January 2017 Hours

So, I've been to Disney every other year since 1996 in January - almost the same week every year - the week of MLK Day. The crowds are "kinda" heavy, but not bad. During this week the parks seem to be open later (especially MK), usually till 9-10pm. So in 2017 we are going the week after. Per the Disney official calendar, 1/23, MK is only open till 6pm? What?! And there is very little EMH in the evenings. Is this typical for that week? Will there not be any Star Wars fireworks at HS that week too, with them closing at 7pm? I'm hoping they just don't have the full schedule out, but 4 months away, I'm thinking that is what it's going to be. Any thoughts? I know it is a very slow time of year, but I didn't know everything shuts down after dark. Wow!

Disney has been making last-minute changes to park hours for several months now. Hours for October were just updated again a few days ago - two weeks in advance of October. I would expect that they'll still be tweaking January's hours in December.

If they keep putting info out at the same speed they have been for the past few months you won't fully know about January hours and shows until December.

We were there this year over MLK weekend and the Friday-monday MK was open till midnight then Tuesday till 11. I think its safe to say at least 9 at the earliest.

That is weird because every other night around that date is open until 8PM or later on the weekends. I wonder if there is a mistake on the website. Doesn't make sense that they would be closing at 6PM on a Monday night unless there is some special event...

Lately I wouldn't say there is much increase or drop in any week but for any holiday, the week that requires the least amount of vacations days from work is noticeably more crowded and the weekend of the holiday is crazy crowded.

Came here to say this. I have seen this on other threads as well. But in general, hours for other parks/other days are fluid and will still change.

I can verify that Magic Kingdom is closing at 6pm on 23 January because I tried to reserve something last week for my that day, which is my birthday. It was showing up as not happening, only that day in all of January, so I called and was told that they close that night for a private event at 6pm.

Aren't they doing an early close for a CM event in November? That seems quick to be doing another so soon.

I found this thread searching for why the park is closing at 6pm on 1/23/17. I see it's for a CM party. We have an ADR at Liberty Tree at 5:45 that day, we're not CMs. Is this going to be a problem? I just don't want to be told we're out of luck when we get there.
