January 2010. . . Anyone else going???

QOTD (Question of the Day) : If you had to choose to skip 1 of the parks which one would it be and why?

my answer - AK - cause besides the animals and the shows, there is just not enough there for me and my 6 yr old to do!

Probably DHS. I'd miss ToT & RnR, but planning our day there is such a headache between having to accommodate the showtimes for so many different things and deciding on dining in a park that has no really appealing options.

Hi Kim! Welcome back:cool1:

Probably DHS. I'd miss ToT & RnR, but planning our day there is such a headache between having to accommodate the showtimes for so many different things and deciding on dining in a park that has no really appealing options.

I agree! Last year I found us just sitting on a bench or wandering around! I could do without it! but I do love ToT and RnR so :confused3

Kim- I almost forgot about our almost meeting at Crystal Palace last year! :goodvibes

QOTD: I would have to skip AK- we only spend one day there anyway and it's not as exciting as the other 3 parks for us.

I finally booked our vacation!!! We have our grand gathering from 1/21-1/30 at All Star Movies! I was only on hold for 5 minutes on Saturday until I got through! And Ames was soooo nice and friendly!! I can honestly say that the little kid in me was jumping for joy the entire time I was making our 3 reservations! And now if a deal does come out, I can call back and have it applied...but no more waiting! I did a little dance and started singing after I hung up and DS9 and DS5 just looked at me. DS9 looked at me all serious like and said, "Mom, come on....seriously!" Whoa.....since when did the roles reverse?!:rotfl:

But who cares.....I'M GOING TO DISNEY!!!!!!!!!!!:woohoo:

I'm SO missing Disney and hoping we can take our trip in January. Right now it's not looking too promising, but I'm trying not to worry about it...yet! I've been listening to the Wishes CD and singing "Starlight, Starbright" to my youngest when I put him to bed, so last night we youtubed it. When he saw Tinkerbell flying he kissed the computer screen...it made me melt...

QOTD: We'd probably skip Animal Kingdom. I think with a good commando plan we could probably put AK and DS on the same day and spend the other days at MK and Epcot and maybe relaxing at the pool. We had fun at AK last year, and I usually LOVE DS, but this last trip we spent alot of time walking here and there yet never really doing/seeing anything. I didn't even get to ride ToT which is my ALL TIME FAVORITE!

QOTD: Last Oct, we had 3 full days, but it was F & W and we were at the Dolphin. So, all of our "spare time" was at Epcot. AK is easily skipped--especially if it's hot.

We will have 3 full days again in Jan, but we can't decide where to stay. If we are not at Swan/Dolphin, we might skip DHS. However, I told DH that both DHS and AK are morning parks for us. But in Jan, it's not hot, so we could do AK in the afternoon. It's hard to change our mindset.

We've skipped AK on short trips before--even before DD. And we try to not need meals at DHS. We've done DHS in a morning and gone to MK for hot dogs at Casey's at lunchtime.

We like dinner at Epcot, otherwise maybe we'd skip that while DD is still small.

Congrats!!! :cool1: Funny how we get all giddy and turn into little kids when making a phone call to Disney:rotfl:!

We are going to WDW January 29-February 6 and staying at ASSp!

I never thought to come over to the countdown board, I'm usually on the code board :)

So, I work in a high school. wdwinfo is a blocked site! :scared1: The boards are not, however. But how am I going to get notice of codes/discounts? I'm thinking of seeing if I can get it unblocked for me. I would hate to miss an announcement because of the "evil"-kids-shouldn't-see-it Disney website.

What to do......(and I know, it's only a minor inconvenience)

If there's a code released, it'll be posted here on the DIS in a heartbeat. Most of the time I find out about a code here before anywhere else! And they won't run out right away and you should have time.

Here's hoping we get a great code!

I noticed that the Disney pricing has not been available for the last two days. Maybe they are updating the deals for 2010. ????

we've made a small change from the 3-10 to the 10-18 its 1 extra day because I asked my TA to make the change from the 10-17 and when she sent me the confirmation it was through the 18th but actually cheaper than before so what the heck might as well :cool1: and I cut out the park hopper because with my two small boys a park a day is going to be just enough- hopefully thats my last change :rotfl:

I am also hoping for a code or package. Last year Dreams Unlimited had a package with Dining, value hotel, and tickets for about 500.00 less than we are paying this year for the same dates. We are booked with them hoping they have another package deal. In addition to the fact that they make your ADR's, create a custom touring plan, and really nice to work with. :)

How has everyone been? Looks like planning will be in full blown mode soon enough w. room and package rates out and soon our 90 day window for ADR's will be opening up. Lots to chat about right??? :rotfl:

Well since I have added a few days to the beginning of my trip, it has now come to light that our DF (DH BF from fraternity) will be arriving with us and his family to WDW on the day of his 40th birthday!! And I want to do something special.....

Let me preface that DF's family (Mom and Dad) are DVC so he has been to WDW many times and not a stranger to different places and things to do on property. So it is tough to come up with something nice and something that all 7-10 of us (depending on when the others arrive) could do together to celebrate.

I asked him if there are things he has liked that he has not done or something he liked in the past that he has not done in quite a while, he liked the Polynesian luau when he was a kid and he wants to just spend the time with everyone and his kids.

So I have a few ideas: O'hana for dinner (Polynesian flavor) then a fireworks cruise; or the luau (any reviews here?). I am open to other suggestions that I may be missing and would love to hear about them. We will be doing the Castle for lunch later in the trip and one night adults are going out to "Drink around the world". Also thinking about a cake to be sent either to the room (SSR) or dinner.

Thanks for the help and look forward to any ideas.

Been going well here thus far. Hoping park hours come out on time for all of us to make our ADRs!

About the luau, we loved it! My DD enjoyed it so much that she's taking her DH when they Disneymoon next month. The storyline is a little cheesy but the dancing totally makes up for it. The food is delish!

I think we've decided to try all new restaurants on our next trip. Bongos, Bistro de Paris, California Grill, 50s Prime Time, Cape May Cafe, Captain's Grille, Cap'n Jack, and Citricos. Hopefully we can get all those. If not, I've got a few back ups!

Trying to decide if we want to do something special for our trip. We have 10 people (ages 17 to 65) and I don't know what to do. A fireworks cruise or Hoop-Dee-Doo. I just don't know how much everyone wants to spend. And while we have been quite a few times, we are taking a newbie so I don't want to have him miss out on anything because we took a 3 hour tour...a 3 hour tour. LOL!! We will be at BWV GV so I thought of getting something to welcome us there like from ediblearrangements. Love  their stuff.

Very nice, laid back plans. I thought I was the only one working on day-by-day plans this far out! :rotfl:

As far as your character breakfast, Ohana was the best character meal we've ever done but we are Stitch fans and he was the highlight. He's so very Stitch-like in person, you know? Cape May would be a nice choice since you're planning on World Showcase for the afternoon. You'd have to transfer at DTD to get there, but after breakfast you'd just have a short, pretty walk to the back gate at Epcot.
