January 2015 Car Rental Code Watch

I'm at $235 for a standard (full) from MCO return to MCO Jan 17-24 Using Costco id (yes I'm a Costco member) And the free one day AF5365ODH code. Hoping they will drop right before travel but if not this isn't terrible.

I have gotten great rates in past years. Day after thanksgiving and Dec 1-3. Then prices start going back up. I've gotten an economy(just two of us). for never more then $110 for 7 days...going to have the car 9 days this time so i've budgeted $120, pretty confident, i'll find that. Usually Alamo or Avis(the tram to Avis is painless, took 7mins). :cool1:

I'm a serious rule follower, not to mention a scaredy cat! I put in this contract ID and coupon code and it brought me down from $340 to $181. I don't want any surprises at the airport. Looks like these are Alamo discounts? Can someone take away my fear?

One is a BJ's code, the other is from a vroomvroomvroom.com website. I've researched the vroom code and it looks like it works and is fine to use.

Rates are really high right now. The best I can do right now for my Jan trip is Alamo Id 299851 and coupon ad2338fdf. This gives you a decent rate on a full size crossover. I went ahead and made a resi to be safe. I am still hoping that Costco runs the great Black Friday special that they did last year. Those were great deals!
Do you need to be a Cosco member for this discount? I got a Mini Van for $242 using these discounts. I want to make sure I won't be blinded sided w/ additional charges. Thank you.

Do you just go directly to Alamo's or Avis' website? And you don't use a special coupon or anything? Thanks for the info.

Both times it was without a coupon. I just get used to going and running my dates daily around that time and got good deals.
Now I'm signed up with the car rental companies, i read my email alerts.

Also both times, I did not already have a reservation that I then went back and cancelled. Hope this helps.

I was able to get a great deal with the vroomvroom code 299851 and $30.00 off coupon ad2338fdf. I have never used this code before. Can someone please assure me that it is ok for anyone to use. Do I need to join anything in order to use this code legitimately. Thanks in advance. Why does this code give such a better price?????

Through Alamo using Costco ID 7014627 and Coupon AF5365ODH for a free day a midsize is $184 inc taxes with free additional driver. Sign up for free Alamo Insiders and get a free upgrade to a fullsize.

WoW thank you for the code! I just reserved a Full size pick up with a quad cab from 1/23/15 through 1/31/15 for $160 total including all taxes, fees, and other crap charges they find a way to tack on to a rental car. It was cheaper to rent the truck than any other car in the entire fleet. :cool1:

just got done reading December 2014 Rental Thread, page 11 to the end.
Found good website: http://carrentalsavers.com/
has a list of new featured car rental discounts if you scroll down a bit.

Can't wait for our rates to go down, they will, i'm just impatient.
:woohoo:

Rates for my dates have sky rocked. I'm looking for a one way from MCO one Jan 2nd to near Universal Orlando Jan 6th. Fortunately, I booked a rate I could live with. $102 for 4 day or $150 for the week through Dollar. Right now, everything is showing up over $300.

I am also desperately looking for something cheaper to rent at the end of december through new years... waited to long :(
If anyone finds something please let me know!

Alamo's website is currently broken. With the Vroom contract and $30 off coupon codes entered it is showing decent rates on the "Select Car" page (that supposedly includes all taxes and fees)... however, once you select a car it recalculates and shows a much higher price on the next page titled "Choose Extras". :confused3

Edit: I am traveling for 9 days, however Alamo shows pricing for a 7 day rental on the "Select Car" page, then shows my 9 day rental cost on the "Choose Extras" page. Software bug!

Disney is not alone in having dysfunctional IT applications! :rotfl:

The Planner in me wants to get a car now.
The past Jan WDW traveller in me knows to wait - Great deals day after thanksgiving. As well as Dec 1-3 or 4 then it starts to go back up.
:cheer2:Thinking good thoughts:cheer2:

How do you get this Costco code to work. I tried and nothing happened. I need a car from 1/17-24. Any size will do. I keep getting rates around $250.

I was able to get a midsize with Alamo today for a week in January for $222. Previously it was over $300. I had gotten a car for $182 using the vroom vroom code, but the more I thought about it, I just didn't feel comfortable using that code. I read some old posts about it and most felt it was an old code that was meant for international visitors. People can do what they want, but I wasn't willing to take the chance. I'm quite happy with the $222 I found today. Of course, I'll keep checking to see if it goes lower :). Oh yeah, that was as an Alamo insider AND using a VISA code.

I was trying Costo's ID (7014627), but mis-typed and entered 7016427 which comes up as Vegas Brazil LLC. I added the AD2338FDF $30 Visa coupon and my rates are the lowest I've found to date.

I don't know was Vegas Brazil is, but I'm holding a ressie for now..until I can find something better or confirm it can be used by anyone.

For example...when I first started looking, I had a standard car for $206.28 using Costco's code. I was able to get a mid size SUV for $203.64 using Vroom's code. Now..using Vegas Brazil, I'm down to $154.29 for a standard and I think around $228 for a mini van or standard SUV.

We are going into MCO on 1/28 and returning from TPA on 2/4.

HTH!

I finally had some luck this evening with Alamo and the Costco ID 7014627 plus coupon code AD2338FDF, as well as the Alamo Insider's discount. From Jan. 18 to 27, the total for a standard car came to $185 (all inclusive).

Hope it goes lower, but that's a start. Good luck!

thanks for the codes!

It does make my dates of 1/31 to 2/6 a little cheaper, $199 all in. That's still a little high, when I can do without the car. I just like the convenience of it. :thumbsup2
