Booking our January 2020 trip as we speak. We arrive January 26th - staying until February 1st.

Anyone else planning on being there that week? This will be our first time staying at Pop Century. Chose it for the Value ($$) and the transportation and gondola options. Any tips anyone would like to share about Pop Century?

This is the first time we are taking our family and paying for it ourselves so I'm feeling extra nervous - it's such a big investment! But we LOVE Disney so we've been waiting to do this for a long time. We went back in 2016 but my parents paid our way and it was a very short stay.

I've also never been in January. Looking forward to cooler weather - but anything else I should be prepared for?

I should also add - our son will turn 12 years old while we're there. Any special birthday deals or perks that we should be aware of?

I stayed at POP last month and my only complaint were the absurdly slow busses compared to the other values. But with the gondola system open it should alleviate that frustration. It’s definitely a good choice, the rooms are quite nice!

I love pop century. My son loved the main pool when he was younger. I loved how fun it feels. We never had any problems with the bus. Also loved the tie dye cheese cake.

Our family has stayed at the Pop Century a ton. The rooms are adorable and the pools are great for the kids. We liked the quick service options in the morning when we needed a big breakfast before heading out for a full Disney day. I'm sure you'll have a blast!

That's interesting. I've heard the buses actually work better at Pop?!

Be prepared for rain and both warm and cold weather. We go the last week of Jan. every year and the weather is always a toss up. Some days jacket weather, some T-shirt weather, some wet,wet wet, days. Always fun though.

I don't know what state you live in, but if its one that's prone to snow in the winter, you might want to consider your airport being snowed in during Jan or Feb. We live in NYC, and that's why we never go during those months. Can't count on the weather here, not the weather there.

I’m planning my first solo trip the exact dates as you mentioned. I feel like I need to plan for absolutely everything. Galaxys Edge will certainly bring in a chunk of crowds and is the Pro Bowl that weekend? Will that bring in a crowd? Weather is a toss up also right.

Not in my experience, for what it’s worth. I’ve stayed at ASMo and Sports as well as Pop and the wait for any Pop bus to and from the resort was noticeably longer on a consistent basis.

Last year the Pro bowl had very little effect, the weather was also great, one day rain the rest of the week in the 60/70s. A very enjoyable week, I wouldn’t worry too much about the pro bowl, Galaxy’s edge will probably take a little bit of the pressure from the other parks. Last year the only really busy park was Magic Kingdom.

Thank you so much for the reply. I’m planning things out and it’s good to know that information

One interesting thing you will see in January is The 15s(South American girls in matching shirts and backpacks celebrating their 15th Birthday in Tour Groups).

July is the primary "season" for them, but there will be hundreds of them in January/February as well and there will most likely be a good number at Pop Century.

You will know them when you see them!lol :)

There will also be around 800 College Students from Brazil working at WDW in January while on their Summer Break.

You will see them EVERYWHERE-the Resorts,the Parks,Disney Springs,etc.

They are GREAT Cast Members and super fun to talk to.

There will also be hundreds and hundreds of South American families bringing their kids to WDW during Summer Break in January.

Brazil LOVES WDW-there is even a strong rumor that Brazil is going to get a Pavilion in World Showcase!:)

When in January are they there- the whole month?

Yes,all of January(not many the first week of January) and all of February(February is Argentina 15s only for the most part).

But their numbers are NOTHING like July,I would say less than half of July numbers.

We will be at POP from the 22nd - 31st. We love it there. Our favorite section is the 50s. I can't wait to ride the skyliner. :)
