January 31, 2009--St, Croix/St. Thomas

Booked on the trip as well. I'm excited to have a veranda for the first time. was last on going through the canal so ready for another one. I am also looking forward to seeing what got updated during the rehab.

Can't wait to see people there. So how are we finding each other??

Who knows what night is pirate night on this sailing?

:welcome: Aboard!

As far I pirate night; I believe it is supposed to be on Wednesday, St. Thomas Day (provided this hasn't been changed due to Super Bowl schedule).

Sorry to say we won't be joining you all. We decided to trade in our cruise for 7 days AKL. The 4/3 deal was just too good to pass up. Hope you all have a great time.

Sorry you won't be joining us :guilty: but I am sure you are going to have an awesome time at AKL! :woohoo:

Well, it's been talked about a variety of times.....so I guess we'll volunteer to put a list together for those interested in a Magnet exchange and/or Fish Extenders.

If you're interested, send us an email with your information - names / cabin #, etc. We'll post more later, but right now we are thinking that we'll need to cut-off the list by the middle of December to give people some time prior to the cruise - prior to then we can provide updates on the number participating if it helps out. After the cut-off we will provide participants with the appropriate list(s).

Wendy, Neil, Lilly (DD) and Ben (DS)

We would love to do the FE!

I know the kids just love it!

Hopefully we'll get some people interested in the FE...I would be ok with a late cut off date...the more the people we get involved the more fun and exciting it gets!!

Amanda, Steve, Kara (DD 4/5*) *turning 5 on the cruise!

This will be our first cruise. It will be my hubby, our little girl who is 5 and myself. Were excited. Hopefully it all works out.:cool1:

Cruise ~ I thought the FE exchange would be interesting as well. DH and I don't have kids yet but I would still like to participate. I am pretty crafty so I think it would be fun.

skrause ~ Welcome aboard!

So has everyone decided on excursions?

Ugh, I still have NO excursions booked. Nothing on the DCL list looks appealing (we have kids 4 & 6 so that excludes us from many excursions).

Anyone have any recommendations for excursions outside of DCL?

Happy Thanksgiving!! fellow cruisemates!! Hope you didn't eat too much turkey! yum!!:) Only 65 days left and we'll be on that beautiful ship!

Happy Day After Thanksgiving! We visited St. Thomas 2 years ago and our children where 5 and 2. Since we were unable to book snorkling excursions via DCL, we booked a semi-private charter which included about 4 other couples. There were several boats that provided the service. We made sure to select one that snorkled near beaches. DH and I have our own snorkling equipment. Before the trip, we picked up some cheap snorkling equipment for the kids in Orlando, so they did stick their face in the water a bit. Mostly the kids played in the sand while we took turns snorkling. It was cheaper and I believe the quality was much better (snorkling sites and services on the boat).

This cuise our kids are still too young for the DCL snorkling excursions so we plan to take the ferry from St. Thomas to St. John and explore the beaches on our own. St. John and its beaches are beautiful. There is a thread on Disboards that gives directions about how to get to the ferry and what to do once you arrive on St. John. We plan to snorkle and play on the beach.

We have been exporing semi-private snorkling excusions on St. Croix. There are a handful and seem reasonablly priced. We are still deciding what to do.

DH and I opted for a private snorkeling trip in St. Croix. I wanted to book it through Disney but it was REALLY expensive so we chose to go through a local vendor instead. The marina is in Christiansted and since we dock in Frederiksted we rented a car for the day so we wouldn't have to depend on taxi service. We also decided to do parasailing while at Castaway Cay. Has anyone done this? It looks like a lot of fun.

gmark - Since you have sailed on previous Superbowl cruises this one's for you....how does dinner usually work on game day? We have late seating and I believe kickoff is around 6 or so EST. I never considered I would like to be on deck to watch the game which will still be going on during our dining time.

I am sooo excited for you! This will be our 2nd Disney Cruise... please see the custom magnet that we made for this particular cruise... it is a little farther back in this thread.

Have fun!

I have sailed during the superbowl but it was not on Disney (It was before I was smart enough to know which cruiselines had the best service) They had set up a couple of the bars with snacks and big screen showing. I want to say that they might have tape delayed so that no one missed dinner. I am not sure how disney will handle it. It would be cool to watch it on the jumbotron over the pool.

Exactly! Grab a chair by the pool and kick back to watch the game. I am a huge football fan and am really looking forward to this...so much so that if all goes well we might make it a tradition to do it every year :woohoo:

I am hoping they will delay broadcasting it until at least after first seating. We have late seating so unless they are going to broadcast at 10 o'clock we are out of luck regardless. I would like to be able to grab something (even if it is quick serve) around dinner time but if it doesn't play out that way I guess I will just chalk it up to....these are the sacrifices we make for the love of the game :lmao:

Gosh...now only if the Titans make it! I'll be the crazy one screaming through the game.

LOL :lmao:

DH is a Titans fan while I, on the other hand, am a Steelers fan! Oh what I wouldn't give for them to be in the SB...life couldn't get better!

Does anyone know if formal night will still be on Sunday or will they change it due to the game. I'd hate to see my family walking around in dresses and tuxes with Titans jersey's over them. :lmao:
