January 28, 2012-do you believe in MAGIC?

We will be flying in on the 27th and hopefully staying at Port Orleans. I have been looking at the airfares and can't decide if the price is right or not. We could always drive down, but flying is so much easier. As for the excursions, we may repeat Doubloon Snorkeling. We did that one 2 years ago and had a great time, they were a lot of fun. We are considering a beach excursion in St Maarten. The biggest thing right now is to get through the summer and all of the kids activities, then I can completely focus on this trip.

Sorry, just saw this. We're from Charlotte NC. What about you??

Doh! I see you're from Columbus. Should have just read your profile thingy! Guess you'll be flying in. We are lucky enough to live close enough to drive. Doing any fun excursions?

I called Southwest and they will open their schedule for when we need to fly on July 26. So we don't have any fares yet for them. But flying Continental from Monroe is roughly $350 each.

I booked us at the Hilton Grand Vacation Seaworld for the week prior to the cruise. We have a timeshare and we exchanged for it, so we can go to Universal and Seaworld, and maybe a day at Magic Kingdom too.

Where in Shreveport do u live? What area..we have family there.

I live close to the base, right on the Shreveport side of the river. I just got a Travelocity fare alert that there were flights out of Shreveport for $230!!! But travel had to be completed by November. Still, this makes me hopeful that I can snag a fare better than the $497 it's been running. Out of DFW, it's been running right at $154.

Good Morning Everyone,
I started looking at shore excursions today. There are not many that our family can choose from due to the age limits. Our kids will be 5 and 6 months, so we may just go shopping and walking around.

I plan on doing a Little flight research today:) trying to take it easy, as I only have about 3 weeks until our new baby arrives and I am having horrible back issues. Thank goodness that I am self employed!!! I can sit around if I need too!

My little one will be three by the time we sail, and I don't think I'll be doing any Disney excursions, either. Probably just some shopping, and finding our own way to one of the beaches. The PassPorter didn't give any of the age-appropriate excursions for my three-year-old very high ratings, anyway. :confused3

Hi everyone,

This is my family's first cruise and first vacation ever! I'd like to learn more about those fish extenders. They sound fun. My group will be me, my DH, and my DD, who will be 15 at the time of the cruise. We'll be easy to spot. My daughter will be the sparkling redhead riding around in the red wheelchair and DH and I will be her humble servants attending to her every need.

We plan on flying in Jan. 25 from BWI and staying at Port Orleans French Quarter and doing Epcot and Downtown Disney before the cruise. DH want to go to Maho Beach at St. Maarten, too. I noticed someone wanted to do that. Do any of you seasoned pros have suggestions for us first-timers? Thanks in advance.

Nice to "meet" you! If you'd like, you can PM me your email address, and I can share the Fish Extender list with you so that you can edit in the information for your family. That's if you decide you want to join in!

Pardon me while I get my post count up to 10 so I can send private messages.
Sorry for the clutter.

I would run out and buy the latest copy of Passporter's Guide to Disney Cruise Line and their Ports of Call. Everything you need to know about going on a Disney cruise is in that book. Trust.
Definitely sign up for the Fish Extender exchange! Not only is it fun but it helps to be able to find your room late at night! All those cabin doors look the same to me!
Y'all are going to have the best time!

So does anyone know if there is a formal AND an semi- formal night? I'm wondering how many tiaras I should pack? :lmao:

We will also be married 10 years in Sept and we will both be turning 40 next Spring! This is our 12th cruise, but only one has been on Disney.

If I remember correctly there were 2 formal nights on the Magic.

Glad to see u got your post count up!! You will love the cruise! I agree about the Passporter, it's a great book to get.

And the FE exchange is a lot of fun too. I am not sure if we will be participating or not.. We have a lot to pack taking a baby, and with airline baggage fees, I am not sure I can get it all to fit. I may ship it all to the hotel we are staying at pre-cruise.

Thanks, Shannon.
I pre-ordered the book from Amazon. It's not due out until September, but that should still give me enough time to read it. I've already signed up for the fish extenders. Now, I just have to make one and figure out what we're giving.

Sorry, just saw this. We're from Charlotte NC. What about you??

Hi neighbor! We live about an hour north of Charlotte. I see that you are driving, we are debating whether to do that or fly. So many decisions to make................

I feel for you! We took our DS for his first cruise when he was 9 months old and I packed everything...baby food, formula, lots of diapers,....I think that our cabin steward thought we were moving in for a month. It all worked out, it was the best vacation that we could have ever taken a baby on. He took his first step on the Magic, we are still partial to that ship. He is now 7 and still loves to cruise, he knows the ships better than I do. You will have a wonderful time!

Congratulations on your baby, Steph.
My daughter is 15 and has cerebral palsy, so we have a lot of equipment to pack, too.
We're thinking of sending a box ahead to the stateroom, even though we'll be staying at POFQ for three days beforehand. We think we have enough space to carry stuff for three days at the resort. For the cruise, we're going to need a lot more supplies.

If we send a box ahead, I can also pack the FE, which I still have to make.

:cool1: We just signed up for the FE exchange. This will be our first time participating and me and my mom are really excited and coming up with lots of ideas for gifts. We are also getting ready to order our Fish Extender off of ebay as well. :sail:

I saw this on another list and borrowed it. I couldn't copy the font the same way as the original sign, so I had to change it. I think it turned out well. What do you think?
