January 29, 2011 - 7 Day Eastern - WOOHOO!!

Just got off the Baltic cruise and booked this one for our 9th Dis cruise :woohoo:This is going to be a Great cruise can't wait:dance3:

We went and submitted the forms for our passports today, just before the fees go up even higher! Having a blast planning for this cruise! :cool1:

Hi Everyone!

My DW has already posted on this thread (TifffanyD), but I figured I'd drop by as well. We're really looking forward to this cruise as it will be our first Eastern Caribbean cruise. We have another DCL sailing on the horizon, too. We're going to be be on the 10/30 Western Caribbean, and we're getting quite excited for that one now. We are in the middle of making our FE gifts for it, and we were wondering if anyone was planning on doing an FE exchange on this cruise, as well.

Hey schimj,

The Jan 29 cruise will be my first but I am very intrigued by the FEs and the gifts - I am certainly up for the fun!

Hi we love FE gifts :dance3:can't wait only 7mo's to go :cool1:

Hi Everyone

Since it seems like there is at least some interest in a FE Exchange for our upcoming cruise, I would be willing to take on the task of being the FE organizer.

If you and your party wish to participate in the exchange, please PM me with the following:
  • your DIS Board name
  • Cabin Number (if yours hasn't been assigned yet, let me know and drop me a line when you get the cabin number)
  • Size of your Party
  • Gender/ages of party members so age/gender appropriate gifts can be made/purchased

Here are some great tips about what you need to know about FE Gift Exchanges as well for those first-timers on the cruise:

That brings us to 23 rooms and the list is closed.

Keep an eye on this post, and I'll PM the person with the first post on the thread to see if they would put a link to this thread in the first post so it could be found easily. I was thinking of closing off entries to the FE List on December 15, 2010. After the list is finalized, I would make an Excel spreadsheet with the list available to the participants.

***UPDATE 12/21***
I now have all of the cabin #s for the groups that signed up for the FE list, and I will be starting the spreadsheet as soon as I possibly can. Depending on how much Epic Mickey I play this evening, I might even be able to get through the spreadsheet this evening.

You can count me in on this:

DIS Board Name: Paddle_Nut
Cabin #: 6053
Party Size: 4. Myself (35), My DH (40), and my 2 DD's - Justine (7) and Vera (4)

We are from Canada so those of you wishing for goodies from abroad such as Smarties etc., let me know!

Karla

Hi Everyone

I'll start off:

schimj & TiffanyD, Room # TBD (11c GTY), party of 2, ages 31 (me) & 30 (DW)

It seems we do not have a lot of posters on our thread like other meet threads. For those of you who have cruised before, is this a slow week to cruise or is this normal 6 months out?

Thanks!

I guess we're just more keep-to-ourselves types on this cruise :) DW & I are on a cruise in Oct and that meet thread has over 3200 posts. It'll still be a good time, though.

I agree that this thread is not as "chatty" as I'm used to. Not sure if there are not that many people booked on this cruise or what. The last thread I was a part of we had to start a new thread as we reached the limit (like 350 pages) on our first. We were a super chatty bunch and there were lots of us. We are all super good friends and stay in touch via Facebook!

The more chatty the thread the more fun it is. By the time we all met up on the ship, it seemed like we all knew each other for ever. We were all excited and hugging. It was fun to run into each other on the ship. It really made it seem like we were sailing with all our friends.

Here is a photo from our trip of many, not all, of us from the thread. It was a May cruise.

I am so excited we are booked & ready to go. We are going on a 3 night in Sept that we just booked as a weekend treat but I'm really looking forward to the 7 day one myself. It will be good to go on a quick on first & hopefully get lots of great ideas & tips for next one.

Ok, I thought it was just me! I have the tendancy to be a thread ender...

This is our first cruise and it is going to be super hard to wait til January :yay:

I am interested in getting to know our fellow cruisers - feel free to pm me anytime!

Wow - what a great photo!!

Hey all - I am super stoked about this cruise too! It is our first too and I too would love to get to know fellow cruisers before we go. I have been completely addicted to these boards since finding them.

Our DD will turn 2 in December - anyone else cruising with a little one???

Oh! Forgot to mention that I saw on the boards that you could look up rooms available on the cruise at travelocity - I looked for our cruise and there are a lot of rooms left! I realize we have a while to go, but what does DCL do when certain dates don't fill up? Discounts???

I don't know if dcl has last minute deals, but I know things can book up quickly. When we were booking our holiday we were trying to do it through my mom's credit card rewards program. Two hours later when we went to seal the deal, all of our room options were gone :confused3. We ended up booking with dcl.

I think I check this website twice a day, it is always filled with great advice. I read a thread that you can do the castaway cay 5k run first thing the morning we dock there, hope to see you there??!!! :goodvibes

I thought I would start up a getting to know you thread so here it goes:

1. Where are you from? - Fort St. John, BC

2. First time cruising - No, but have seen a few hot beaches in my time!

3. What you like to do when you are not planning a cruise, on a cruise, or dreaming about a cruise: Dragon boating, and I am learning to run a 10km right now. Hard, but fun!

4. Kids - Two, Justine will be 7 on the cruise, and Vera will be 4, going on 5.

Feel free to add to the list!!

1. Metro Atlanta
2. This will be the 5th Disney cruise for the DW and myself. 2 deployments in the US Navy.
3. Getting ready to run the Disney half marathon just a couple of weeks before we cruise.
4. No children will be going with us. All the kids are grown and out of the house.
