For $40, I'd go with Hertz, just for the better pick up experience. Reports are Thrifty has shut down their garage desk again and all rentals have to wait in line at the counter. With Hertz, I can be from baggage claim to driving out of the ramp in less than 10 minutes.

The SUV with Hertz dropped to $166, so that's the reservation I kept. $14 more is fine for the peace of mind with Hertz, and not having to stand in line in the terminal!

Interesting that for my rental this week, Budget was quite a bit under the others on the Costco site. However, now for a March rental both Alamo and Enterprise have Budget beat by quite a bit through Costco.

How often did you keep checking back? Up until the day you picked it up? I keep checking and it has stopped lowering the rate but we are getting close to the pickup time also.
