January 23, 2010 Sailing with Mickey on the Magic! **The Crusin' DISers**

It's official...as of today we are down to double digits :cool1:

Why, you don't like us ?! :upsidedow Just kidding.

As far as I know this is it. I also assumed there would be more people.

But when I got to thinking, it just might not be a "busy" (relatively speaking of course) time for families to travel. It's only one month after December break. Our schools are closed for 1 1/2 weeks then and they make a REALLY big deal about taking kids out of school....I haven't mentioned it to DD's teacher yet

Let me know if you find more.

I hope the ship is not that full. I am hoping on getting an upgrade, free or otherwise.

Yahoo!!! I am counting the days. I am so excited and really need this vacation.:cool2: Oct 25 we can start making reservations for excursions and such.:yay:

Hi Traci!

So sorry to hear about your dad. I will put him on my prayer list. What kind of cancer does he have, if you don't mind my asking? I just finished 35 very high-does radiation treatments to my entire scalp and forehead for angiosarcoma. Thursday was the last one, hopefully for good! The worst I had to deal with was unbelievable fatigue and my tastebuds are totally on the fritz! Can't taste much of anything, but that comes with head & neck radiation. That BETTER change in time for the cruise! LOL Can't wait to meet him on the cruise and compare notes!

Kelli

By the way, anyone out there like to play cards? The DH and I particularly love Spades and Disney Princess Uno. Might be fun to get together for a game or 2. Of course with Princess Uno, no one is allowed to sit next to their spouse/partner as this game can cause marital *******! :rotfl:

Let me know if you are interested! :woohoo:

I am not sure the technical name but it is the left side of his face. They thought surgery would be enough. They removed 12 lymph nodes and a salivary gland. I am thinking head and neck radiation. 6 weeks 7 days a week. They can’t start until he is 6 weeks post surgery. That will bring him to mid November. By the time he gets it done it will be a matter of a few weeks before our cruise. I hope he will be feeling well enough to go and enjoy himself. I asked him today if he wanted to postpone until the next WC but he said so. We shall see.

DH is shy and not a people person but he like spades and poker as does my mother. She is big on cards. I am not very good at it but I will play. If you havent noticed I am the social one and he's well.....not:confused3

Hi Tracy,

That is going to be a tough one. Tell him not to depend too much on the finish date they give him. That is a very changeable thing. If your skin gets too burned they will stop for a bit and then you have to make those up. He may be unable to eat after it gets going and will be on TPN and after awhile, what he can eat won't taste like anything anyway. If he has not seen a dentist, it is imperative that he see one prior to starting radiation!! And be warned that the dentist may want to pull all his teeth before starting. Also, find out if they are using a tomotherapy machine to deliver his radiation. That generally has a MUCH better outcome than the traditional machines. Radiation really bites, but 1 of the men that was going through radiation with me had the same thing your dad did. They thought surgery alone would be enough and a year later, he was getting MORE surgery and then having radiation the same time as me.

I will shut up now, as I am sure y'all have been given all this advice anyway! I will be praying for him and all of your family. It won't be fun, but it also won't be forever and he has an awesome cruise at the end to look forward to!

Keep up your spirits!

Kelli

Hi Again! Tell the DH he doesn't have to talk to play spades! LOL And if he doesn't want to hopefully you and your mom will want to play!

I know from what I have looked up the biggest problems for him will be his teeth, possible burns and stuff won’t taste right for a bit. He has a Dentist appointment this week and he meets with the Radiation Oncologist as well after as it is a requirement now prior to the treatment. The want to wait until mid November to start. 6 weeks post surgery. They are doing 15 minute treatments. The Dr told him they wanted to treat this very aggressively. More surgery is in the future but they won’t do that until so long after radiation treatment. He is going to discuss our trip with the Dr but he still swears he will be fine to go. We were going to get trip insurance(prior to any of this happening) this month but now we are being told that him finding out he needs radiation makes this a pre existing therefore we are ineligible.:sad2: November 7th (I think) is the deadline to make changes without penalty. This is why we have not got our airline tickets yet. I guess it all dependents on what the doctor says and how he is feeling. I guess worse case is my family will have to go even if he cancels.:guilty:

I am sure it's on the first page but I am to lazy to look this AM.:rotfl: How old are your kids? My DD is 13 and DS is 10.

You must be psychic! I was going to look and see what ages yours are. My DD is 9. She'll turn 10 on the cruise, DS is 7 at the end of November.

Just wondering how FE’s and magnets work if a lot of people upgrade and change cabin numbers at the terminal?

Hummmmm, good question. I didn't think of that. Suggestions?

How's Dad doing?

Ummm…No suggestions. I am clueless. Maybe someone on the main board has a suggestion. I am still trying to figure out if I am going to do the FE’s. I am not crafty at all and eBay is outrageous to buy one. Once you add shipping and stuff it’s over $40. I have the $ but just can’t bring myself to get an FE that much. My Dad has not started treatments yet. They want him to be 6 weeks post surgery first. He meets with the Radiation Oncologist Friday so I will know more then.

We are meeting that first day, right? Maybe bring a copy of the list and have anyone who needs to update their info. Make copies of new list and deliver to cabins. I can deliver that if no one else wants to...

That sounds like a good idea!

Gee Kelli, thanks for being the voice of reason :thumbsup2 That makes perfect sense, good idea!

I was going to make a map and post it on the web site so everyone could just print it out. Do you think I should still, do many people upgrade at port?
