January 2015 refurbishment schedule - Subject to change, repeatedly

ARGH!!! Soarin' is one of my all-time favorites! And it's going to be closed while we're there if this holds true. And Peter Pan's Flight...was really looking forward to that one too.

I'm bummed about WOC. It'll free up some evening time, but I was really hoping my sister's family would be able to see that show as they are joining for the their first DLR trip in February. Maybe by late Feb it'll be back up - you never know!

Of course, we know when we plan for Feb trips that crowds will be lower, but refurbs will be up, so you just roll the dice, go with the flow, and rock out with your...ears....out!

This is where I'm glad I bought APs for the family. Nearly everything will be open for our November trip, so we'll be sure to do all the things that will be closed on our next trip at the end of February.

The big bummer: no World Of Color. We'll catch the Winter Dreams version next month, but me and my son prefer the regular version. Bummed that we'll miss that in February. Matterhorn going down? No biggie. Splash Mt going down? NOOOOOOoooooooo. My favorite ride! And then Soarin'. Not a top 5, but we'll miss riding that on our next trip.

We are going February 7-10. I could live with this list if nothing is added, but I doubt that based on the fact it says these are the refurbs starting by January 12.

I was expecting Splash since it always goes down in Jan and Feb, but it is still a bummer. I read about the Soarin' refurb, so I am over that surprise now. Peter Pan is give or take and we stick close to bed time, so WOC is not to bad. My husband pointed out since we are DVC, we don't have to worry about the music waking the kids up.

This is our first trip with a kid over 40", so it is a bummer those are closed but I am most bummed about the Matterhorn. My son was super colicky and would cry and cry and cry for five hours straight every night for 2.5 months. It sounds silly, but one way I got through it is I would imagine riding with him on the Matterhorn. I don't even love this ride, but I have been waiting to actually do this. Oh well, I will wait longer. We discussed that with Soarin', Splash and Matterhorn down, that is less my younger child has to wait for us to Rider Swap, so it probably works out.

So- we knew going in Feb, we would be dealing with closures, I hope it stays with just these, but think it won't.

I'm so glad we're buying AP's and his year, I'll hit my fav's in July when we go. Hope the lost doesn't get bigger!

I just have to say that I think it is kind of crappy that Disney plans a new RunDisney event for Jan 16-18, maybe to try and boost attendance for what use to be a slower time of year, and then they schedule that many refurbs beginning just before that weekend. They can't push some of them back one week, or leave some holiday overlays up an extra week? I know things have to be fixed, or spruced up for the anniversary, but it kind of feels like a slap in the face. Like "Hey, come to this new event but oh, we are going to have many of the rides closed down." Just very frustrating when we decide to spend extra money to do one of their events, but then have so many rides down, which creates even worse crowds in the parks.

At least Star Tours isn't scheduled to be down.
