January 2015....Let the planning begin!

We will be at WDW Dec. 29-Jan. 5! Staying 5 (free!) nights at the swan and 2 nights on points at BLT. It's our first time at our home resort :)

We will have DVC APs and dining OOP.

I have 2 boys, 8 and 6 and a wonderful DH. We've never been on a true holiday so this is sure to be an adventure. And! The trip is a surprise for the lil ones.

I'm going to have to go back and get caught up on this thread. I'd love to get this groups thoughts on our plans, so I'll be back soon.

How in the world did you score five free nights at The Swan? That is awesome!

Hello All:wave2:
We are booked, Rooms, Tickets, ADRs even Memory maker. CBR all 6 of us. Jan. 25th thru 30th. Doing the Happy Dance :dance3:

I love SPG! I did book almost a year in advance though to get my five free nights. The best part is that they have a promo where you pay for 4 nights in points and get the 5th completely free!!

In the last year, I travelled 75% and worked ridiculous hours...at some point started dreaming about vacations...and then I started planning...a lot of them! :rotfl:

Oh...would like to share my more detailed plans with the group and get any feedback or recommendations. I've really struggled with planning given a few things 1: FP+ 2: the time of year

We are DVC members and typically go in the first week of June, but have been in October, early December, late May, during F&W, etc.

Dec 29 SW flight arriving in Orlando at 8am
Candlelight Processional DP @ 330pm Garden Grill...for the middle
show. We have done CP w/NPH before. The kids slept thru pouring
rain!
Dec 30 Beaches and Cream 11:50, NYE Dessert Party @ MK. Possibly hit HS
in am prior to relaxing in afternoon and hitting MK mid-day
Dec 31 AK in AM, Relax/Nap thru day, Hollywood Brown Derby dinner 7pm
and HS for NYE celebration
Jan 1 Captain's Grill 925 am, Relax and spend day as we wish
Jan 2 Rose & Crown 725pm, but may make this date night
Jan 3 California Grill 700pm
Jan 4 Be Our Guest 800pm
Jan 5 Crystal Palace 800am; SW flight leaving Orlando at 430pm

Thinking the first half of the trip will be spent at Epcot, HS, and AK and the last half of the trip at MK due to locations of hotels.

This trip is a surprise for my boys. We may tell them at Christmas so the anticipation can build for a week, but haven't decided on that point. We've been to Crystal Palace, Cali Grill, and B&C before, but all of the other restaurants are new to us.

Recommendations and opinions welcome!

Geeze, now that I see all the quotes that I have below, I feel a bit stalkerish

But I am thrilled to be going to WDW again in January 2015. Reading through the last 15 pages made me ready to pack up and leave ASAP ;)

DBF and I are going to ASSp Jan 24-30. This will be our 1st time to stay on site.
This will be DBF's 2nd trip; I lost count for me (some where in the 5-10 range). Growing up we always stayed off site at an RCI condo. I am so excited to stay on site :cool1:
I have been reading on another board about decorating room windows and I have been collecting sports mickey clip art pics.

I am so glad to see that I will be in good company on our trip :woohoo:

:wave2: :wave2: :wave2:

Yes!!! January 24-31!

Where are you staying? I'm jan 24-1!

I'm joining in the fun!

January 20-30 at Pop

Just me and my youngest daughter --- she's turning 13 during this surprise mother-daughter trip.
:rotfl:

Hooray! Just booked - January 24-28/29. Need to work on the husband (and, you know, the budget). :)

I'm so excited because I was able to trade my timeshare points into a one-bedroom Boardwalk Villa! :yay: DS and I will be arriving Jan. 25 and staying for a week. I haven't made any plans yet, but just had to share the good news!! It's our first stay at the BWV and we're really looking forward to staying there.

Joining in!

We will be at POFQ Jan. 25- Feb. 1. First time there, as DH and I have decided we really like trying a new resort each trip (even though we've thoroughly enjoyed every resort we've stayed at).

We'll be driving as it's only about 6.5 hours for us. We do plan to mainly use WDW transportation while we're there.

Anyone else have park or dining plans yet that's going the last week in Jan?

