January 2009. . . Calling all Snowbirds ~ Part V

Soleil~ Have you considered the cont.? If transp. is a big deal(of course it is with a baby!!) you are right there!!! I haven't been to AKL, but, I would just think cont. would be soooo much more convenient. The only other place we really love (deluxe) is the Beach Club--if you are going to Epcot a few times, it's awfully convenient just to walk over there. We eat there for most dinners and walk 'home'! We love it!!! check the room rates and see what's best for you-but when my daughter was tiny, we stayed at the Cont.

I think that might be pushing it price-wise. If an AMAZING deal comes out, it's an option. We would LOVE to stay there!

I can't make mine until October 25th!

What am I supposed to do for the next 5 months?!?

Think, think, think and rethink our ADR choices. :scared:

Hey Snowbirdies! :goodvibes

I hope that you all had a most fantabulous Mama's Day yesterday! I sure did! I got to wake up to my dear sweet little girls singing me "Happy Mother's Day" ! I got some lovely cards and drwings too! A lovely omelette made by my wonderful hubby and a nice new pair of Deerfoam slippers! Sooo comfy and warm! I am a blessed woman! We had all the parents over for a late lunch after church!! I pretty much spent the est of the day relaxing! So very nice!

All this talk of planning January 2010 trips is really getting to me! I sooo want to book something! DH and I agreed to wait as long as we could to see about deals etc! I told him that we would ned to at least book a Room only before we could make ADRs on Oct 25th! We REALLY want to try and get a lunchtime ADR for Le Cellier! It might be weird for us being Canadian, going to the Canadian pavillion to eat a Canadian restaurant but it sounds SO YUMMY! I must try it!

We think we might try for a late breakfast at Chef Mickey's this time! We really enjoyed the food at dinner but the service was slow and getting back to the park after was really stressful! We thingk we will either do a breakfast ADR either on our off day or on our last day before we head out!

Well, hope you all are having a phenominal day! We are having a nice warm sunny day up here! :cool1: I'm off to update my TR!

Hi everyone, this is Kazooie01's Husband. She hasn't been on in a while and I just wanted to give you guys a bit of an update.

Joni had malignant melanoma in 2005. Everything was going well until we noticed a lump in her neck about 6 weeks ago. Turns out that the cancer is back. It is in her thyroid, lympnode and lungs. Luckily (fingers crossed) it was caught while everything was still very small. We have seen specialist at Sloan-Kettering in New York City and we think we have a good plan of attack in place. She is scheduled to start Chemo tomorrow. The next six weeks will hopefully show that she is responding well to the therapy.

Joni will kill me for posting this and I hate to bring your day down with our issues, but I know she really enjoys coming on here and talking with you all. And right now our Anniversary trip to WDW and our January trip are two of the things she has to look forward to.

It's a lot to take for a 31 year old Mom of two beautiful children, but she is a fighter and very strong willed person. We know we can beat this and she won't be alone in the battle.

Here’s to fighting the good fight. It only takes faith, trust, and Pixie dust.pixiedust:

You sound like an amazing husband! You're family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

I hear great things about POP transportation and bad about AKL. Trans is a BIG thing to me- especially with a two year old.

that is a very valid point. The one night we went to Boma for Dinner, easy to get to from AK, but terrible to get out from. It wasn't late at night, the parks were still open, we knew we had to get to a park and transfer to our resort bus. We asked the CM in the gift shop the typical bus schedule for that time of day and she advised we get a cab. We walked to the bus stop to wait first and a family was there and advised they had already waited 30 minutes. We ended up cabbing it home as well :(
I was not pleased!
So I understand the worry.
The last few reviews of the buses on the Pop thread are great. Belle is still very young and I think she'd be happy anywhere :goodvibes.
My DD (9) wants the Poly. I am thinking POP for value price and good bus service!

Well at least we should all be all set with our choices by the time we can make the ADR's, then that's less calling back to make changes! :rotfl:

I agree 100% :rotfl:
This last trip I perfected my excel skills!:surfweb:
I am already planning - I planned the last trip so much and still missed some of the things we wanted to do or try? Maybe it was sub concious so I get to co back!!!:rotfl:

From the bottom of my heart, thank you all very much for the well wishes. Joni will certainly appreciate it. Every bit helps.:)

So I'm not the only one starting the spreadsheets already?:rolleyes1

We missed some things last time that I want to be sure we get to this time so I'm getting much more organized this time around. I vow that we will not stand in the parks looking at a map wondering where to go next wasting precious time. I don't want to be a drill sergeant or anything, just prepared. :thumbsup2

Sister, I have 4 going already. 2 of them are mine and Belle's vacation wardrobe. Can you say OCD????:lmao:

So, what kind of spreadsheet are you using? I don't know a lot about them..but the ones loaded on my program are not very Disney friendly! Can't get the look I want.Do you (any of you) mind telling me what you use? I would love to do one! A year or so ago I got a really cool one from someone, I think it was Drakesdad? Anyway, right before our vacation this year when the computer crashed, I lost the whole thing!!! Even my Master Packing List!!! that was bad. Anyway, I would love to start doing one ----I am a prepared type girl! Is that OCD? :rolleyes1:confused: Ha!!

I prefer to make a table in word than mess with excel. I just use one worksheet and put all of our info, plus 4 tables. I add research info, notes, packing list, plans, ect. I just scroll down. Probably doesn't work for everyone, but my brain likes it that way.:goodvibes

I have a folder on my desktop for WDW. This is my first time trying spreadsheets. I'm more of a word kind of gal I guess. I like making tables like Soleil too. Call me old school but it works. I'd love to see what others have done as far as spreadsheets though. Maybe then I could get started.
