January 31, 2009--St, Croix/St. Thomas

Hi all,

Well, we are starting to get really excited. So far, the girls are half-packed. I have not started, and DH never packs until about 12 hours before we leave (that drives me crazy!). Last year, though, he accidentally forgot to pack 2 pairs of pants and had to send everything for dry cleaning mid-week, so I am hoping he has learned his lesson!

We are going to be renting a car in MCO on the Thursday when we land and then heading to Residence Inn in Cocoa Beach - is anyone else staying there before the cruise?

The Promenade Lounge sounds good for a meet. Another option is Deck 9 near Goofy's Galley, especially if the weather is nice and the kids want to stay swimming. We will go wherever the group decides - it's definitely nice to take a few minutes and meet everyone, because then you recognize a few people all week long and can say Hi as you bump into one another.

If anyone out there on this thread has 11/12 year-old or 7/8 year-old daughters, please PM me - my girls are very interested in getting to know some kids before they board - maybe we can even find one another in the cruise terminal as we wait for our boarding number to be called. We found last year that friendships formed on the first day made the whole week (time in the clubs, rendezvous's at the pool, and the afternoon at the beach at Castaway Cay) infinitely more fun!

We have not been upgraded - my TA thought we might be because it's our third sailing, but so far online we appear to still be in our sideways Cat 11 on Deck 5 forward. We did get moved up from Second Dinner seating to Main, but now DH is thinking maybe he would like to try out Second seating - we will mull that one over for a few days...

And now, the waiting which has seemed to drag on forever, is almost over!

:hourglass

Can anyone from the US tell me whether you can easily purchase Bonine in FL? We used to be able to buy Bonamine (Canadian brand name for Bonine) at Walmart and elsewhere here, but apparently it's no longer available in Canada. I rely on it for enjoying my trip, and I am hoping to get it at Walgreens after we land. Please let me know if I need to arrange something different!!!

See you all soon!
Hi ... I'm new to the discussion board and excited to be going on this cruise. I have a 7 year old daughter that I know would love to meet a friend her age on the ship. Does anyone have a nine year old son looking to meet a friend too?

Hi,
My DD is 6 (she'll be 7 in May)and she's always looking for a friend to hit the kids' clubs with (or the pools).

OK, can anyone email (faylamassage@comcast.net) me a picture of what their magnets look like??? I'm stressing out. I have NO idea!

Thanks!!

Here in Iowa we are having ANOTHER bilzzard today. UGH:headache: :headache: :headache:

:teacher: I am in a workshop and schools are closing right and left trying to get kids home before it is a total mess..... Worst of all this is delaying my cruise documents and finding out what my cabin number is!!!

I am just closing my eyes and fantasizing I am on the ship. :cloud9: I am worse than kids when it comes to weather making me useless to get anything done. If there is weather mess I have to deal with on my flight down from the tundra of Iowa, it is not going to be pretty.

No kids here. (I like Disney because kids let us enjoy our solitude in the adult areas :ssst: ) It will be great to meet people on the ship. 3pm should work. Everyone seems way too organized for me. I will be throwing things in my suitcase about 3 hours before the plane leaves and up late the night before deciding what to put on the magnets.... I am teaching a workshop and facilitating a budget cut discussion the morning before I leave. I think they are going to wish they had found someone else.

I am not sure about bonine, I am sure there is a Publix or a Walgreens or a CVS pharmacy down there close by the port. I am guessing any tourist shop would have it as well but you would pay an arm and a leg for it.

Big Thanks to Wendy for getting us organized.:thanks:

Rob:tigger:

I'm slacking too.....I can't start packing yet----I wouldn't have anything to wear until the cruise then! :rotfl2: So..the meet is 3pm in promenade? I'll be the one at the bar. :drinking1

Hi Rob!
We're "playing" in the snow in IOWA too! (west of DM in Council Bluffs) I missed flipping over in a ditch this morning by an 1"! :scared1: There's ice under that new fluffy stuff! After getting towed out I kept thinking sunshine, cruise, water that's NOT frozen! (Except for maybe little chunks in a boat drink!)

I'm making the traveling Mickey magnet. We had a traveling Mickey on our last cruise. (best ideas are "borrowed") We didn't get it on our door until after we got back from CC on Friday and there were still many names left on the list who still needed to get it. So PLEASE let's try to have Mickey see everyone by noon on CC day. It was fun to read the messages. Families signed their names, ages, where they're from. Some wrote a message about their best "magical moment" that day. Those were fun to read and to share the good feeling with another! And PLEASE, who ever goes home with Mickey, take a picture and post it on our thread. It wasn't done the last time we did this and it was a real disappointment. :sad1:

See ya real soon!
Barb :yay:

Hi everyone!

