January 2013 Discounts

...we're booked in Pop Century during marathon weekend (first time there since we are bringing my parents for their first trip). Called to check on AAA discounts - but CM did say discounts were coming out early October and they would be better than what the AAA discounts were (5% on Pop). Then she paused and said "or maybe the end of this month."

Not sure of our chances given marathon weekend, but she seemed pretty confident. Good luck everyone!

I want to bring my four grandchildren (and their parents) to Disneyworld for their first visit, in January! I think I'm going to book the airfare now, because I'm worried the prices will go up by the time any January discounts come out. I think I'll hold off on the rooms for now...we're going to stay in a Value Resort.

It's going to be a surprise for them and I'm so excited about it!!

How exciting! We go with our kids and grandkids and it is so much fun to see the kids enjoying it. My 11 year old GS has gone 5 times and the 4 yr old one has gone 3 times, but the first he was only 4 months so that doesn't count.We have nothing planned for 2013 although I have a ticker of when we usually go...end of Jan...but I am hoping we will go.

As far as the 'history' of January discounts go, has a Pin been sent out first, a Visa card offer or has the GP offer been the first discount to come out? We are only possibly going if the FDing comes out a few days before the Marathon or possibly earlier in January than that (which I'm doubting, but hey it could happen!). So I'm on pins and needles waiting (obsessing, lol!).

For each of our trips, I book with a AAA discount. I've never used it because for every trip, even the ones over Thanksgiving, including Easter, and at Spring Break, I have gotten a PIN that could be used (occasionally much to the surprise of my TA) or we have used one of the public codes. That being said, I always book the resort we really want to be at, and count on my best price as the original AAA quote. Then I (pretend that I...) won't be disappointed when another discount doesn't come out. At least we are happy with our resort choice and know we have a room when we want to be there. The thought of waiting for a PIN and then trying to book won't work for me. Of course my fingers and toes are all crossed waiting for a new PIN that is for our travel dates in January. It always makes me a little nervous when they arrive for times we can't go... Do I use up my PIN quota? lol...

This is exactly what we do! Our room at BLT is booked via AAA as it's the best rate we can currently get. The resort/room type was most important. Free dining will only save us about an extra $200. Of course, I hope for a better discount, but at least I have something for what I want!

Well, I have tried to not be one of those people but today I couldn't take it and called Disney to ask about January discounts ( as we all know it all depends on who u get on other line) I got told that January discounts are coming reeeeeaaalllyy soon... I kind of knew that but it was still nice to hear...

Does anyone know (historically) what dates have not been included in Jan specials. I am going between checking in on MLK day, Monday 1/21 or Friday 1/25. I will change my dates to get a deal, but want to get my dinning organized before a FD discount is released and all of the restaurants get booked up!

Also, we are going for 9 days. Would arrival on 1/21 provide noticeably lower crowds for our trip than arrival on 1/25? Touring Plans seems to be projecting much higher crowds than we typically experience this time of year. Thoughts?

Is it odd that I got an email confirmation today for reservations that I made in April?? Or is it just because the deposit is due Oct. 1st (which I paid in April). It is the same confirmation number as last time but just odd that they sent it again like I had just made reservations.

That happened to me over the weekend...I randomly got an email confirmation for my reservation arriving on Dec 31st...I had not requested it or anything...it just appeared in my email?? I'm staying in the AoA LM rooms...maybe that is why? No idea...

I got an second email confirmation yesterday for a reservation I made a month and a half ago. I was a bit confused by it but it's identical to the first one I got. I have three sets of reservations but only got the additional email for the Little Mermaid room.

Interesting info about the higher-than-average crowds. We always go the second half of January as well and every year it seems to be more and more crowded. Is Touring PLans projecting higher crowds the week of 1/21 or 1/28?

Touring plans seems to be showing the entire month busier than usual.

We're going marathon week and Touring Plans numbers are quite a bit higher that week than easywdw. If I'd known we were gonna have 7's, I would've picked a different week, but now we've signed up to run the 1/2, we're stuck. Hope they're wrong, but even if not, we'll be in WDW and it'll be awesome!!

I'm hoping easywdw's predictions are true! I'm going Jan 29 - Feb 3 and on that site the crowd levels are mainly 2's, one 3, and one 5. Maybe with the economy picking up some and people realizing Jan is cheaper and better weather we'll never see low crowds again

Hi everyone. I am not going in January this year, but I am sending some pixie dust ya'lls way hoping ya'll get to see a discount soon! (I know that until ya'll do, it's very unlikely I will see a May discount! LOL) Last year, I went in January with FD marathon weekend, well that Sunday. While the Brazilian groups were there, they don't really do a lot of the dining... maybe QS but I don't even remember seeing them in those lines. So I wouldn't let that discourage ya'll. I think Disney is just waiting as long as possible, but there MUST be some kind of discount, right?!?