Booked in at AofA on the 24th and checking out on the 31st! :)

Hello Everyone! :) I live in Northern Manitoba, Canada, and coming down to WDW for the 3rd time. First was in 1984 when I was 8, second was in 2007. Yes, that long. I went to DL in 2010 as well. When my oldest dd turned 8, my mom thought that was a perfect age for Disney. Old enough to carry the memories forever, old enough to not need naps, etc. lol So she decided that she would take her grandkids as a treat when they turned 8 years old. Well the joke was on her as I ended up with 4 kiddos and my sister had 2.... luckily we had 2 of them in the same year so that cut down on one trip ;) haha! So yes, I have been with dd#1, then ds #2, and now it's dd#3's turn. She turned 8 last November, but my sister was battling a horrible cancer for most of 2013 and we just couldn't travel at the time. Actually, her and I had a last minute trip booked and everything as the last thing on her bucket list (she was Dobby on the disboards, HUGE Disney fanatic), but she passed away in September 2013 a week before we were due to leave. Years of teasing her for her Disney love and constant researching and planning, and I'm becoming JUST LIKE HER when it comes to planning the trips. Scary. lol So her love has transferred to me and I plan on letting it grow even stronger than it already was. This trip will be bittersweet, but my mom and I are very much looking forward to soaking in the Magic and feeling my sister spread some pixie dust on us. :)

ANYHOO..... just wanted to give a bit of a background on me and my Disney love. :)

I do have ADR's booked but I keep changing my plans. haha!

As of right now I have:

1/25 (MK all day) Crystal Palace (dinner)

1/26 (Epcot all day) Akershus (lunch)
Garden Grill (dinner)

1/27 (Epcot morning, DHS afternoon) Mama Melrose (late lunch - Fantasmic! package)

1/28 (AK and then DTD in the evening) Rainforest Cafe (lunch)

1/29 (MK most of the day) Chef Mickeys (breakfast)
Liberty Tree Tavern (late lunch)

1/30 (MK later in the day, not sure of the morning yet) The Plaza (early dinner)
Tomorrowland Terrace (Wishes Dessert Party)

1/31 NOT SURE!?! LOL!

We're on the DDP so one TS per day, and we plan on just paying OOP for one of the TS unless I cancel one, as well as paying OOP for our last day there (31st) as we'll have checked out before heading to whatever park suits our fancy for the morning until we have to head back to catch the MDE. We'll throw in our CS throughout the week for lunches/dinners and plan on using our snack credits mainly for breakfast (muffins, etc.) as we're not huge breakfast people.

I'm counting this correctly, right? We are there 7 nights so we should have 7 TS, 7 CS, and 7 snacks? And even if we check out early on Saturday and hit the park, if we have any remaining credits we have until we leave the park for the very last time on the Saturday that we fly to use them up, right? Same as having access to the parks, checking out doesn't mean we deactivate our last day on our MB's?

We have ADR's booked for our week!!!

I'm so sorry your sister didn't get to take one last trip to Disney. Your post made me tear up!

We will be there during the same week as you! We are even planning to be in the same parks on the 25th and 26th.

You are counting your dining plan credits correctly. You can use them up until midnight of the day you check out. It's a good idea to use a snack credit at your resort before heading into the park on your last day. That way if there is a problem with your remaining credits you will know while you are still at the resort and it's easier to fix.

:wizard: Joining in, we will be arriving on Jan 9 through Jan 17 with our first ever split stay... POFQ and AoA!

So far we have ressies at:
1/9: Tony's Town Square
1/12: Le Cellier
1/14: Brown Derby
1/15: Yack & Yeti
1/16: O'Hana

I have a few more to book, but I'm not sure where to go. :confused3 We are trying to do places we haven't done before, so that's the challenge.

So looking forward to our trip!:woohoo:

We will be there at the end of January. Split stay -offsite with parents at a timeshare resort, then AKL courtesy of a very generous DVC friend.

Traveling with our almost three year old at time of trip and so excited that my parents have volunteered to babysit a few nights. They are not theme park people and just want to relax.

I've tried not to overbook TS meals. DS was way overstimulated when we visited Seaworld last January so we want to be extra flexible in case he needs downtime.

That being said- we have booked:

1/25 T-Rex lunch
Wishes Dessert Party (Date Night)

1/26 - Garden Grill early dinner

1/30- Hollywood & Vine breakfast

We will have a car and be on a budget, so I anticipate a few offsite meals when we take park breaks.

DH and I will be there January 24-February 1. We are taking my Dad, who will be 74 when we go - he's never been. We'll be camping at Fort Wilderness. We got all the ADR's we wanted with the exception of Crossroads House of Blues. Will keep checking and hope we get in. Guess the next be thing will be working on FP+ when the time comes. Glad my DH is so good at planning!:tigger::tigger:

After much waiting, I requested my days is off and bought our airline tickets today! I kept watching the flights and the prices went down, so I made the purchase. Now, if only I could lock in a good room discount or some type of dining deal!

But, that's what we're all waiting for, right?

YES! I do have mine booked already but I'm not opposed to switching resorts if the discount makes it an option ;)
