January 29, 2011 - 7 Day Eastern - WOOHOO!!

Hi there,

I too was training alot this year. Hated running at first-did it only to spend extra time with hubby. Started the end of April. I starting liking it only about early September, but I was faithful anyway. I did a couple of 5K runs, not races, just runs(I'm so NOT a joiner!) I think I was overtraining and ended up hurting my right calf to the point that I could barely walk. I KNOW BETTER!! :headache:

Anyhow, since I live in Ottawa, and it's freaking freezing here, I've not been running, but have been keeping up my cardio and I recently said to my hubby that I would like to get on a treadmill so I can do the run at CC.

Thanks for the inspiration-count me in!

Where is everyone??? It is so quiet!!!

Just wanting to know if there is anyone who is wanting to do the Castaway Cay 5K run when we dock!! I just did my first race and I guess you can say I am a bit hooked. I have been doing learn to run training programs all summer and now I want to beat my time from today. Let me know if you are in! Just so you know I am a very slow runner so if you are feeling intimidated by it, do not be :thumbsup2

CONGRATS Karla! That's a huge thing!!!!

Ok - looks like we have a little crew who want to do the 5k :thumbsup2

Tee hee - I like that I am not the only one who gets stalled in their training! I did it in 40 minutes exactly, but this was due to I have not been running since the summer so I did more of a run 4 minutes, walk 1minute deal. It felt great though and I would like to try and get back in to a groove so I can do the cc5k hopefully under 40min. See you at the start line!

What is the Couch to 5K program?

They just closed all the schools in the area so it is a official snow day. Roads are real bad so looks like a stay at home day and get some stuff done.

we have lots of snow - actually working from home today as the roads were so bad

schools are open though

I am in Markham - where are you that the schools are closed?

I just came in from shoveling too but there really wasn't that much. I love to shovel it when it is light and fluffy like this. Hate when cars drive in the drive way over the the snow first and it is hard to shovel. Weird I know...at least my hubby thinks so.

We went to Birch run last month too. Got some Christmas presents there that is for sure. Stopped at Bonners Christmas store to get Christmas ordnaments for for Hannah's friends and teacher. They are personalized. It has her name on it and her friends and in the middle it says a short friends saying. Love that store and it is huge.

We live less than an hour south of Burch Run/Frankenmuth. We LOVE going to Frankenmuth! It's got to be nuts up there right now! We usually stay away this time of year though.

Great Jerelle......so is Joelle a combination or yours and your husbands names?

Nope. lol. It's kind of an old joke. From the time I was a little girl, my extended family called me Jodi. When my cousin got married, her MC, who'd I'd known for years, was asked to introduce me as Joelle instead. Excpet he got it wrong and said "Jerelle." My cousin looked at me and said, "did he just say Jerelle?" :lmao: From there it kinda stuck.

We are in St Thomas, just south of London. DH left extra early this morning for work and was late. Said that visibility was nil on highway 3 to Tillsonburg and probably the worst weather he has driven in.

DH and I are planning on doing it. We are both regular runners and have been for over 20 years (the Army will do that to you), however, I was put on bed rest the last couple of months of my pregnancy (starting in jan) and then had an emergency C-section. Two weeks after the baby was born, r DH broke his pelvis playing hockey. He was only cleared to start running 2 weeks ago - 7 months after breaking his pelvis. I was running again within a week after my first 2 pregnancies, but wasn't cleared for exercise until 12 weeks with this last one. And my littlest had so many health probs initially (everything is fine now) that working out wasn't on the agenda - I was full time baby care. (And hubby care, and I still have 2 other kids and a job!!)

I started running again last month, but have only made it out a few times and only did a couple of miles with quite a bit of walking. I am hoping to do the 5k though. DH and I used to run together every day before kids but it has been quite awhile since we have had the opportunity to run together so we are looking forward it. Hopefully they will have it on our cruise!! Even if the CM don't coordinate, we can always meet together as DISers and set off on our own and wait for everyone to return and give each other high-fives!!

HAving a group going will definately give me the incentive to head out into the cold and run a little!!

Wow you girls are doing so well on your weight loss!

I won't even attempt it at Christmas. Plus I make so many cookies for Christmas I would have no will power. I really need to lose a lot of weight but I will be happy if I don't gain over Christmas. :lmao:

I have lost 70 pounds three time and I always go back to where I am now. You think I would learn.
