We went in early Feb 2012 (our escape from the super bowl trip) and Splash was running, so they do run it in the winter sometimes. We rode it during the day and at night- fun to do both in the same day. Felt like a different experience! Looked up refurbs on all ears- no rides listed yet. Anyone know when those start showing up? I hope test track and thunder mountain are both running. Those are our faves as a family and one or the other has been on refurb during our previous trips. Sent from my iPhone using DISBoards

We've went January 2011 and January / February 2014 and Splach was closed both trips.

We are hoping for either Jan 24 - Feb 4 or Feb 22 - March 4, but that is definitely PIN dependent!

I know this is really early but...is anyone else hoping for a discount or fd for January? We are hoping to go Jan 11 through the 17 and really hoping for a code.

I'm planning on going Jan 12 through 17!

Count us in! We were trying to go this September for our anniversary, but because of the FD there was really nothing available to us for the week we had already requested off work within our budget. I have been in February before for my birthday, but mid to late January sounds nice. We aren't sure where we're staying yet, but I would love to stay at WL. Does anyone know when the definite date for the marathon is? Also, for you January vets, are there any other rides/shows that are usually closed this time of year?

We have gone in early Jan and late Jan for the past several years and love it. I don't know Marathon dates, but you can probably just google it. The only impact that had was on transportation. We left the day of the marathon and the drive to the airport took twice as long. Little impact on the parks.

In terms of rides, you can probably expect many of the water rides to be closed for refurbishment....Splash Mountain and Kali River Rapids in particular. We went on SM once but it has been down for the past 3 years during our time there - last week of Jan. We don't go to the water parks so not sure about those....sometimes, it depends on weather. Most of the other rides and shows go right on as scheduled, but there might be a limited calendar. Fantasmic, for example, might show 3x a week or only once a night. Just have to plan ahead a bit.

It's worth it for the lower crowds and better temps (usually, better temps).

I don't mind the water rides being closed for refurbishment or the water parks being closed since we don't go there anyway. Thank you for your response, I'm pretty sold on going this time of year!

For those going last week of Jan, looks like there may be a private event closing down DHS early on Mon, 1/26, with no F!, shifting DHS EMH to Sun, which mucks with our plans a bit as we usually avoid EMH and do DHS our first Sun.

Perhaps we'll do DHS on a likely verly low crowd Monday with shortened hours and skip Fantasmic this trip.

Also looks like no MSEP on Thu, which is weird compared to prior schedules. This may make Fri very busy at MK, since it will be the first MSEP since Mon. Might have to switch our usual Fri MK day to another day.

Can anyone tell me about crowds / room availability during the marathon weekend. For 2015 it's Jan 7-11?

We are planning to check in on Jan 11, but likley only go to MK that night since it's open late - just want an idea if it will be difficult getting a room.

Chiming in for January and discounts. Is a discount board for January made yet? It's been play/stay/dine and room discounts three years running so that's probably it. We always go in January. Good time to skip school for kids without missing much. Work is slow for us, in the past ten years we Only had one bad weather trip, walk on most rides. Hoping to start planning trip # 44 (or 45, I'm hoping hubby gets a big bonus so I can take kids in sept for their bdays!).
