January 24-28, 2010 -- Wonder

Waiting on info from Global Christine and then we should be complete. I also need to take Robin off once I figure out which Robin she is. I have sent pm's to both, so hopefully it should be completed soon. Since it is getting very close I feel that we should keep the list as is after the new info is added. Adding families in January would be a problem, since I have already shopped and completed my gifts. Any thoughts? I will go with whatever the majority feels is fair.:confused3

The Robin to take off the list is not me :)

I'm the one with only two adults in the cabin, myself and my husband Rick. :thumbsup2

I have deleted the correct Robin from our list, so just waiting on info from Global Christine. I will post when I receive it and then we should be all up to date.

I think it makes sense to keep the list as is after adding Global Christine's info.

see, so my not being able to be part of the FE is a good thing! it made the perfect size spot for Christine! ;)

(just keep telling yourself that Robin... let go of the resentment toward DH...)

Of course, people are still welcome to stop by (8534) and say Hi or leave a note on the dry erase board!!! I still want to meet y'all!

On that note, is anyone planning any meets?

We are going! We are a family of 5--me, DH, DS (17), DS (13), DD (5--not yet in Kindergarten).

We are on deck 8. We went on a Disney cruise in 2007, hard to believe it's been 3 whole years. DH is just back from Afghanistan, so we are ready to have a good time and relax on this cruise.

Welcome to our little group!!

And a huge Thank You to your DH for his service!!

When is your DD's bday? My DS is 5 - and not in K yet either -- he is Oct 12th -- just missed the Oct 1 cutoff...

Hi, Robin--my DD's birthday is Oct 26. In our state, the cut-off date is Sept 1. We homeschool, so the date does not really matter, but for the cruise I want her in the younger crowd. She would not do well with the older 1st-4th grade set, I don't think.

Turns out we are right next door to you (in the smaller room! Lucky you to get the suite!) in 8536. If it's anything like our previous cruise (7-day in 2007), we won't see our boys much at all. So the size of the cabin won't really matter to us.

Do you know if there are any places on board with wifi?

And I saw in passing through the posts really quickly that there will be a pirate's night. Any other special things going on like that? Thanks!

Wooooo Hoooo! Just got back from the World! I miss it already. One thing I miss on the cruise, Dole Whip Floats.

Cruisin, I think it is a great idea for a meet by one of the pools at around 3, time you suggested. Gives a chance to put faces to names and also for the kids to maybe meet a friend. Someone mentioned dd 14 nervous about meeting a friend. I have a dd 13. Last cruise I only saw her in passing in the halls. She had a blast. I'll PM you.

16 yr old son is a little nervous doesnt want to hang out with mom and dad. Anyone else have a 16 yr old or about boy going?

Can't wait. I hope there will be more chatter as time gets closer.:cool1::cool1:

I've got a 13 yo son and a 17 yo son going. I think your son will do fine and have a blast with the teens--please tell him that my (then 14 yo) son had so much fun last time that we didn't even see him the entire time--we did make him hang close when we went to Castaway Cay so we'd have some sort of "family time" on the cruise. He was fine with that.

So, ARE WE PLANNING ANY MEETS OR NOT?

Other than a brief mention of one back in November I don't recall seeing anything posted here!

Hey--another question: What time does boarding start? We are staying overnight 4 hours away...I know that if you're not on the ship by 4:30 you're outta luck, but what time should we arrive? thanks.

The terminal generally opens around 10ish I think, maybe 10:30.

You can arrive any time after that.

Boarding starts about 11:45- noon.

So as long as you make it in time to actually get on the ship, the time that you arrive is up to you.

I like to get there to be ready when the boarding starts, because to me, as soon as I'm on that ship, I'm on vacation :thumbsup2

I like to be there to have lunch and get relaxed before we set sail.

I think a brief meet is always nice to have the first afternoon onboard the ship.

That way you have a chance of recognizing your fellow DISers in the days to come.

It's always fun to run into people and catch up on how their vacation is going.

If people are interested, all we need to do is set a time and place and see who shows up.:confused3

I doesn't have to be elaborate nor last very long.

Thanks, Cruisin! I'm of the same mind you are--the vacation starts when we get on board. :woohoo: Early it is!

The boarding information posted is incorrect (may have been the case on previous sailings - I also remember hearing about earlier borading times in the past)...

I was speaking with the concierge desk 2 days ago and while they did confirm the time you can start checking in is 10:30am, the correct time for starting bording the ship is 1PM

Also - cut and paste from the DCL website:

Preparing For Your CruiseQuestion
When can I board the ship?

Answer
For our Bahamian and Caribbean cruises, check-in registration begins at 10:30 a.m. and embarkation begins at 1:00 p.m. All Guests must board the ship no later than 4:00 p.m. Please plan your arrival accordingly to avoid the possibility of not being permitted to sail with us.

In all of my 11 Disney Cruises the boarding has always been at or around noon.

That information that you posted has also always been what the "official" stuff says.

I think they just say that so that not everyone turns up at the same time.

It spreads the arrivals out a bit so that it's not crazy in the terminal:confused3

That kind of ticks me off a bit that the concierge desk doesn't tell you the truth then...

I agree but I've heard reports that you can get many different answers to the same questions depending on who you have on the phone at the time:confused3

Maybe you could check out some of the latest trip report threads and see when people say they are getting on board.

Well, mostly I asked to see if we needed to get the kids up at o'dark:thirty or not, since we will be overnighting 4 hours away from the dock. All I could remember from 2007 cruise is that we got there at a nice time (probably noonish) and still waited around for a while after checking in.

Thanks, everyone. I also remember getting to have a nice lunch once onboard, so maybe I can get my teen boys to hold off on snacks until then. Yeah, right.

O my, I am getting excited!:yay:
