Hello! I've been waiting to post here for a few weeks. Last month I won a trip for 2 to LA for 3 days to see the NHL All-Star games. My 12-year old son is stoked to be going! The contest sponsor kindly agreed to fly us back a full week later instead so we can stay & explore more on our own dime.

We will be flying in to LAX on Jan 28th. Spending Monday at Universal Studios, and then Jan 31 to Feb 4 in Anaheim. My plans for our first day is to check in to the hotel and head to Huntington Beach for a whale/dolphin tour and hang out for a bit. Then maybe a short evening in CA.

I have $1,500 saved in Disney gift cards and was planning on staying at PPH until I realized 4 nights would be just short of $1,300. I just can't justify that kind of cost. Instead I'm thinking it would be better to use the gift cards towards the CAN resident 4-day passes, meals, snacks, etc.

So I'm looking at staying at BW Plus Pavilions, Stouvall's Inn, or Castle Inn & Suites or Hotel Indigo instead. Any thoughts on these?

A DLR holiday was not anywhere on our radar until I saw the 25% of parkhoppers for Canadian residents, and then received a pin code for 40% off hotel rooms on week nights!

Ohhh lucky! I wish I would get one.

We're going 1/27-1/31...got a great deal at BW Plus Stovall's. We were at BW Plus Mini Suites, but we opted for a longer walk & save some moolah.

We've always gone in the summer so I'm stoked for cool weather!

Mind if I ask what kind of deal you got from BW Plus Stovall's? I'm hoping the weather will be warm, though I'm sure coming from winter here in Ontario, Canada it will be warm to me anyways! At least I sure hope so.

new security gates are not making me happy right now......having to walk all the way thru DTD when staying at Paradise Pier, BW Stovall, Eden Roc or Annabelle (and other hotels on that side) is frustrating.
I stay on that side so we can walk thru the Grand into either DTD or DCA, depending on the time of day ~~ now the rumor is entrances into DTD or DCA from the Grand will be for Grand guests only! I loved walking thru the Grand every day -- esp during the holiday seasons!!

I'm still trying it figure this out. I hope at least on the morning I have Storytellers' Cafe breakfast booked at GCH, I can at least continue through GCH that morning.

Welcome to JAN thread Congrats on winning the trip! It sounds wonderful! Weather should for sure warmer than Canada. We are sitting at 6 degrees ourselves right now. Brrrrr!

First trip to Disneyland booked a few days ago! Last minute decision to take a 10-year anniversary trip with my husband. Will be staying at Paradise Pier from January 9-13. We absolutely cannot wait!

I bit into a Christmas treat (an unpopped kernel in a popcorn ball) and broke a crown. The previous crown was not root canalled however with the additional breakage it will now need one. 3000 dollars later I don't have any money for Disney.

Just called and cancelled my dessert party and atleast that was very easy and quick. The CM said the charge will be reversed with few days.

So on the bright side, if you ever need to cancel your prepaid dessert party it is no problem.

Oh my gosh I have so much sympathy for you!! Monday I go in for 4 crowns and I have serious anxiety at the dentist. Two of them just have to be put on and are already paid for but the other two will be done 100% that day. Sniff. Have you checked around with other dentists and how much they would charge? I know my dentist will actually price match for people that don't have insurance if they can find a lower price.

I don't know if this will help anyone, but we are going towards the end of January. Just out of curiousity I checked the pricing again and our hotel (DLH) portion went down over $400! We are still 31 days out so I had no change fee, but there is a promo now "enchanted hotel offer" that I must have missed somewhere along the way.

we should arrive at our hotel around 12:30pm -- i hope the room is ready so we can unpack a bit and put away are groceries!
after that we will figure out the route to take to get into security now...lol! then hit up DL to see what wait/FP times are like for POTC, BT, HM, JC -- we arrive on Sat Jan 6 so I want to ensure we get the holiday stuff done by Sunday before it all disappears!!
