***January 2022 Thread*** - Kicking Off 2022 with WDW!

One of the reasons I chose not to consider CBR for my stay next week is due to this closure...but I will believe it when I see it.
We already booked Pop before this was announced, but we get in on 27th and are at Pop for 7 nights so it’s really no big deal. We go to HS the 28th though and really want to avoid buses anyway I can.

I really really hope it finishes in 3. I was super bummed it was going to be closed the majority of our stay. If it really is only 3 days, then I can ride from DHS to Epcot next Friday!
Yeah. I am expecting the Friendship boats to be mobbed when these are down so hopefully this will reduce that craziness...

MDE makes it sound like we can get from POP to HS, just the Epcot section is supposed to be closed.

Guess who just found that when calling to apply the military discount, the cast member booked her at the wrong Port Orleans hotel! ME!
I'm on hold with a cast member as they connect with guest services to see if they can fix it.

We had everything set up for POFQ and we just saw POR on our MDE app. I'm stressed!

Well, I had to drop the military discount (it really wasn't much) to get our rooms moved over to POFQ. We really dislike how BIG POR was when we went in 2015 and we didn't want to pay the extra $$ for the preferred rooms. So PHEW crisis averted and now it's showing correctly on MDE.

My sister was the one who realized it on her MDE - so glad she caught it because I can only imagine how stressed we'd be if we arrived at POFQ from the airport and they tell us we don't have rooms booked.

I'm glad you got it fixed! We actually arrived to MK on day 1 to find out our tickets weren't valid. You can imagine how that felt. Apparently when the TA switched us to a split stay, they didn't do all the right things and our tickets were still tied to CBR, so didn't become valid until the day we checked in there - which was the day after our first day in the parks. Thankfully guest relations hooked us up with tickets for that day, but OMG I thought I'd ruined the whole trip.

Hey guys!! I’m here now. It is Crowded. Wow! Off to HS and the transfer line at CB stretching down the ramp at 7:45. It moves fast, but I’m terrified of what crowds will be there. Epcot and MK have been busy the last couple days. What happened to slow January? It’s also warm!! Glad I brought some capris. Going to rope drop toy story. Got LL for rise and RR. Got a genie ll for midway. So far ILL are definitely worth it. Genie is not. Definitely feeling like I won’t waste the money for September.

Pretty sure we're seeing the results of many cancelled vacations last August/September that people (us included) pushed off to January/February. I know when I was part of the August group here that was a common theme when people delayed their trips. We're headed down a week from tomorrow and are prepared for heavy crowds but would love to be wrong! :)

Glad to hear you're having a great trip in spite of the heavier than anticipated crowds!

what time were you able to snag for ROR first thing in the morning?

I went for an 11:10 return time. Got it right at 7, but it was sold out a minute later. Plenty of times to pick from when I got on. I will say this, I was talking to a person behind me in line for smugglers. He wasn’t able to snag the LL for rotr and was refunded because it was glitchy/slow and didn’t actually book his time. My experience was completely simple. I noticed though if I’m on the Disney wifi things do not seem to be working right, but if I turn off wifi and go on data it’s perfect. So if you’re looking to buy LL, don’t use wifi. I think it makes a huge speed difference. And I definitely recommend the purchase for rotr if you can. The line was hovering at about 145 minutes today and it went down twice that I know of. Once was right before my time. The app will update and you can go back at any point when it’s running again. You can tough it out on the line and keep waiting, but at least with LL you guarantee the return spot. I was lucky because it went down right before my time, but I got a LL for star tours right around the corner immediately. Did that and by the time it was done rise was up and I was on it.

We booked on Disney wifi and had no issues, but I wonder if it was less busy because on the Friday we were at HS, the ROTR LLs were still available at 8:20 (when I purchased after rope dropping - we wanted to go again!)

I really want someone to stand in that 145 minute line and tell me if the time is accurate. We noticed that so many of the wait times were inflated, but we know FOP was not one of them (my uncle waited the entire 120 minutes that was listed). I'm curious if ROTR is an inflated wait time or not.

Glad you're having a good time so far!

MK wait times are definitely inflated. Yesterday haunted mansion was supposed to be 45, it was 29. I also don’t understand the return times for genie going from 9 am all of a sudden to 2 pm. And then the next thing you know there’s a return for something right away. When it was fast pass and you could cancel and stack that made more sense. I don’t think this system is all it’s cracked up to be. Not that I would want to encourage Disney to charge more, but the flat rate for the day just isn’t as useful as pay for the rides most important to you if you want to go on quick. It would almost be like when you paid more for E ticket attractions. Even fast pass had tiers in the parks other than MK.

We liked it, but we also really liked MaxPass at DL. If they took away the once per ride rule, then it would just be MP and I would be thrilled!

I never got to try that. I had it booked for my trip in May 2020, but obviously that didn’t happen. I think either allowing to stack two at a time or as you said allowing repeat rides it would hold better value. I don’t think it’s selling like they want to though. The standby lines are jammed. I don’t see a lot of people on the LL return lines. I think today was the only day I found it useful. Epcot my first day I didn’t use it at all. I bought Remy and everything else, even Soarin was walk on. I didn’t even find it worked for anything other than BTM in MK. I’ll see tomorrow how AK goes if I find I like it there.

Going to use this tip today when I attempt my first ever G+ LL selection: Slinky Dog Dash. Fingers crossed!