Just got off the phone with DCL and this is the dining at the moment:

1/31 - Welcome aboard - Cruise casual
2/1 - At sea - Captain's Gala - Formal wear
(could be moved to 3rd night if they do Super Bowl broadcast)
2/2 - At sea - Cruise casual
2/3 - St. Croix - Pirate night
2/4 - St. Thomas - Cruise casual
2/5 - At sea - Semi Formal wear
2/6 - Castaway Cay - Farewell dinner - Cruise casual
2/7 - go home :(

They should get the Super Bowl.. but was told we will "be in International waters".

Only 17 days, 10 hours and 6 minutes til January 30th!
We fly out of Milwaukee at 9:20 am and arrive in Orlando at 1:00 pm.
Will check into our resort (POFQ) and attempt to hop to 3 parks and Downtown Disney before we crash for the night!

Already have our toiletry bag packed, our snorkel gear packed, and the dog food packs made up... for our two dogs on their "vacation"!
They go to the most awesome kennel out there! They love it!
Which is sooo much easier on us since they are our "kids" !!

Next step, lay out the clothes we want to wear and iron! Now that we know about the dining rotation it should be pretty easy! I could pack now since up here in COLD Wisconsin I would never wear the clothes we're taking! Brrrr! Going to be sub zero this week up here! Going to be very glad to leave it all behind for 8 nights!! :woohoo:

We are also experiencing "fun" winter weather in Wisconsin! Uck!!! No travel docs for us yet.

We really can't wait to get out of here! Neil is outside plowing the driveway and I'm incharge of getting the fireplace going. He promised me a kiss if I do a good job.

By the way...I have to admit that my husband is the true organizer of the FE and Magnet exchange. He keeps everything moving. I just deliver the messages.

Wendy

Our Family has booked for the Magic Western this week. We are very excited and hope to meet many new friends. Our son, 11yr is looking to make some friends as soon as possible. Been working on door magnets all week. Hope to see you all very soon. This will be our :dance3: :dance3: 4th Disney cruise and our son's 6th.

Hi,

We have a 10 year old son so it would be great to have them meet at the 3 p.m. meeting. This is our first disney cruise. We are getting very excited!

Haven't received our docs yet :( hopefully this week. Sounds like everyone has had snowy weather! This is the reason we look forward to leaving this cold snowy weather in (for us 16 days) 19 days til we board our ship to the caribbean!!:cool1: Can't wait for sunny hot weather in January/February!! wearing shorts, swimming in the ocean! aaaahhhh just savoring the moment while it's 22 degrees right now.
On another topic, anyone, staying at the Radisson at Port Canaveral on Friday? We'll be staying there, it just works out for all of us. We'll take the free shuttle over to the ship first thing in the morning. We did this last year and it worked out super.
So, does it look like everyone (or some) will be able to meet for 3pm in the Promenade Lounge? It'll be so nice to meet everyone!! Hope to see you then. Laurie :)

accola ~ Well tell DH he is doing a fab job and we appreciate you guys facilitating it :goodvibes

Cruisin ~ I will be there for sure. If something changes and it's canceled just shoot me a PM I will have access to my e-mail in right up until we board so I will be checking it.

OK so who is totally excited about the Playoffs? I will be glued to the TV on Sunday to see who is going to Superbowl. The only game I really care about at this point is the Ravens/Steelers game b/c I am a HUGE Steelers fan. GO STEELERS :cheer2:

Just thought I would introduce ourselves. We will be on our first Disney Cruise. My husband and I are traveling with our 3 kids. Son (7 yrs), daughter (3 years), and son (15 months). We are from the Orlando area so we don't have far to travel. Hopefully it will be warmer on 31 Jan around here than it has been this week.....

Can't Wait!!:rainbow: :rainbow:

I was wondering if anyone has a 5-6 y/r daughter going. Would love foor my daughter to have someone or some kids to go to the oceaneers club with. :)

Hi All,

I was able to make one dinner reservation at Palo's but the brunch & High Tea was not offered. I just read that there was only one Palo reservation per cabin. Is that true? Or, can I book another reservation for brunch or High Tea when we boarded?

Thanks!

Tam - sound good about getting boys acquainted at the 3 pm meeting.

Hi all.....just wanted to say we got our cruise docs today. They came by UPS and were left at my door.
As for Palo ressies yes it's 1 ressie per cabin but you should be able to book 1 dinner, 1 brunch and 1 high tea ressie. For some reason the only ressie I was able to attain online was dinner. They've had brunch and tea blocked out since November online (at least for me). I am going to try and book brunch when we board the ship. Brunch is a must at Palo's. We've been on 5 Disney cruises (this cruise will be our 6th) and last February was the first time we did brunch and it's definitely NOT to miss. I hope everyone gets to experience Palos especially any first time cruisers it's just a totally different experience from the regular dining rotation. The pizza at Palo's are to die for!!! we can't wait for them :) YUM!! Enjoy, Laurie

Great. That is what I thought but then I saw some other info that said one booking per cabin. I have been blocked since November too.

Still waiting for my package!

:sad2:
