January 29, 2011 - 7 Day Eastern - WOOHOO!!

I would like some input too please. We have no idea if we will book excursions or which ones. Know we want to go to the beaches & swim...

:hippie::hippie: :dance3::dance3:

We would also like some ideas. We are looking maybe to try and spend some time at both the beach:beach: and some shopping.

I think we are going to just play with beaches and shopping, also. I'm saving my pennies to rebook while on board. :) Does anyone know if it's true that rebooking is only 10% deposit instead of the per person dealie-o?

Yes this is true. And I think the 10% is of the fare... not the fare + taxes and fees. Our 2 rebookings were like $130 and $150 (for 2 adults)

I have only cruised once before with kids, and found that tour groups with a toddler or baby are not super fun, so I am planning on doing things on our own.

At St. maarten, there is a beach right near the shopping. You take the water taxi ($6 pp for the entire day) and then you can do the beach and shop. Here is a link with some
Great Bay beach - http://www.sint-maarten.net/St-Maarten-Beaches/GreatBay.html

If my kids are in a good mood, I am probably going to venture to the French side to this beach at Le Galion. http://www.sint-maarten.net/St-Maarten-Beaches/LeGalion.html. We will take a taxi for our party rather than do the Disney beach (plus they go to Orient Beach which I am not interested in). I know that my DD (4 1/2) will not be able to snorkel or go in a boat at castaway cay and the water may be too cold for the baby, so this might be the only chance they have to do those things. Plus, the other side of the beach has big waves and surfers which my 8 year old will love. If we do this, we will leave first thing in the morning after docking, spend a few hours on the beach, then head back to the ship for a late lunch and probably go shopping (without kids!).

At St. Thomas I think I am going to just go with hubby by ferry to the French side. It kind of depends upon DS(8) school work. He is in a program that requires lots of projects so depending upon where he stands for projects and homework, I may turn this day into an educational day and take him on the St. John excursion that tours the sugar plantation and he can do a project on the sugar trade. I am really hoping to just have a day with DH though :cool1:

That is good to know. I think we are going to re-book on board for a Bahamas cruise in August of 2012. Unless they have finally figured out where the Magic will be then. I am really hoping for a Magic cruise out of NYC to Bermuda in the summer of 2012. We will definately be on that one!!!!

Starting to get really excited about the FE's. Maybe obsessed is a better word LOL. Learned lots of stuff today. I want to start gathering things up as I am out shopping more for Christmas. Do we have an updated list?? Just want to see a bit of a tally.

Oddly enough, the list as of the time I left on vacation is right where it stands now. No one PM'd me while I was away, and I looked thru to make sure no one had requested to be added in the thread itself. So it looks like our current count is 18 Cabins, which would translate to 17 gifts/gift bags to make (assuming you're not going to deliver one to yourself).

Wow that was quick!!! Thanks so much!!!

Curious how many are Canadians ?

Good evening all!

For excursions we have planned the Doubloon sail in St. Thomas and parasailing at Castaway Cay.

Not sure what we will do at St. Maarten.

Good to hear that the deposits are only 10% on board, hopefully prices do not continue to go up until then.

No more than 17 cabin's worth in the FE exchange. I know that TiffanyD & I live in Florida, but thats the only one I can state with accuracy.

PS-we like Canadian candies if you were looking for FE gift ideas :banana::banana:

We are doing the Doubloon as well in St Thomas? Is there only 1 boat or several boats?

We bought our tickets for Harry Potter 7 that opens in 8 days.....we are so excited even though Part 1 is going to be pretty emotional. The book made me cry at least 3 times in the first half.

Cant wait to see HP at Universal - to be honest, i am spending more time planning that one day in comparison to the week on the cruise.

Anyone seeing the movie next weekend?

Anyone been to Universal - HP yet?

Remembrance Day - while of course November 11th is a day to remember our veterans - I get to do a small dance as well as Banks have this day off in Canada. Its the one day a year that my kids go to school and i get to stay home!

SmI shall enjoy the quiet and then go to one of the schools for the Assemly at 11am

US banks are closed tomorrow too, and I went ahead and took Friday off for good measure! :)

I can bring that number down to 16, as I am from the St. Louis, Missouri area.

I am very interested to hear about the different candy in Canada!
