBB and a few excursions.

What excursions are you guys planning on doing?

I think it will mainly depend on the exact lengths of the stops ... It seems that Cozumel and Costa Maya have different shore times depending on the cruise ...

I'm wondering which ones will be the best for young kids actually. DCL excursions will stay in the time frame allowed so that's good. No worries there.

According to the info in my booking, we only have pretty short shore times in Grand Cayman (especially as it's on a tender) and Costa Maya ...

Port Canaveral, Florida--4:00 p.m
At Sea
Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands*11:30 a.m.4:45 p.m
Costa Maya, Mexico1:00 p.m.5:30 p.m
Cozumel, Mexico 8:00 a.m.5:30 p.m

Castaway Cay9:45 a.m.4:00 p.m

I'm thinking the Turtle Farm excursion on Grand Cayman would be fun for my son. For the other two we will do beach excursions. Would live to do the ruins but I've heard it's hard on smaller children.

We did the Turtle Farm on our first WC cruise in 2010. My kids were 5 and 8 at the time. They loved it! And so did we.....just didn't like the turtle soup!

I agree, the only thing deterring me from going to the turtle farm is the fact that it is an actual farm... It will make me sad knowing they are going to kill the turtles :-( so no turtle farm for me!

Ummm...there's no way I'm eating turtle soup! Lol! Especially not after seeing the turtles!

Oh I didn't think of that!!!! I guess that's the point of the farm. We will do something else probably.

Their reasoning behind it makes sense (farm turtles rather than wild turtles being killed) but it is still too sad for me!

What excursions are you guys planning on doing?

We're thinking of doing a Dolphin push and pull swim...my son wants to do that with our granddaughter. I have done the stingrays on Cayman, but I know my granddaughter will love that one. Other than that, we'll do a beach day. Thinking of doing the Deluxe Family Package on Castaway Cay...has anyone done that...seems worth it to me.

Not sure the Turtle Farm would work for us.

So...Due to issues with me getting the days off work so close to the new year, my wife and I are not going to be on this cruise. We had to reschedule to a cruise later in the year. Hope you all have a fantastic time!!!!!!!!!!!

Do we have someone that is setting up the FE group? I would volunteer, however since I have absolutely NO experience in dcl and fe's I am probably not the best person to set it up! If someone wants to volunteer that'd be great...we obviously have nothing but time :-)

There's not a whole lot to it. It's way easier to organize on FB because you can create documents for everyone to see and they can add themselves. Just go and create a doc on FB that has ppl's names, disname, cabin number, number of ppl in the cabin, and ages of each person in the cabin. For kids it helps if ppl indicate if it's a boy or a girl. Some ppl also like to know what ppl's favorite characters are so you can ask ppl to list that too. Before the cruise everyone can print the document and take it with them (I just select, copy, and paste it into a word document if I can't print from there...can't remember if that's a possibility). Sometimes ppl turn the document into a spreadsheet and then you can save it to your computer and print it off that way. After that ppl just decide what they are going to do.

There are general FE's (just deliver whatever you want to ppl), candy FE's, post card FE's (postcard from where you live, write a quick note on it and deliver), and scrapbook FE's (deliver scrapbook stuff to each other...super fun on the Hawaii cruise...Hawaiian themed items, etc.). There are examples of what we did on our Hawaii cruise. I only participated in the candy and postcard groups to cut down on the number of cabins I had to deliver to. There are many other types of groups. I just don't know about them.

I am not participating in the main FE this cruise but if you want me to create a doc to get everyone started on FB I can do that. I would prefer to exchange items between one or 2 cabins with young kids to keep it simple for me but will help you guys in any way I can.
