January 23, 2010 Sailing with Mickey on the Magic! **The Crusin' DISers**

Jen,

A Cobra?? You mean an actual snake, right? If so, I am not a Cobra woman! Ha!

Just 2 dogs - pretty tame! :goodvibes

Counting the days until we cruise............way too many!

Goodness, no! That's too funny...no, I meant the car, sorry!:rotfl2: So it is a coincidence! :rotfl2:
My DH built a Shelby Cobra "427"...get it, "Shell427" !?!?
Cobra pics.

Hi Everyone!
We just moved our 7 day Western from Nov/Dec 09 to this one. :thumbsup2 Hoping for warmer weather than they had this year! It'll be our 2nd DCL but our 1st 7 day. We can't wait!:cool1:

Hi everyone!
We booked onboard last week, so looks like we will be joining you on this cruise! :cool1:

It will be:
Me (Beth)
DH
DD11
DS8
DS5

Jen, are you a Mustang fan? My DH has had several from a 66 fastback up to a 90 something Cobra which he sold a few years ago. I told him no more toys for him until the kids are older - lol

Anyway, looking forward to getting to know everyone...:goodvibes

Oh my goodness, how cold was it?

Oh my goodness, how cold was it?

I was on the Western (1/24/09-1/31/09) and it was wonderful weather. Not cold at all. This was our 3rd cruise in January and Castaway Cay was the best it has ever been for us. We were even swimming at Castaway Cay which was a first for us. It was cold in Florida when we returned, but the cruise itself was great, no bad weather.

Oh good! My parents live in FL during the winter and they were about ready to go back home b/c it was so cold. I just thought that carried through! Glad to know it didn't - it was one of reasons we almost didn't book in Jan. I feel much better now - thanks!:goodvibes

I have always really enjoyed doing the cruise in Jan. because it is so warm in the Caribbean it has always been 80-85 for us when we have gone. Perfect weather to shop in, but also the water at the ports has always been great for swimming. As stated earlier CC is always the stop that I worry about the weather, and I actually read on these boards that the Wonder cruise that went to CC the day after I was there was unable to dock, so that is also a concern, but we can't control the weather. There can always be something I suppose.

Hi all! I had planned a 4 day in Aug but it changed and now we are going on this 7 day!!!!! It will be me, my kids and my parents. DH will not be able to make it. This is our second cruise on DCL. We went on a 4 day in the fall and were instantly hooked. We loved it!!! According to my TA we have cabins 2594 and 2596(connected). My dad went with us last time. My mom chickened out and stayed home. This time she swears she is going. We will say. Regardless, I am.LOL

I know it’s really early but does anyone have an idea’s of what excursions they want to do?

My DH scuba dives so he will be doing that. I did the sting ray city one on another cruise a few years ago and it was awesome.

I am thinking about doing either the cavern snorkel or catamaran in Cozumel. Not too sure about what to do in GC. My father keeps bugging me to get certified to scuba so I can do it with him but I think I will stick to snorkeling.

Maybe your dad could dive with my DH? I don't dive, sharks and all, so he's always looking for a buddy.

Maybe, I will have to see what he wants to do. I love to snorkel so he may end up going with me.LOL He is always trying to talk me into it but I don't want to dive in the waters of Va and NC and I would have to do that.

My DD and I really wanted to do the one with looonnnngg zip line but DS is too young so I think we'll be doing the one that sees some ruins and a market in Cozumel - I forget what it's called.

Not sure of the other stops yet but in Key West I think we're just going to wander on our own. I'm waiting for the 2009 Passporter to arrive:thumbsup2

Same with us. I am not booking anything for Key West.

My DS wants to snorkel so badly! He was too young on our last cruise. Think we'll start practicing this summer. Does anyone bring their own snorkel "stuff"?

We're driving so space isn't a problem - thinking we'll be able to snorkel in more places that way. And while not a germ freak I do like the idea of not using mouthpieces hundreds of other people have used....

I didn't last time but this time we are getting our own stuff.

My last cruise was in Sept and the weather was fantastic. We are water people so I am concerned that it may be too chilly. I would love input from anyone who has cruised this time of year in the past.

Hi TraciM,

My family has always cruised in January this will be our 4th (hopefully we will be able to do this one). We have done 2 Eastern's and this last Jan. we did Western, My family went swimming at Grand Cayman and Cozumel. We didn't try at Key West, but the air temp was wonderful. CC is questionable. Our first year nobody in my family went swimming, but others did. Our second year my DD 5 at the time was in for like an hour, but I thought it was very cold. This past Jan. everyone was in the water. We had great weather and the water at CC was pretty warm for us. There were many people swimming and snorkeling. Just a side note though many excursions were cancelled at CC because of wind. There was a nasty cold front coming in the night we left.
I hope this info helps you, if you have any more questions I would be happy to answer them for you.
